Same probably would have happened whoever he fought, its just Benn will be down in history.
He shouldn't have fought against Benn, people say they saw something before that fight
Ok, aside from the fact he may have had a defect that left hims susceptible to brain injury, on skills alone, how good was he/could have been?
It's fair to say he's unknown really (at heavyweight). Most folk are excited cause he can hit, will stand and fight, but also has been dropped a few times
Makes for an exciting fighter, pretty much what the heavyweights are calling out for
Lewis did retire cause he knew he was on the slide....he had his hands full with Vitali...he was just good enough the 1st time to get the win....but might not have been the 2nd time...that's not fear despite what some people might think....that's common sense....and I sure wish some other boxers had it in the abundance Lewis did.
This isn't going happen anyway, it's less likely than Tyson vs Holyfield III :boxing:
He was only 'coming on strong' because he knew the fight was about to be stopped due to the cut and he wanted to not be completely humiliated. If it wasn't for the cut he would have never come on that strong otherwise he would be spent by the next round and knocked out, which he would have been anyway a few rounds later.
So you're saying he would have got knocked out if he didnt come on strong and get the fight stopped in his favour?
Was Klitschko winning? Yes. In control at the point of the stoppage? Probably. But Lewis upped the pace and stopped him, he was taking over. He abandoned all caution cause of the trouble Klitschkos height was giving him.....but that's he won. It's called Plan B, fighters sometimes like to adjust to win fights
Lewis was definitely having trouble with Klitschko's height in that fight, but he was coming on strong before the end. He kinda threw caution out the window, and was beginning to take over. Definitely right about showing age, but even at that stage, I still think he was a bit to good for Klitschko. If a rematch was given, Klitschko might have won.
But blaming Lewis for retiring is as daft as blaming Vitali for not fighting Rahman. Both are warriors, scared of no one.
He was a very good fighter. Crazy power. Was expected to destroy Benn and move onto a super fight with Jones which many gave him a good chance of winning. Benn just wouldnt be denied that night though. On that night, Benn really couldve beaten anybody through sheer heart and will.
He did have him down for longer than 10 in the 1st though, amazing to think it could have been all over by then
Benn was unreal that night too
If a fighter falls through the ropes the have 20 seconds
Yeah, I was aware of that, what I'm really getting at is Benn might not have got up at all if he hadn't left the ring
If this is True Calzaghe would take the £5M on offer and have an easy nights work.
JC should be saying, yeh gimme the money ill fight anyone.
but Joe will only fight if he is called out nicely
Calzaghe should fight him, for the money cause it would be an easy fight (unless he seriously slips in the 6 months or whatever til the fight). Froch isn't going to KO him and he gets hit far too easily. Calzaghe W12
He'd get very little kudos for it though. Froch should really just concentrate on his own career as he looks a player in a very exciting Super Middleweight Division
FUCK OFF .......
