Training Camp in Thailand is always a red flag. In MMA it's well known why fighters choose to train over there and no it's not the nice nature, incredible Muay Thai coaches or cheap Ho*kers.
Wait, then why do they go there?

Wait, then why do they go there? ... *needles*?
Yea everyone wants a Dazn product that makes you pay $44 month/ $550 yr ....
If you pay the $44, you get all of the events for the year. And that equals $540 yr.
I'll keep my Prime sub with Pbc for $15 a month.
Your Prime sub with PBC....where you have to fork over $80 to watch a PPV? And since 2024, only 14 events have taken place, 5 of them non-PPV? How's that going for you?
BTW, in the U.S., if you bought every PPV on Prime in 2024 you would have paid 140 (sub) + 320 = 460 for 5 total boxing events (4 ppvs). In 2025, you would have paid 460 for 7 events (4 ppvs).
How is that any more value than DAZN?
There's no need for tribalism here. Being a U.S. boxing fan has sucked for everyone the last couple of years. Hopefully it starts to get better.
The article mentions that Golden Boy is still working with DAZN, but we've heard no news of an agreement being reached. So are they just working with each other on a fight-by-fight basis?
I'm one of the suckers saying for the "ultimate" subscription tier. Not gonna lie, this news makes me feel a little better about the price. Still stings quite a bit tho!
I think Ortiz is a much easier fight than Madrimov was for Bud. The amount Ortiz throws never managed to knock down Bohachuk. I see Bud having plenty of spots to counter. Ortiz always comes back strong and Bud may take some time wanting to get to him. Course anyone can get caught and you have to throw to land so Ortiz is all effort. Ortiz is not as big as Madrimov. Not as awkward. Id expect Bud to take his time and then start landing clean and stop him after 8 rounds.
I can see it playing out that way, but to your point about Ortiz not knocking down Bohachuk, Vergil had him buzzed a few times, and Bohachuk looked gone (in the 1st I believe) but was saved by the bell. Vergil still has power at 154.
I doubt Ortiz would fight Bud the way he fought Bohachuk, but he def has defensive flaws that would get exploited. Ortiz did show some versatility and did damn good work behind the jab. I still think Vergil is a live dog vs the aging veteran, but give Crawford the edge right now.
Jacobs by UD or late stoppage. When that straight right hand lands on Charlo's it might be in for a long night or a short night for Jermall.
That's the one knock on him. He hasn't faced a puncher yet. Jacobs is that.
Some of these posts remind me of a tweet Morales sent out after Marquez KO'd Pac. He wrote, "The Mexican Pharmacy won!" It was quickly deleted, but LOL...
Training with Memo in Mexico was suspect, sure. I remember this one drill they were doing on one of the pre fight shows. Marquez was launching a medicine ball at Memo from across the room. It was mostly with the right hand. No doubt it was meant to enhance his straight right, but I also recall Marquez erupting on Memo for not throwing the ball at him a certain way. He cussed him out bad. Didn't know Marquez to be a hot head like that. Was he on something? Maybe, but that right hand that put Pac to sleep was placed perfectly. Pac was going for the kill and got sloppy. He walked right into it.
However no one can deny the proficiency of Marquez throughout his whole career. That said, he did not have all that much success above 140. There's the Pac KO and then dec. vs a shop worn and coked out Alvarado. He was dominated by Bradley and Floyd.
What the **** is Joe Cortez doing there
I recently saw Golpe a Golpe (Marquez's ESPN show) and Cortez was on there explaining that he was hired by Connor to ref his sparring and get him used to fighting under boxing rules.
I've said it in another thread, Loma could still make 126. His arms are so much smaller than Mikey's arms. Loma is definitely smaller, but its not a huge difference. Mikey is probably around 145 there. That fight should take place at 135.
Oh yeah...Loma should probably go no higher than 135. 140 for the right fight. I've heard he can still make feather if he pushed it, but he is very comfortable at 130.
oh dear...
Sure on some level Oscar is comparing this kid to himself, but it benefits Golden Boy to make him a true star, so doubtful any "hating" is applicable here.
Instagram followers do not equal success. This kid has some talent, no doubt, but he doesn't really have a story. He needs fights. He needs serious opponents. Linares is that next step, a diminished, yet distinguished vet that offers just the right amount of risk.
I love the fight and hope it comes off.
P.S.
Vergil is going to the be the real star of the stable.
Spence Vs Errol has always been the fight to make. From the car wreck, to his continued alcoholism after a near death experience and subsequent eye issues, he's always been his own worst enemy.
The stare down for this one will be more intense than any we've seen!
I don't get why Prograis isn't more highly sought after. The man is willing to fight anyone. He's a bruiser with KO power and a pretty good interview. Stays out of trouble and has the focus and desire to be a great fighter.
This is a big fight. Not PPV worthy, but more so than a lot of stuff that is has been out on PPV recently.
I never thought much of Andrade either. He pretty moved through his career avoiding prove it fights until he could get a big name. When he finally stepped up, he was 35 and too passed it to face a younger stronger fighter. Hearing Andrade after the fight, it was interesting to hear him push the "smaller fighter" agenda when he himself claimed he couldn't make 160 anymore (his reason for not fighting Yanibeck).
The word Lasciviousness , has this ever been seen on boxing scene before, I will now attempt to add this occasionally to my posts
I was pretty sure I knew what it meant.... but looked it up anyway just to be sure, lol.
I definitely thought the same thing, "hmm, now THAT'S a new one..."
I don't see how Jacobs is any less of a name than Saunders or Eubank here in the States. If they are willing to broadcast the other two, whose purse demands would be similar to Jacobs anyway, put the fight at Barclays, it will sellout and be a huge event in NY.
Like clockwork the never pleased boxing fans rush to immediately discredit a guy who just took on two of the best fighters in his division back to back and needs a break bc of an injury. Yes, gone are the days of the iron men in boxing that would take on tough fight after tough fight, month after month or so.
But to sling crap at Vergil Ortiz? A guy who never talks shit, believes he's the best in his division and just wants to prove it. If he doesn't fight Murtazaliev by the end of 2025 or any other top guy at 154, then throw all the shade you want. But give the young man a break.
Someone mentioned earlier that Gonzalez is in his prime, but at the lower weights this is not true. 30 is pretty old for anyone below super flyweight. Sure modern training and nutrition have upped the numbers for some, but while still a very good fighter, Gonzalez prime is probably already passed. Despite this, I agree he still has some good fights left in him for sure.
I also don't mind the opinion that Gonzalez is one of the best fighters, if not, the best fighter in the world. I think it's closed minded to say "oh, a pound for pound fighter doesn't come out of a fight looking like Gonzalez." I don't care what a fighter looks like before or after a fight. What should matter most is whether the fighter is consistently testing himself vs better and better fighters and continuing to win.
Great pics
Love the gallery.
Awesome fight. One of the best featherweight scraps in years. A lot of close rounds, so scores would be very different, but anything between a draw and 116-112 for Frampton sounds about right.
A rematch is in order!
I think by now it's naive to think most of the top athletes in any sport train solely on blood, sweat and tears. With so much money on the line, there must be use of some form of PEDs.
I assume everyone is dirty unless they're on 24/7/365 testing (god bless Nonito Donaire). It's mainly the ones that get too greedy and don't cycle properly that are getting caught.
Ortiz vs Bohachuk is a great fight. Be a good test for Ortiz but he should win it if he's healthy.
Ridiculous why Tim isn't doing the rematch with Fundora I don't know. Hoping Spence wins then he gets that money fight.
This is on Tim's people for not including a rematch clause in the contract. They accepted a verbal agreement with Lewkowicz. A tragic error.
I don't get the Turki hate. All he wants to do is make big fights. Sure he could learn a thing or two about matchmaking. Most of the events Turki has sponsored turned out great. It wasn't until he started featuring U.S. fighters that he's had some real stinkers (Shakur, Garcia, Haney, etc.)
Is he a shady character? Maybe he is, but that's nothing new for boxing. The sport has always dealt with shady characters. During its golden years it was run by organized crime. Hall of Fame promoter Don King killed a guy.
The one problem I have with how Turki is running things is that I feel he is overpaying fighters that are simply not worth the money. Neither in terms of market value or even entertainment value. He could spend a fraction of the cost dealing with the Haney's, Garcia's, and the Lopez's of the world and pay fighters that make good fights in the ring like Emmanuel Navarette, Abdullah Mason, Rafael Espinoza, etc.
He could set up a unification at featherweight and all of those fights would be amazing. And it wouldn't cost what he paid for one Ryan Garcia fight.
Pretty solid comeback fight for both, and it be pretty great if it was streamed by Pro Box.
Think the winner of Cardenas/Russell should fight Marlon Tapales.
Excellent fights. Throw Nakatani in there and you have a nice a little round robin. (Though Nakatani might nab an Inoue fight after his next one.)
If I remember correctly, Norman's team asked for more (2.2) to fight in Ennis' back yard (Philly), but was willing to fight for 1.7 somewhere else. Which brings us to this... Fighters have managers for a reason, TO NEGOCIATE. And now that Barrios' and Normand's team know Hearn is desperate, they will ask for more. BECAUSE IT'S PRIZE FIGHTING AND IT'S CALLED THAT FOR A GOOD REASON: THEY ALL WANT THE BIGGEST PRIZE!
The thing about negotiating is that you must have something to offer in return, that and leverage. Norman has a belt, that's what gets him over a million, far more than he's earned in his career. To expect more than that, and then walk away is crazy bc it's not like he can make it up in a couple of fights, he literally made less than 10% of that in his very next fight....on an undercard.
As for fighting somewhere else, that's foolish on their part as well bc where do they think the money is coming from to pay him the 1.7? It's going to be from the sellout crowd in Philly. This fight doesn't come close to selling out anywhere else in the country.
Too many boxers don't understand the market and overestimate their worth. You can't just pull numbers out of your ass.
Eh, it was surprisingly close. Pay the man 50K, promise him a shot at the winner, then move up or rematch him. I like the Nuñez unification better. But Suarez does deserve another crack at a title.
Cheers to Wlad. Not the most exciting reign, but he had no control over the era of heavyweights he had to compete in. He was as consistent as they come. Hell of a note to exit the sport on. It was one of the best heavyweight fights in 20 years. He fought like a champ and almost pulled off an amazing win.
