I would like to see where he scampers. Khan resets yes, but he doesn't run. Also it is wise to not go toe to toe with Maidana. Heck even when he got blitz by Prescott he did not run. Resets? He was on his bike when Maidana was blitzing him, if those ropes were not there he would have been somewhere in the top stands. Khans chin is very suspect, he himself knows it.

I'd like to see Khan fight either Bradley or Alexander before he ever mentions Floyd's name again. Bradley wont fight him, or even morales? Khan has said he will move up to full welterweight. I just wish instead of constantly putting his name in with the Pacquiaos and Mayweathers, he would shut up, go ahead and fight the likes of Ortiz, Mosley, Berto etc, at full WW. IMO if Khan was not trained by Roach, and alongside Pac, he would not talk so much.

He didn't handle the speed first time because he tried to trade in close. Cotto thought he would be able to over-power Manny and that was his downfall. He has a great jab, he has good boxing skills, he has great timing to counter...he has all the tools to win the fight, he simply used the wrong game-plan first time not to mention he was being 'trained' by Santiago and had horrible footwork, both things have been improved drastically. I see what your saying, i just cant see him getting in there and executing those to an extent where hes winning rounds I think he should take Margarito for a 3rd and final fight, leaving the controversy out of it, there still 1-1.

Cotto has his confidence back after the Margarito rematch and we all know he had the wrong gameplan on the first fight. Like everyone he was thinking the way to beat Pacquiao was to use his size and strenght to beat him down insted of using his boxing skills. If Cotto gets a second chance against Pacquiao I am sure Diaz will come up with a gameplan to beat him and Cotto will not make the same mistakes again. Thats not the point. From what I read on the PR papers Pedro diaz says that is the style Cotto will use from now on "the hit and not get hit" style by going back to his roots of amateur boxing, learning new defensive techniques and learning to clinch to save his stamina, Cotto is doing the right thing for the sake of his career. He is turning in to a defensive pot shot fighter who fights behind an amazing jab and if he keeps working on the right hand he will keep improving and for a guy who is 31 years old that says a lot. Will this make him even more confident that he can beat Pacquiao in a rematch?

Unlike Khan, i dont think Peterson will get ahead of himself here. Although Petersons style would give Mayweather trouble, i cant see it. I have alot of respect for Peterson, he is not calling out Floyd and Manny, Just enjoying being the Champ! He conducted himself very well after the fight.

Robertson, you may have been one of these "wise sage" fans that "always knew it was going to be tough", but be honest, Roach thought it would easier and so did most of Pacquiao's fans. They believed Manny had improved to a degree where yet another life and death struggle wouldn't be likely. That, coupled with Marquez being a bit long in the tooth and having had plenty of hard fights. Despite all this, Manny was indeed able to "counter the counters" at times which probably saved his bacon. Mayweather is so much better at countering and leaving NO CHANCE of being countered back. Manny is so prone to lunging forward while punching, he is too open and off balance to avoid a crisp counter and relies on immediate reply. This will be futile against Mayweather, who likely just won't be there after landing. Im not one of those, i just knew Marquez had his number, and would, and did, cause him problems. You may be right, and most people these days are having Mayweather dominate Pac, fair enough, but having watched both fighters for many years now, it will be alot closer than people think. Plus, can you imagine the size of Mayweathers head if he wins? Jeez.

Robertson, your assessment on how Pac can win, I agree with wholeheartedly. He needs to catch Mayweather with something big on the end of a 5 or 6 punch salvo, hope to hurt Mayweather bad enough and follow up on it. That's his biggest chance. He sure isn't going to outbox Mayweather. Again, Roach is merely stating the difficulty of such a match. I just think the Marquez III fight was a reality check for him. He knows what he's put into Pacquiao and what they expected to see as a result. I'm not saying Pac should've walked through Marquez, but I think they were expecting him to cut the ring off better, adjust to the movement and not get hit so easily by the straight right. Like you said, if Manny can't do these things better after all this time, he isn't going to do them better in the next six months to a year. When i look back at the Mosley fight, 2nd round, watch carefully how Shane's left to the body is followed up by a straight right hand down the pipe..Floyd holds onto Shane's arm tightly. Now Shane knows Floyds hurt, but instead of throwing body and head combos, he holds on at the ropes? MP does not do that, when he senses an opponent to be hurt, he attacks with everything he has. I dont believe Floyd has had to deal with that before. Roach in my opinion is one of the best trainers out there, this is where he must look! The Marquez fight was an eye opener yes, but even before the fight when the general public thought Pac would smoke him, i thought otherwise. They have a big rivalry, and Marquez has had 2 fights to adjust before going in. I think Pac made the mistake of thinking because he was the bigger guy, faster, and had more power, he would win, but JMM i think trained amazingly, and to be honest, size went out the window when i watched the weigh in. I scored the fight a draw in the end, with Pac to take the win if anyone was to, was very close though.

Floyd ate 2 big power shots from Shane and walked him down. Pac's so called power couldn't even get Marquez out of there and Pac would have more luck hitting JMM then Mayweather. I Truly believe Shane threw that fight. Floyd was very nearly on his ass, he held onto shane for dear life, had shane managed to get loose and go for the kill, May could have been in serious trouble. And Marquez? he didnt land any big power shots, especially those awkward lefts that had put down Marquez before. More luck hitting him? lets just see..Marquez knows Pac, Mayweather doesnt, Floyd may think he knows Pac style inside out, but once there in there, all that **** goes out the window.

I hear you, Robertson. I also don't doubt what Mosley said about Manny's power. But Mosley sure isn't going to punch himself to see if he hits harder. I can only go what I have seen. Then again, common opponent, Cotto dealt with Mosleys power but no Pacquiao's. This I put down to Pacquiao's constant barrage which connected to a tactically stupid Cotto (trying to go toe-to-toe rather than box and getting put down. Against Mosley he played much smarter). Mayweather's greatest asset is to seriously reduce his opponent's productivity. Marquez struggled to land more than 70 punches in 12 rounds. Also, with that reduction goes activity. Against Marquez, Pac usually throws around 5/600 period. Against Clottey, he threw over 1000. We know where he looked better. When a fighter can reduce his collective opponents connectivity to 16%, at the same time landing 45% of his punches, you know he's a tough, tough night's work. Pac will have trouble landing often enough to do the damage he likes to do. Roach knows it. How it will play out is anyone's guess. But it's likeluy Pacquiao will have a hard and frustrating night trying to land and might be made pensive if he gets countered too much. Of course he isint, i see your point though. To me, its such a difficult fight to call, and looking at both fighters and there fights in the past, one can only get a slight idea of what "could" happen. Pacs punch output is usually down to the opponent, as you've pointed out there. But you cant put down JMMs punch output, when he himself is a counter puncher who had to come out his shell and try and attack Floyd, and we all know how that turned out. As far as the big one goes, Pacs punch output will be alot less, especially punches landed. But Floyd can be hit, and i think that's where Roach will look to most. If Pac can somehow do what Mosley did, and land power punches, but in a bigger barrage, i believe Floyds in trouble. I think thats the only way he can defeat him.

I agree with that! Roach and the rest of Team Pacquiao are not stupid, i just cant see Pacquiao getting in there with no idea of how to at least try and take out Floyd. I believe Mannys power will be the key factor, if Manny lands a hard flush left to Floyds chin, and he buckles, Floyds confidence could go AWOL. Robertson, it's ironic that you mention Mosley in your post as a common factor. Mosley hit Maywearther with not one, but TWO of his best shots in one round. Mayweather buckled, but his confidence far from disappeared. In fact, he was beating Mosley back by the end of that same said round. I would wager that Mosley hits at least as hard as Manny does (One KO'd Marg, the other didn't, remember). I agree with your sentiment that one punch, especially from Pacquiao, could change the complexion of the fight. Here's the thing. Roach, I think, seriously had his eyes opened to the fact that regardless of how much work he's done with Pacquiao, movement still troubles him as much as it ever did since his second fight with Marquez. He can still win fights, but doesn't look nearly as convincing doing it. Pacquiao is prone to frustration when hunting a moving target and Roach under no illusion with how close Manny came to losing against Marquez. Mayweather may well be different to Marquez, but the things that Marquez did to give Manny fits (use lateral movement and pop out lead right hand counters), Mayweather does better. This isn't about "who's fault it is the fight hasn't happened" or "who's the coward (I would never use that word for anyone who steps between those ropes for a living because I wouldn't)". It's Roach sizing up and opponent for his charge, one he's known for years and knows better than any of us. He knew Oscar couldn't pull the trigger anymore, he knew that Mosely was too much about the time he sparked Marg and he knows Mayweather is a stylistic nightmare for Pacquiao (not that Mayweather definitely wins, for all those sensitive types out there). Pacquiao is an exceptional fighter, but "box, move and counter" is like Green K to him. I wish people would stop taking this all so personally. Be a boxing fan first. I believe Floyd hit Shane with his best power shots, sure Shane looked wobbely, but he was not floored and genuinely hurt by May, both physcially and mentally. Yes Floyd will present a nightmare to Pac, and i believe at Pacs age, Roach will have a uphill battle changing Pac entirely for this fight. I believe Amir Khan has the tools to win this fight but Peterson is durable as hell and while i see khan dominating with speed and movement early on its going to be interesting to see what happens when we get to around 7 upwards will amir start to tire .... will lamont find his chin when he slows down this could be a barnstormer !!! Khans speed will pose the biggest danger to Peterson IMO I think if khan gets caught with some of the monsters that Maidana caught him with, he could be in trouble.
