Good stoppage, Salido fought smart and Juanma fought dumb, that's all there is to it.
I don't think JuanMa fought dumb he just can't get away from the right hand, don't know why.
Salido's best punch is the looping right hand and he combined it with the left hook to land a devastating combo that put him down the first time and he never recovered.
JuanMa is a hell of a fighter but he has zero defense for the right hand.
People knock Puerto Rican fighters for taking a knee. Juanma showed heart and kept fighting but the ref took that from him. Like i said he was probably going to lose but it was a bad stoppage. Ive seen guys getting the **** kicked out of them much worse than that and the ref let it continue.
u can question his chin no doubt ... but u cant hate juanma in the heart and balls department. hes gotta ton of both

That was a bad referee stoppage, but JuanMa's corner should have been looking to throw in the towel anyway. In other words, the ref should not stop the fight when the champion is still throwing punches and attempting to fight back, but yes, it was the best thing for his long term health/career.
He had already taken many heavy blows throughout the fight, which obviously played into the ref's decision. But this was a championship fight and JuanMa was still fighting back. The ref should never stop it there. A good corner will stop it there though. JuanMa's defense was pretty much non-existent at that point and he was going to continue to get pasted by Salido's bombs.
The ref most likely saw Juanma's eyes roll back in his head and decided to step in. It was his call. Probably didn't want to live with a guilty conscience if anything went wrong. The only way for Juanma to redeem himself would be in the rematch.
JuanMa would have probably survived that round and maybe a couple more, but to what avail? And at what point his own durability detrimental to his health?
Just because he is standing up and trading punches doesn't mean he isn't getting brain damaged: Chavez vs Taylor
It looked like a premature stoppage to me. JuanMa was fighting back. The ref should have let him go.
Juanma recuperated after the kd.
But he couldnt stay away from the brawl and couldnt keep his hands up.
He could have probably recuperated again , but if he kept fighting the same way he was getting koed eventually.
I think it was a questionable stoppage but I think it was more the fact that the ref had seen JuanMa hurt for 3 rounds straight and decided it was enough.
JuanMa was seriously hurt.
I'm a JuanMa fan but I'm not blaming the ref. He was taking damaging blows for 2 rounds and 16 seconds. Young fighter. His corner needs to think about his health and live to fight another day. JuanMa has tremendous heart but I think he was going to get hurt pretty bad if the fight went on. Props to both guys for an exciting fight
He was getting knocked out I would argue if it was the 11th or 12th round but it was barely the 8th. No one is knocking out Salido he just gets stronger as the fight progresses. It was better so he can protest the stoppage and won't affect him as much as it would if he would have been Kod paul williams style.
Not questionable. Actually maybe the worst Ive ever seen
Hard to argue with your sentiments. Knowing how resilient JuanMa can be and the fact that he was the champ, he should have gotten the benefit of the doubt.
