My takeaway from this is at 19 he still calls his dad daddy
That's Manny's version of what his son said.
For all we know he might have called him Old Man instead of Daddy.
For all the slagging that Haye is getting he is still the best Heavyweight out there outside of the 2 T100's.
Haye won't retire. He'll back pretty soon to redeem himself. He's still a top fighter in the HW and I would still pick him to beat most guys out there.
If he does, then what a waste of talent, he was good.
:wow:
So people actually still believe in this guy?? If there ever was an exposed hypejob it's him. It's like germans believing in the Final Victory when the soviets were marching into Berlin. It's like Roy Jones believing he could take out Lebedev. It's like Bush saying there is WMA in Irak. Or like Zab Judah requesting a Khan rematch. List goes on...
It's so ****ing hard to understand it hurts!
Hey, I agree that the scoring against Pac was a travesty.
BUT, can anyone blame a guy for believing he did enough to win? Can anyone seriously expect a top level fighter to not believe in himself? It's not his fault that the judges were paid off. He did fight a decent fight and he's being accused of things that are not his fault.
So just look at his career outside of this one fight, and give the guy credit for the things he DID accomplish.
if tyson fury had shown more aggression instead of sticking his tongue out and dropping his hands he could have won this fight outright IMO he was lucky to get off with a draw
Spot on. I still had Fury up by two rounds, but you always have to expect the worst, and Fury should have focussed more on getting rounds in the bank beyond reasonable doubt.
chambers is pretty much a nobody, the fact that he's american gives him some name value on this board, but that's all.
as far as i'm concerned, chambers is a b level fighter. and even tho i don't think wlad is looking past him, i'm very confident he'll get ko'd.
look guys, the HW division is in europe. we got the champs, we've had them for a decade and more.
the only reason american HW's still show up on any rankings is coz that way you yanks will still put $$$ up to see the fights. patriotic as you are, you care less about the actual quality of a fight than about having an american in the there.
so i say:
so long, and thanks for all the fish!
unfortunate incident. the DQ was rightful, though strict. there have been a million punches like that one, never getting punished.
maybe AA threw it on purpose, but it's easy to imagine that it was unintentional
maybe AD faked a bit, but it's also easy to imagine getting KO'd by a punch like that one
and yeah, it's also easy to imagine the think being ruled as a knockdown (abraham lands a shot the same second dirrell slips) and then a KO, specially if AA was the home fighter
props to dirrell for fighting a good fight, and i can't really blame abraham for that shot. i've thrown them, you have, everyone has
Just watched the fight again - it's awesome.
People gonna be sour, can't help it - but seriously, who gives a ****? As long as we get fights like these, boxing is far from dead.
Lets talk real here, after last night Stiverne has proven to clearly be the second rated heavyweight in the world.
Anyone can look good against a C level opponent. Let's talk real indeed: Arreola is not anywhere close to a serious contender.
Please Boxingscene, don't publish any further articles from the same author about the same subject.
In my opinion, the author fails to grasp some of the bases of greatness. What is much worse though, he starts to be truly annoying with his insistence. Yeah guy, we heard you the first few times you said you didn't think Gatti was HoF worthy. You going to keep crying like a baby for years? He got inducted, story is over. Most people who post here think you're wrong, and so do a majority of boxing journalists. Stop making a fool of yourself by repeating the same story like a 4 year old.
I think it's fair to say GGG won the first, and Canelo the 2nd. Both were close...
Dunno why people have such a hard time admitting this. Neither fighter was dominant in either fight. Respect to both of them for fighting their asses off.
Judges favored Canelo slightly, as would be expected, but neither was a clear robbery either.
People need to chill and enjoy these fights for what they are.
