The only boxer that impressed me last night was Gary Russell Jr. Im not giving Khan any props for beating Judah, who didnt even turn up, I think he just wanted the payday, even mosley put on a better show
Personally though if money wasnt the main thing (fantasy land)
He should fight prescott even if it was just free-to-air.
In the words of Uncle Roger - He could fight him next week - I dont think how McCloskey does against him as releavant at all. Paul landed about 3 punches in that entire fight, even if not for the cut he was heading for a wide points loss or a late stoppage. McCloskeys style makes for boring fights.
I would like to see him face Morales but if he does and beats him (very likely) is anyone gonna give khan any credit? Everyone will just say he only beaten another over-the-hill fighter
Khan vs Guerrero is the matchup i would most like to see. i expect the ghost to easily get past maidana
I was impressed with Russell jr. Ive already said elsewhere his fight was highlight of the night IMO
You can tell who his hero is lol.. but he's like a little pocket ninja. I think a lot of ppl are going to want to pay see him perform
Not sure about his power though, I think the commentators were hyping a bit how tough his opponent was, they guy was hardly marked at end of fight after eating leather all night!
Theres no money in a prescott rematch. No way would anyone buy that PPV especially on bargain basement primetime. Amir Khan is world class as a boxer, but i'm starting to think he's a busted flush financially. After last nite its clear he's not a big draw in Vegas, only a few thousand paying customers, most of them Judah fans I bet. I bet the PPV numbers were below average also. He's not that popular among real punters in the UK because of the way Frank Warren used to him fleece us in Khans early SKY PPV shows against total bums. Looks like he's in no-mans land right now. Golden Boy will need to rub him up against some more star names. i dont blame Amir personally but those around him have rightly been shown to be money-grubbers, with unrealistic ideas of how much he is worth and how popular he is in the Uk and worldwide. I expect if he ever fights mayweather he will receive more than he deserves but much less than he thinks he's worth
I doubt Khan could knock pacman out with a hammer. Im no pactard either, and from the UK. I like Khan but dont see him as a match for either manny or floyd unless he improves a hell of a lot over the next year or so. TBH I still dont think khan would be able to beat the Hatton that lost to Mayweather.. well maybe on points
I think there's a good chance it would be in the UK, Wembley is a 90,000 capacity stadium and yes there's a good chance it would be a sellout at a few hundred quid a ticket. That is serious Money
I think Mayweather would destroy Khan unless he gets a hell of a better real quick. I can see how Floyd likes the idea of a massive fight abroad to enhance his legacy. Make no mistake if this fight was at Wembley Mayweather would have A LOT of support in the crowd. Khan is spot on when he says he is more appreciated in USA than back home. He can thank Frank Warrens handling of his early career for that, too many PPVs on SKY against total bums.
Khan > Judah - Judah is rated for being in with big names.. but he lost every time
Mayweather > Ortiz - Victor just not good enough to test Foyd PERIOD
Pacman > JMM - Marquez best days long behind him
Cotto > Margarito - Time for the cheater to pay his due
Froch > Ward - TKO with Ward way ahead on points
Hopkins ? Dawson - Dont know, Don't care..yawn
I hope it works out for you, but personally Fury is too much of a wild card for me to put that kind of money on him. My bet is for it to be over within 6 rounds, I got over 2/1 on that which is good value I think, before the weigh-in of course ;)
Depends, how popular is Ortiz in the US? I mean without the hype. Most people still buy Floyds fights hoping to see him get beat don't they? lol
I thought Canelo was only well known in Mexico, apart from among boxing fans. Not sure how much crossover into mainstream audience he brings to the table at this stage.
Where did I say it wasnt going to be 1.7+? Just no way will it be anywhere near 3.5m
4,800,000 buys is the most PPV HBO has ever sold in a entire year. end of.
Derek looked fat for the weigh-in, but Fury is hardly a prime athlete either. I expect this to be an ugly scrappy fight, god knows why it is PPV in the states when they are showing it for free in the UK
I think Chisora will gas out early on and get stopped
Cant say I'm a big fan of Mccloskey, his style makes for boring fights. Its right also that after the cut he pretty much gave up and was happy for the ref to stop it, though he says different now ofc. Barerra is a true warrior, it was going to take a cut much worse than that to get him or his corner to throw in the towel
Im surprised its taken even that long tbh. Big rock concerts and the like sell out in hours or minutes sometimes. I thought pacman was supposed to be the biggest draw in boxing these days..
Anyway pac will KO JMM
Newsflash - Manny aint a fortune 500 company, or a publically listed corporation so why does he need to go to the big four for his accounting? People with a lot more money than him use accountants far more obscure
Another thing, why should the guy on the other end of the phone answer questions from a random nobody? Why would it be bookkeepers answering? More likely a secretary, why should they know **** about finance?
Bottom line - None of your business
If you are so financially savvy then provide some evidence that manny generates hundreds of millions dollars a year, I would be surprised if he's made 100m in his entire career, He aint Rockefeller
Khan had plenty of fights at 135 so whats your point? I agree that he's outgrown that weight class now and looks way better at 140 than he ever did before, 147 will be the next step.
I respect Hopkins a lot, when he first came on the scene you would never have pictured him now as one of the elder statesman of the sport! His life story is also inspirational as someone who came up the hardest way imaginable.
To be fair to B-Hop a lot of the quotes that get held up against him always seem taken out of context. When he said his "white boy" line it was obviously an off the cuff comment while he was with his pals. Seemed like a joke to me.
Calzaghe wont come out of retirement, he seems to be enjoying the celebrity life. He obviously doesnt still have the hunger for the game that Hopkins still does at nearly 10 years his senior!
Chisora is a joke as a professional. I dont care if he was supposed to fight Wlad. THIS IS PPV, THE BIGGEST FIGHT OF HIS CAREER. He looked like a pig on those scales. Do us a favour Tyson and retire this chump..
I think writing off a 5 time world champ as a gatekeeper is a bit harsh. he has come up short against the elite of his era though. I'm not sure Khan is ready to be called elite yet, we'll see..
