I'm a huge fan of Dre's but Roy wasn't right when he was in his prime. He ain't out thinking Roy, people forget how cerebral Roy was, the beauty of his traps get lost in his other worldly physical gifts. Mike McCallum said he was the smartest man he every fought, coming for a thinker like him that's a strong statement. His inside game just wouldn't be enough to take the matchup and that's the only place he "might" have an advantage.
None of this is a knock on Dre but really trying to match anyone up to Roy is kinda unfair.
that's when Showtime hires the big time lawyers to cancel their contract with Floyd :lol1:
Yep..
This would be a nightmare for Floyds account balances.
Mayweathers team has no foot to stand on here. Nothing in the contract limits gloves. NAC approved the red MX gloves.
If Mayweather doesn't fight the blame lies entirely on him, and he will be paying everyone a lot of money.
This....
He will spend more time in court than he does at home....
The MGM , Showtime , Maidana and whoever else was involved in the promotion will empty his pockets for walking under these circumstances.
The projected numbers had to be off the mark, this has to be hype. Floyd is many things but he knows enough to have quality advisers. There is no way they let him make this move....
Roy in his prime was truly a marvel to watch. I feel like he is the least appreciated great out there. In terms of athleticism he may be the greatest fighter ever. He was a force of nature and in his prime could have been competitive with some of the best heavyweights of all time.
GP does great work, I haven't watched that one in a long time. I skipped the part after Ruiz. I am going Christmas shopping with the son-in law and i don't want to be down.
LOL. Crap Roy was a showman. The traps Roy set were freakish, mere mortals get smoked doing that stuff, and he did it to push the action; guys would never have let there hands go if didn't leave the door wide open.
History will be kind to him when he finally retires.
That is a big knock on Roy. Thanks for the effort, link and personal story.
"you'd be hard pressed to pick some one as the favorite over Jones from 154-168...175". I wholeheartedly agree. I have watched thousands and thousands of hours of boxing and I have never seen someone work his craft like a Prime RJJ, truly a force of nature.
Thanks.... Good stuff.
This video peaked my curiosity to look for some in-depth interviews of him and his relatives; I found several. He has a family full of characters. His dad is a trip. I can see from whom he gets his gift of gab. Being from the States , I know very little of the gypsy culture , they sure are colorful people.
