Well, Barrera opted for the 11 rounds of beatdown.
By the way, I prefer getting knocked out by a head shot than a vicious body shot which you can still feel even months later. It really really hurts!!!
These facts compliment each other.
1. When Pac's wraps was removed, his left hand was seen to be swollen. X-Ray showed it got sprained.
2. Pac's foot was seen by the reporters to be blistered.
3. Marquez opted to price himself out of a fight he is supposed to take easy. Why did he do that? Answer: Marquez knows something that we don't. Marquez felt something that we didn't. And that thing that he felt could be: Pacquiao wasn't even 100% and he got knocked down 3 times, got his nose broken, and despite being a perfect counter puncher, only managed to land 10 more punches than Pacquiao.
I agree with Silencer.
Reasons:
1. Pacquiao is considered 1-dimensional. Morales losing to 1-dimensional fighter is bad... really bad for his career.
2. Suppose, you argue that Pac is 1-dimensional but too powerful. Then why did JMM lasted 12 rounds. And Morales is supposed to have the toughest chin among the 3 M's.
3. Suppose, you argue that Morales has the tendency to brawl. Then he is more a moron than we thought of. Why? We know the answer. This moronic attitude will degrade him.
Now, if Morales lost. Who will be his options? C'mon guys. Give the list.
Perhaps Morales can take on JMM. Hahaha!!! How much? Can they still demand like they used to?
Or Morales moves up and gets avoided.
But if Pacquiao beats him, then I'm gonna say that Corrales knocks him out just by the sheer difference in power.
Morales will be able to trade shots with pac and erik has made a living beating guys who trade with him
Huh? MAB beat his face to a pulp in their first fight. And they traded about 1500 shots.
You trade just 100 punches with Pac and some part of your face is gonna be broken. If Morales wants to endure a lot punches then he must anticipate, prepare for them, and endure them by going backward as a punch is coming in. Then within milliseconds unleash some power counter punches just like what JMM did. If not, then Pac's right hand will follow, and then a left again.
JMM didn't neutralize Pac's left hand. He neutralized his right.
I keep hearing "Morales knows how to box".
Against the current version of Pacquiao everybody has to box... PERFECTLY.
If you don't box perfectly... then you get knocked down.
Now, what type of perfect boxing must you execute? Answer: Perfect defensive/counter boxing. No more no less.
Now, how many rounds of perfect defensive/counter boxing must Morales endure? Answer: 12 rounds.
Now, can you remember when Morales didn't slug it out and simply box perfectly for the entire duration of the fight?
Answer: NONE!
Morales' steel chin will be his problem. Why? I'm gonna answer this using Pacquiao as an example.
Before fighting MAB, Pacquiao is considered with a "glass" chin. That he could be knocked out by jabs. Perhaps MAB also thought so. And he was dead wrong about that.
During that fight, Pacquiao unleashed every type of arsenal ranging from unpredictable right crosses (because he does not lunge it), uppercuts, hooks to the body. You name it. Pac used it.
Thus, Pac found out that he is not really "glass" chinned. In fact, he can take some flush power shots and won't even wobble. Perhaps because of his gain in weight. We don't know. But one thing's for sure. Pac forgot to use some of his arsenals because he can take JMM's flush power shots.
Now, why do you think Morales couldn't help himself out from trying to slug it out? Answer: Because he has a steel chin.
The problem though is, Morales has a steel chin under a very thin skin that gets easily bruised. Plus, his nose would be a magnet for Pac's quick power shots.
Trinidad performed better.
Oscar won some rounds because Hopkins was tentative. And that argument that being aggressive will play to DLH's favor? Hell NO!!!
The moment Hopkins concluded that DLH has nothing in him to be cautious of, Hopkins became aggressive and put up the pressure.
What happened?
Dela Hoya folded like a butterfly stung by a bee.
Haven't you figure out that Pacquiao is also comfortable at long range? And that his left straights do more damage when fired at long range?
Pacquiao, according to his friend trainder, was a sprinter when he was in primary school. That's perhaps he's comfortable at lunging at his opponent. And he does it with cruel intention.
I have watched all of Erik's fights since MAB part 1 up to 130. And I haven't seen him not engage any boxer toe to toe. He does box but there are always rounds that he brawls.
One exception is against Ayala. Ayala was so small that it looked like Morales was boxing him. But hey, even Ayala was able to tag Morales with power lefts. But Ayala is a pigeon puncher.
god knows i hate morales but no...his reach is not a bad thing-hell no...morales will use the long jab
I think Pacquiao is a fighter that is not deterred by jabs. In fact, Pacquiao is the only fighter that likes to be jabbed.
Barrera is one of the best jabber out there and what happened? And you couldn't even say that he's not in shape because you don't need to be in perfect shape to throw effective jabs.
The moment Morales (or even MAB) throws a jab, Pacquiao will simply fire a counter fire that is as fast as Morales' jab but much more powerful.
Haven't you figure out why Marquez threw only a few jabs against Pacquiao? In fact, Pacquiao even outjabbed Marquez by a few.
The moment any fighter extend his arms, that is the time needed by Pacquiao to throw very quick power punches.
If Morales want to extend his arm, then make sure that it does more than a jab.
Marquez, when he extends his arms, has the purpose of gauging or neutralizing Pacquiao's right crosses which were previously effective against Barrera.
