Roach can't get a fair shake. Twice he beat boxers with a name more prominent than his and both times he came up with draws. Must be supremely disheartening.
So many deluded wilder fans on here still
2m buys in the USA when wilder can’t even sell out a stadium of 17k?
Wilder deserves 40 percent which would most likely be 20m?
Joshua has more ppvs buys than wilder has non Ppv audience on tv lmao
Joshua sells 1m ppvs and makes 15m whilst wilder fights for 1.5m and ducks proper fighters
Wilder should get a flat fee, say 5-6m his highest pay day by triple and that’s it
Anything else is wilder hiding and ducking behind unrealistic demands
So many idiot wilder fans on this thread
This to address you and everyone else who use the excuse that Wilder only made 2 million for his last fight. It's not what he's made, it's the importance of the fight and what's he's done in the ring so far. There is no other heavyweight, besides Joshua, who's done what Wilder has in the ring. His accomplishments are beyond any other heavyweight and he deserves to be compensated more than any of the other heavyweights. 60/40 deal for both fight seems fair. Personally, I think Joshua is better technically than Wilder and would beat him in a technical fight, but Wilder is a powerful puncher and all it takes is one good shot.
What has wilder done ?
Look at his damn resume, full of can drivers and gifted a belt
He almost lost his last fight vs a 50 year old and was lucky Ortiz gassed
You wilder fans have lost grip of reality
The reality is wilder had the worst resume of any hw champ and is a typical American hype job product who will lose
He couldn’t even sell out his last fight
He makes 1.5m
Per fight and is now suddenly demanded 15m lmao by asking for insane splits
He should be grateful aj will fight him and stop pricing himself out
He is no better than the other American fool Joshua knocked out
Martin wasn’t it ? Yeah he got 6m as champ
Wilder gets that much and makes triple his highest pay day
Guess what wilder is another fight for aj,
Nothing special
Rabid fans, of which you are, aren't rational thinkers. Who has Joshua beaten besides Klitscho? It's not Wilder or Joshua's fault there aren't any bigger names heavyweights to fight (don't say Fury, he's a joke). Those two are the biggest names in the sport at the moment and Wilder shouldn't be fighting for chump change.
Hahaha i read some comments about bradley ko pac.. Seriously do you think bradley is going to go toe to toe with pacquiao? He will run tonight for his life like the first one
It's called boxing my man.
ahhhh im nervous for this motha fckin fightttt
For good reasons. Bradley is not Rios and if Pac gets careless while looking for the ko he will get rocked like he did in the Marquez fight.
Lewis lost to two journeymen, and Pac lost to two journeymen and drew with a third. The Klitschkos have improved beyond all recognition since those losses, especially Wlad. And for similar reasons - a much better trainer.
They are the same fighters, it's just that there are no heavyweights out there that is any good. They would not be as good as they are now if they were in the Tyson, Holifield, Bowe era.
Are you black?
Vitali is almost 40, he is older than Briggs you moron.
Either Klitschko beats any HW from any era.
The truth hurts.
What does being black have to do with it? Wlad got knocked out by Puritty (1998)TKO, Sanders (2003), and Brewster (2004). Vitali lost to Byrd (2000) and Lewis (2003). How the hell could they have hung with Tyson, Holifield and Lewis? Stop being a racist and deal with facts instead of racist emotions.
Briggs speaks the truth.
Vitali is a monster. He beats any HW from any era.
Stop smoking crack. Neither one of the Klits could have hung with Tyson, Holyfield or Bowe in their prime. These guys look invincible now because the HW division is in the dumps.
Briggs is old and washed up and is nowhere near the fighter he was in his prime. He's an easy target so he took more punishment than he would have in his hay day, so it appears to him as if Klit is a superior fighter.
Everyone wants a piece of the future cash king :boxing:
Khan will never get to Oscar/Floyd/Pac level in terms of being cash king. He's an A level fighter. He won't be able to get past A+ level fighters.
Vitali has a mean temper and is very protective of his little brother, dating back to a promise he made his mother when they were kids.
And if Vitali will slug someone in parliament, why wouldn't he slug a guy he hates who just beat his brother?
But it's a moot point, as that ain't gonna happen anyway.
If you don't want to do 50K, name your limit. If you believe in your guy so deeply you should be able to put your money where your mouth is.
Is this retirement thing a threat or a promise from this clown?
He already told a US journalist that he wouldn't retire if he beat Wlad, that he would try to fight Vitali.
Now he says the opposite.
All of which proves Haye is a pathological liar -- he lies like he breathes.
Are you so blinded by your bias that you missed the part when he said that Vitali was next but he's scheduled to fight in September?
Anyone who saw Vitali's reaction when Sanders beat Wlad and who saw the Klitschko documentary as I did knows what I am talking about. And Vitali didn't hate Sanders, like he hates Haye. Vitali gets in brawls in the Ukraine parliament, so I'm sure if a guy he hates beats down his brother who he's always been so protective of, their would be hell to pay, right then and there.
He's already choked out Haye in a German restaurant, according to Adam Booth. And that was over an illustration. So I don't think what I said is out of the realm of possibility one iota. In fact, it would likely happen, except that Haye won't beat Wlad.
I spite of what you hope will happen, don't forget that these guys hold PHD's. I don't forsee a sensible man attacking another because his brother is beaten legitimately.
I got 50K on Haye. Are you betting?
I'm pulling for Haye but if he loses he will look like a fool. If he gets knocked out he will be an even bigger fool. If he knocks Wlad out, Wlad's boxing career is done.
It is a shame though that it could have happened when they were each more primed, Manny ****ed up. But I still.not sure if Floyd would have signed, because Pac was a monster at that time, and his destruction of Cotto prob made Floyd a little worried.
Did you not read the part "every significant part was agreed upon?" Open your mind. Don't let your dislike for one person cause you to have tunnel vision.
Dont make the mistake of thinking Shane isnt worried/concerned. He has attempted to partially take the high road to salvage his damaged image due the roids issue so he plays the determined, Im not going to talk too much trash route to be more appealing to the fans probably per Oscar's advice. Floyd is being Floyd - talking trash, hyping the fight and gettig under his opponent's skin.
Dude, what you're saying is complete b.s. When have you ever heard Shane talk trash? That's not his personality and that's not what he does. It has nothing to do with salvaging his image. About his image, most boxing fans know that he's not a juicer. Why do you think he's not a condemed fighter like Margarito?
This is what true champions are made of. The best willing to fight the best at the drop of a hat. If Khan has any heart to be a true champion (which I think he doesn't) he will accept Bradley's challenge. He's barking the most out of the top three about being the best, let's see if he actually believes it.
your an idiot, like if williams actually won the first time, martinez was robbed, and what idiot had it 119-110 williams?,what fight were they watching?, williams ' slapping punches didnt do crap, williams keeps getting protected and frankly he isnt all that.they want to keep making williams some unbeatable force but we all know martinez spanked that ass last time and did soo convincingly, that fight proves boxing judges are either inept or bought.williams is vastly overrated.martinez will have to ko williams to get a win as these judges are a farce.
Let's put a little sumtin', sumtin' on it Mr. Convinced.
I wish you guys would shut up about somebody just wanting a payday. Pac should of fought Mosley when Mosley asked to fight him but Pac and Roach were scared of Sugar Shane. He was too sweet! Now that Money May took it too him now all the sudden we hear Pac vs Sugar Shane lol. Typical Pac. He'll knock Mosley out or make him quit and then all the pactards will say he beat shane better than Mayweather lol. There will be no mention of Mosley being an old man.
Tweezy you're so right my man. Typical Pacquiao. He and Roach wanted no parts of Shane when they thought he still had some juice left in his tank. Now they see that he's a shell of his former self so they want a peice of him now.
Is Pacquiao gonna fight somebody fresh (Bradley, Berto, PWill, Alexander)or is he gonna always fight people who basically have nothing left (Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, Margarito), now Mosley? How is this guy fooling so many people?
When Canelo Beats the robot monster Benavidez, all you mofo haters will have an excuse. Canelo’s physical shape was amazing. It’s hard to understand all of you ham and eggers that never put any effort on your lives other than being a couch potato. Canelo showed he is still in his prime VMC!
And what excuse will you have when Canelo refuses to fight Benavidez?
Tony is a Top 5 WW?
Hes arguably shot, weight drained and just got KTFO and hasnt fought in a year.
Gimme a break man.
And that's exactly the type of fighters Pac has built his so called legacy on. Oscar, Hatton, and Cotto had all been knocked out and were never the same fighters after their losses. No way would Pac beat Cotto in his prime. Even though Oscar was overrated he probably would have beaten Pac. Pac would have beaten Hatton. Now he wants to fight Margarito, another shot fighter. If he's not gonna fight Floyd or Shane why not fight one of the unbeaten guys like Alexander, Berto or Bradley? Pac is a good fighter but he's built his legacy on has been fighters. He's nothing but a FRAUD!!!
Where do I ****ing start with this post?
July 23rd has ALWAYS been the date for Khan - Bradley. Khan knew it, GBP knew it, Gary Shaw knew it and Tim Bradley knew it.
He wanted to fight in front of his home fans as he knew it would be a while before he could do that again. He fought a world ranked unbeaten fighter in McCloskey - nothing wrong with that.
WTF has Prescott done to deserve a rematch and payday? The square route of **** all is what.
And your comment about him getting KO'D if there were a few more rounds in the Maidana fight is ****ing laughable. For one, there is a set number of rounds - 12. I could quite easily say that Maidana is lucky there wasn't a few more seconds in the first round because he was on his way to getting KTFO.
But I wouldn't be as idiotic to come out with a statement like that, rounds are 3 minutes, no more no less. Just as championship fights are 12 rounds, no more no less.
Khan has no heart?
Did you watch the championship rounds of Khan - Maidana?
Amir was hit with a monster shot that made him do a little dance, he did well to survive the round.
Now, if he had no heart as you say, he would of ran for rounds 11 and 12. What did he do? He won both rounds handily, and showed the true heart of a champion. In the end it was Khan lighting Maidana up with flurries.
Ali, Lennox Lewis, Ray Leonard, Holyfied, Shane Mosley, Hopkins, throw PWill in the mix too. These are a few names of champions with warrior heart that went looking for the people who knocked them out or they lost to.
These guys didn't avoid the people they lost to, they sought them out. Khan is not made from the same cloth as these guys.
As for Maidana, I agree the fight lasted for 12 rounds and he lost, but Khan has never been in that much trouble before, except the Prescott fight, so why not give him the rematch? Let me answer that. Because he knew he almost got knocked out and don,t want to take that chance again. NO Heart!!!!
His living in his own fantasy right now. I guess the backlash from the media and the fans was pressuring him and pretends that he dominated to have a sanctuary from it.
I didn't hear Ward say he dominated. He said he took his heart which means to me that he didn't fight the same in the second half of the fight as he did in the first half. People wanted Kovalev to win so badly they're acting as if this was a lopsided victory for Kovalev and he got robbed. This was a close fight that could have gone either way. It just so happened that the judges scored it for Ward.
6'3 vs 5'6?? GTFOH! then if the pacman wins flomos will say pacquiao's on steriod!! let your boy mayweather fight manny damn it!
If you're saying that everyone else at ww should fight Williams but you're making excuses for Pac not to fight, you're admitting that he's a bitch and is cherry picking his way to fame. If he's in the division fight everybody in the division. Nobody made excuses against Breland and Hearns. Pac is a fraud and I'm not hearing anything from Floyd's camp either about fighting Williams, but at least Floyd fought Mosley when Pac clearly ducked him.
Ortiz is and will be a problem for anyone at 147 and 154,including both Spence and Crawford. That educated, piston like jab is going to give anyone problems, let alone his relentless pressure and power in both hands. If you don't have enough pop to garner his respect, you're gonna have to get on your bike and try to fight him on the outside. If not, you're getting walked down and stopped. You're not winning an inside fight against him with that type of power, offensive arsenal and pressure of his.
You're describing what Ortiz would do to a mediocre fighter. Spence and Bud is far from mediocre and ain't letting nobody walk them down, it hasn't happened yet. They will both beat the brakes of off Ortiz.
One means you are fighting with restrictions to your breathing, the other restrictions to your vision. Obviously at the extreme end, you need to be able to breathe or you can't fight, but we know that wasn't the case with Fundora. However bad it was -- and I've no doubt it was pretty bad -- we know for a fact that he could breathe enough to fight fairly well to the end. Tszyu has said he really couldn't see much of anything and I see no reason to doubt that. It seems very plausible given blood was pouring from the cut as soon as he stood up from his stool each round and was obviously going in his eyes. Not being able to see seems like a mighty hinderance.
Good article. Interesting to hear Stitch's views being expressed, which all make good sense to me.
As you've stated, Fundora had a broken nose, he could breathe to fight fairly well to the end. Although the blood was a hinderance to Tszyu, he wasn't completely blind and also fought fairly well until the end. Having to breathe through your mouth surely affects your endurance. They both fought with hinderances, but in my mind, it's more difficult to fight with the pain of getting punched on a broken nose and difficulty breathing than blood in my eye. Just my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right.
the fight isnt happening sorry
Definitely agree with this. Pac 's got all of his fanatics in some sort of trance. This guy will never fight Mayweather or Moseley. He's the one afraid to fight Floyd by refusing to take the blood test, not what his one dimensional thinking fans are claiming about Floyd scared to fight because he's asking for the test. Shane agreed and the fight is going to happen. Same would have happened if Pac agreed.
That's what I'm talking about, the top fighters fighting each other, none of this cherry pickin', he has no fans, he's not a ppv draw stuff.
Bradley has nothing to lose and everything to gain with this fight. If he loses, it wouldn't hurt him that he lost to one of the top welterweights and can always go back down for Alexander and Khan. If he wins it's only going to catapult him into the upper echelon of the ww div. He will be the second option behind Floyd and Pac will have no excuses to not fight him then.
Oscar-Hopkins, Oscar-Sturm, Oscar-Mayorga, Pac-Cotto, Floyd-Baldomir, etc etc etc.
The bigger draws usually the bigger split man the rankings don't matter when it comes to that TBH. I know.... I know... it sucks but it is what it is.
Ok, the original question was name one time that a champion, who is considered to be #1 in his division, took less than his opponent.
I know the bigger draw usually gets the bigger split but not in championship fights when the champion is clearly the best in his division. Emphasis on CHAMPION!!!!!!!!
