May I say that Pitalua doesn't deserve a title shot...he has fought bums his entire career. Not to mention the fact that I don't think Manny would ever want to fight this guy, there is no money there.
I think so, he's got excellent handspeed and good skills. His shaky chin leaves him vulnerable in every fight though. Just like Paulie's power keeps him from being elite, Khan's chin keeps him from being elite.
Call me crazy, but to be honest, I didn't think a draw was too unfair first time out. I think John obviously won the first couple rounds, but Juarez captured the later rounds. Plus Juarez was landing the harder shots, John was mostly landing the jab. It was a good fight the first time and I think it will be a good fight the second time around. I'll go with Juarez to win in a tough toe to toe battle.
Mollo is too small, he should fight someone Wlad's size like Ray Austin.
I agree, Ray Austin is the same height as Vlad. Getting some practice in against another tall guy would do him some good. Plus he won't be much of a threat.
Well here are my thoughts on the fight:
I've been following Aydin since he started his pro career and I've seen most of his fights. He's definitely not a stylist, his style involves him plodding forward with a high guard and once he gets his opponents on the ropes he opens up with vicious flurries to the body and then the head. I think he uses the style pretty effectively, but as his last fight showed, he can be outboxed. If Ouali had boxed more instead of sitting on the ropes, I think Aydin would have been in some trouble. If Aydin added some more weapons to his arsenal like a jab and straight rights, he'd be more effective in my opinion. And a little head movement wouldn't hurt either. Right now he's too one dimensional.
Fortunately for him, Sugar is not very dimensional himself. Bonsu is a puncher and he's pretty raw. He's been beaten twice and stopped once. He's also been down on occasion. But he still punches pretty damn hard and if he catches Aydin with a good shot, it would be all over.
If Aydin can keep his hands up and avoid Jackson's bombs, he should be able to break Jackson down and win this fight. He has to cut off the ring and keep Jackson on the ropes where he can work the body.I think I'll go with a decision win for Aydin, maybe something like 116-112.
Oscar is 5'10". Floyd is probably 5'7.5" or 5'8" and Ricky is 5'6" or 5'6.5". I don't think that's too hard to believe. Claiming that Oscar is 5'8" is silly though. That would mean Floyd is like 5'6" and Pacquiao is 5'4". I don't think so.
Margarito should rematch Clottey and the winner of that fight gets to fight Williams...leave Berto out of the mix, we know his handlers won't put him in a fight with a serious fighter.
i mean, a good amount of those right hands that clottey was throwing were coming from way out and he was leading with it. why judah just stood there i'll never know. a good trainer would've been able to get his fighter to recognize as much but Yoel obviously wasn't capable of doing so. judah is too quick to be getting hit with lead right hands from far out. i dunno, maybe the guy is a glutton for punishment.
If Zab kept his hands up he could stop quite a few of the punches coming at him.
Here's my card:
Round 1: Chavez
Round 2: Chavez
Round 3: Chavez
Round 4: Chavez
Round 5: Chavez
Round 6: Vanda
Round 7: Even
Round 8: Vanda
Round 9: Chavez
Round 10: Vanda
97-94 Chavez
Some of the rounds were hard to score, both guys were landing combinations inside. In round 9 both guys were rocked and stunned.
Money, I don't think Vanda threw a meaningful punch until round 5. I think some people get too caught up in rooting for the underdog.
Edit: Not until round 5. In round 6 Vanda started to turn things around.
Round 4 was a good round for Vanda, he started to use his jab, but he still didn't do enough to win the round.
People forget about the first half of the fight. I remember telling myself when Vanda started picking it up in the sixth that he started too slow and it would be very hard to come back on the cards.
He was snapping Julio's head back from the very beginning of the fight with clean punches. What about Julio jr.? Did he land a meaningful punch by hitting Matt's arms? Hitting your opponent's arms ins't even considered a punch landed.
If I remember correctly, JCC Jr. was primarily attacking the body for the first few rounds, throwing in the occasional headshot. Vanda was doing NOTHING. Honestly, nothing. He flicked the jab a little bit, threw a few punches, but for the most part he looked lost. I honestly want to these this fight again and compare notes, something tells me your opinion will be different.
Edit: Vanda kept moving into the ropes where Chavez Jr. peppered him with shots. I made a note on my card: Vanda needs to stay off the ropes. This was in the first five rounds of the fight.
I gave it to chavez by one round but when he steps it up in competition he's gonna get his ass beat, he takes too many punches. Chavez sr. looks like a moron now calling out oscar de la hoya for his son, saying he'll never respect oscar until he fights jr. I grew up idolizing chavez sr. but he's being a douche disrespecting oscar like that. His son will never be anything special.
Chavez Jr. fought Vanda's fight, he fought inside. If he had boxed like he did earlier in the fight, he would have done much better.
Chavez Jr. won the first five rounds easily. I scored rounds 6, 8, and 10 for Vanda. I scored round 7 even, but I could give it to Vanda and my card would still read 96-94 Chavez Jr. Vanda was completely lost at the begining for the fight. People seem to forget this because the second half of the fight was so exciting!
Ok man, I won't argue with you. I know what I saw, and I saw JCC Jr. easily winning the first five rounds and Vanda winning the majority of the second half of the fight. Boxing is a subjective sport and you may see things different than I do. In my personal opinon, JCC Jr. won the fight.
I don't get why people are calling this robbery! It was a close fight that involved JCC Jr. winning the first 5 round easily and the two fighters batteling out the next five with Vanda taking an edge on the last five. In the end a score of 97-93 is acceptable. 100-90 is ridiculous, but the winner is still the right winner. And just to clarify, I am not a big fan of JCC jr. at all.
You guys are haters...I am by no means a fan of JCC Jr. but I gave the fight to JCC Jr. 97-94 (one round even). Did you not see that JCC Jr. won the first 5 rounds? Vanda didn't know what to do for the first half of the fight, he barely threw anything. He won most of the second half of the fight, but he started too slow. 97-93 was a perfectly acceptable score. 100-90 was ridiculous, but otherwise i think JCC Jr. won the fight, not his best performance but he won.
that kid sucks. he will never be the cabbie killer his dad was...
Im not a fan of his father, but his father started "killing" cabbie drivers after a very long career fighting world champions.
I like JMM and hope he wins this fight, but I think Casamayor has a size advantage and he is a natural at 135. It's going to be a very tactical fight, right now I favor Casamayor winning a decision.
I've read that Hamed walks around at 170 lbs now. Morales look to have gained weight but after killing himself to make weight for so long, it's not surprising that he is a little chubby now. I'm sure he'll cut some of that weight off eventually, he is just resting right now.
Romonav isn't serious about his pro career in my opinion. He takes extended breaks and has no pursued anyone. I think Guzman beats him in a fairly easy 12 round fight.
I favor Marquez over 12 rounds. JMM has look excellent in his last two fights and is carrying a lot of momentum. I think the 140 lb weight favors Pacquiao, but JMM is pretty big himself. I think Marquez outboxes Pacquiao to a decision victory.
