true but this was the version of Geale that GGG had already pulverised :lol1:
bro you are delusional if you think Cotto can hang with GGG. It will be a great fight for a few round but Cotto will start to drown in there by 5-6 round under that kind of pressure.
Brush did you lose a bet? Who gave you the name?:lol1:
Money talks and it might be the only chance GGG gets at having a crack at cotto.
Im not saying that I agree with a catchweight but I would understand why GGG would take the offer.
Golovkin has already stated that he will not fight at a catchweight. He was ready to fight Chavez Jr. at 168, is currently willing to fight Froch at 168 and would drop to 154 to fight Mayweather for his 154 title. He is currently Cotto's mandatory challenger and a catchweight cannot be imposed on a mandatory defense. It is time Cotto stood up like a real man and accepted his responsibilities as champion or vacated the title.
Well I guess that they will try and beat any system put into place but limiting the amount someone can rehydrate would also be very dangerous.
Much less dangerous if no catchweight is involved. Any such clause would have to eliminate catchweights entirely. But yeah, fighters like Cotto who have little confidence in their own ability to win a fair fight will always look for a way to get an advantage.
They got rid of same day weigh ins because they were deemed to be too dangerous to a fighter's health. They would weigh in in the morning and then try to rehydrate in the afternoon. This led to muscle cramping during fights as well as reducing the amount of protective fluid around the brain resulting in brain injury.
What is needed is a clause restricting the amount of weight gain between the weigh in and fight night. Along with the banning of catchweights.

There is no logical reason for GGG to accept a catchweight to fight Cotto, other than the fact that Cotto is an unethical coward with a trainer to match.

They should bring back same day weigh-ins, its also much safer and healthier for the boxers.

No, that's not what I said or think. Stop using these straw man arguments. I only said Golovkin should accept the catchweight for Cotto if he can make 154 like he claims.

I agree with you completely about same day weigh-ins. I'm not disputing that and I'm in total agreement with you that the current system is a problem in boxing.

I would understand your opinion if you said there should be same day weigh-ins and that is where the problem lies.
With the current system nearly all the fighters cut water weight and rehydrate well over the limit.

You seem to think that Cotto will ever actually get in the ring with GGG. The guy almost choked last night every time GGG's name was mentioned. He will retire before fighting Golovkin.
As for the rules, if they are not enforced then people should stop wondering why boxing is a fringe sport and why it will remain as such. I cannot take this sport seriously when it is so corrupt. UFC has more honor than the boxing world. It makes me sick.

cotto looked fresher than i expected him to. i actually think a fight with golovkin would be interesting in itself, regardless of the title. of course i would still expect golovkin to win, but hopefully cotto would make him raise his game
Even if you took off 5 pounds that would mean he rehydrated 17 pounds over the limit which is a lot.
My point stands and that suits me just fine.

Actually you are the idiot if you don't understand that sanctioning bodies only enforce "rules" when it's beneficial for them.
You're 58 years old but post like you only started watching boxing during the rise of Golovkin.

You need to understand the rules of the sport. Golovkin is Cotto's MANDATORY defense. MANDATORY defenses cannot be subject to any conditions such as a catchweight, they must be open to the division limit. Cotto cannot refuse to fight GGG at 160 or he will be stripped of the title.
Learn something about the sport you follow because right now it looks like YDKSAB.
