how does one even land clean bodyshots on floyd? seems damn near impossible...
last one to do it was a prime castillo
also cotto doesnt throw that many bodyshots these days and has focused more on sharpening up his jab which should be his key weapon if he's coming to win
Good point about cotto's jab he's gonna need if he coming to win, but as far as floyd going down cotto's best shot is a headshot, and even if cotto manages to catch him clean floyd recovers fast, floyds not going down.
the mexican dude with a thompson lastname has 18KOs dude
his tune up should have been a lower KO type of opponent LOL
now we can kiss demarco vs linares 2 goodbye :(
ok you got me to look thompson up on boxrec, and i always look at the past 5 fights for some kind of reference and although he does have a good ko percentage only 2 of his last 5 opponents had winning records. I still think thompson bet all in early and was able to pull it off by chance.
Many years ago I seen Ike quartey on basic cable, espn i think. since then i dont think i've seen a better jab, he has one of those stiff neck twisting jabs. Sonny liston had a really long jab too. :boxing:
I not sure why people hate Canelo but I can tell you why i dislike him at this point, Yes he won a slice of the title, but is the hype that surrounds him, let the kid show us against a top level opponent what he can do. Same type of hype happened with jorge linares and victor ortiz.
I don't think anybody can stop Cotto in 6 rounds. At the first sign of trouble he runs away long enough to last at least until the later rounds. And yes, he runs away, he does not start to box, he runs away for dear life, not setting anything up, getting tagged, losing the rounds, etc. Cause he doesn't like to clinch, so what he does is run. If Floyd has Cotto in trouble in the early rounds, and looks like if he ups his attack he can stop Cotto, then he can stop him but he'll have to really cut off the ring against Cotto cause that guy can really get on his bike, he did it with Mosley, Pacquiao and Margarito.
I agree with you there, unless mayweather finds a way to cut cotto with those forearms its gonna be hard for him to stop cotto.
I think he needs surgery to reduce the chances of cuts. Like the one Hatton got, they removed some cartilage around his eye sockets.
Maybe so, i dnt know much about thompson but he didnt seem much like a hard puncher to cause cuts like this, linares from round one had swelling and one flurry buy thompson and that cut started bleeding, and for the record i seen thompson attempt to headbutt but didnt look like it connected, dam i shouldve dvr the fight.
What he needs it some time for face to heal, at anypoint any fighter is just one fight away from to do something big, most fighters dnt bounce back from losses like this but i think there is enough talent in linares to when an alphabet title.
Ortiz fought the best, quit playing...he had some wins, and some losses, but rose when he beat undefeated Berto...this kid was an espn prospect with a great olympic background, dont compare him to canelo
Im comparing the hype they have coming up not there ability, I know ortiz is fighting top level opponents but before that he was suppose to be the next golden boy and most would agree hes a good fighter but i dont think he is carrying the torch of golden boy. Overhyped.
Yes linares was cut which looked pretty bad but give the guy a chance to try to win, IMO fight could have continued. Two rules dont fight in your opponents hometown and dont fight in texas.
He must thing being an arrogant douche somehow sells ticket, this kid been watching to much pro wrestling. I still enjoy watching him fight even though he acts like a fool outside the ring and einstein's IQ was reportedly only 160.
My guess is a little over 1.5 million buys
Im guessing the same 1.5 mill, its cinco de mayo weekend which is almost like the superbowl of boxing. you have mayweather who always sells, cotto who does good and Canelo who will have the mexicans fans buying ppv.
I had quartey winning a close fight, but u know when u get that feeling that the judges scored it wrong. I remember watching that fight and noticing quartey coming off a long layoff and he wasnt throwing enough jabs then what im used to seeing him throw.
