People knock Puerto Rican fighters for taking a knee. Juanma showed heart and kept fighting but the ref took that from him. Like i said he was probably going to lose but it was a bad stoppage. Ive seen guys getting the **** kicked out of them much worse than that and the ref let it continue.
those were definitely low blows by cotto but judah landed 3 or 4 low blows to cotto also and cotto didnt complain or fall to the canvas like judah did.
Well, explain me how you wouldnt feel a low blow. Maybe we should test it on you? No complaints allowed!
im not saying that they didnt hurt but judah overreacted a bit. cotto got hit by a couple of low blows himself and never complained.
i saw many ali fights when i was a kid but i hardly remeber them. the fight that i saw that got me into boxing as a kid was larry holmes vs. randall tex cobb.
you guys forget that tito was hit below the belt many times and never complained. cotto was also hit below the belt a couple of times and never complained.
Due to all the comments on the Cotto/Judah contest about this issue. I'm wondering if you all think that boxing's current handling of this degree of fouling is sufficient?
Is a single point on the cards compensation enough for causing a fighter on the offensive emasculating pain and stopping his ever so important momentum dead in its tracks? You have other avenues with holding and taking a knee to avoid punishment, why hit below the belt?
The argument has been made that this type of foul cost Floyd a late stoppage of Zab (which would've been a nice accumulative show of power).. and of course the argument has been made that this cost Judah an early disposing of Cotto.
Being that this foul can alter the outcome of a fight, should more be done to counteract its effects?
if that were the case then they would have to consider the same for headbutts. the intentional headbutt from judah on cotto also altered the fight. in between rounds cotto complained of not being able to see from one eye.
I thought this was a great fight. I am neither a hater nor "fan" of either fighter so I feel i can speak from an unbiased opinion. Cotto was DIRTY for hitting judah with those low blows at very opportune times. He did the same crap against the columbian Torres (i think thats his name) in 2005. Another fight where he was wobbled and went lo. Would he have beaten Zab without them? Probably, but either way not cool...Great fights that night. That was the best card of the year in my opinion.
i agree with you in that it was a great fight but diagree with you saying that hcotto is a dirty fighter. i didnt get to see the first low blow but i got to see the second low blow. and that happened because judah pushed his head down during that punch. also noone is saying that judah is a dirty fighter when he head butt cotto and cut him.
yes this illegal style is getting out of control when are penalties gonna come down is what i'd like to know
mills lane would not allow that to happen. to bad he retired
Hatton is quick. Hatton has real skills. Hatton is strong. Hatton is an exciting fighter. Hatton is one of my favorite fighters...almost.
Now only if Hatton doesn't clinch that much. It's getting more irritating and he's getting better with clinching with each fight.
thats exactly how i feel. hatton definitely has skills but he holds too damn much. after every punch. against castillo not only was he hugging too much he was holding his arms so that he couldnt punch. this in my opinion is getting out of control.
porque tanto odio entre los mexicanos y los puerotoricanos?
i have no idea why. i love the boxing rivalry that we have but i dont know why that translates to hate for some.
neither did i man infact ive never seen a puerto rican in my life
they started after i said cotto would get koed then all of the sudden i was a "rican hater"
i guess when u only have one world champion u get upset over the smallest thing
what difference does it make how many champions we have? youve said that more than once. what is your beef with us?
well yeah, the new jack sound. lets keep it real though, they werent THAT bad. Max sounded like a lesser Eminem. Still, they were perpetrating an "attitude" which they ovbiously dont have.
i agree. it was actually kind of strange to see max in that light. i remember back in the day when max had a boxing show on public access tv when cable boxes still had letters instead of numbers. at such a young age back then he was already very insightful.
why do you guys keep saying that hatton did a good job when all he did all night was charge in and hold. i think he would have done better if he tried to box a bit more from the outside. im not saying he would have won, be he would have done alot better.
mayweather was just being a good sport. you cant believe that it was his toughest fight when all hatton did was crowd him. and because of all that crowding hatton barely landed punches himself.
