I don't know about that. Ortiz is not Madrimov who just jumps up and down and not throwing any punches. Ortiz would be bored doing that time-consuming nonsense with only 3 minutes per round. Ortiz would rather launch missiles and bombs.
And I don't think Crawford is interested in Ortiz. Fans would have more chances in seeing him accept a fight with Teo Lopez. I don't know if he's still interested in Jermell Charlo, who is huge as he found out size makes big difference in boxing.
It's surprising to hear so many fans continue to argue that Madrimov fought scared against Crawford. Madrimov is the both the stronger guy and the bigger puncher. He fought that way very intentionally to get Crawford to lead and to avoid getting countered to death, and it worked surprisingly well. Crawford was confused and unable to attack the way he is accustomed to doing, for most of the fight. For my money, Madrimov fought brilliantly and actually outboxed the top boxer in the world for big stretches of the fight. In the end I don't sweat the decision too much because I do wish Madrimov opened up a bit more in the championship rounds and went for broke. I'd like to see a rematch, but that's not going to happen.

Crawford definitely knocks him down a bunch of times. Not really because Ortiz has a bad chin, though. His balance is atrocious and he throws sloppy punches.
Yeah, he loads up way too much and often misses wildly when he does. You have to believe that Crawford or any good natural counter-puncher would take advantage of this and drop him. Vergil's got a good chin and I give him a 10/10 in heart and guts, but he can be stopped.

I think Ortiz is a much easier fight than Madrimov was for Bud. The amount Ortiz throws never managed to knock down Bohachuk. I see Bud having plenty of spots to counter. Ortiz always comes back strong and Bud may take some time wanting to get to him. Course anyone can get caught and you have to throw to land so Ortiz is all effort. Ortiz is not as big as Madrimov. Not as awkward. Id expect Bud to take his time and then start landing clean and stop him after 8 rounds.
I can see it playing out that way, but to your point about Ortiz not knocking down Bohachuk, Vergil had him buzzed a few times, and Bohachuk looked gone (in the 1st I believe) but was saved by the bell. Vergil still has power at 154.
I doubt Ortiz would fight Bud the way he fought Bohachuk, but he def has defensive flaws that would get exploited. Ortiz did show some versatility and did damn good work behind the jab. I still think Vergil is a live dog vs the aging veteran, but give Crawford the edge right now.
I don't think his chin is weak, he was not really hurt and they were flash knockdowns. He is too offensive minded at times and forgets about defense running into punches. But Bud will exploit that and his left hand down to his waist.
Doesn't matter. I don't think Crawford would take that fight. He'll ask for huge paycheck. You'll see. He'll spend the rest of the year whether to take another fight. That's an awful lot of thinking. He will decide next year. Guaranteed. For the right fee. He’ll probably take the fight but it has to be worth his time. The fight that I would like to see is Jaron Boots Ennis vs Vergil Ortiz.
This guy Ortiz would be batting practice for Terence Bud Crawford. I have been saying that long before Vergil Ortiz even fought Serhi Bohachuk. Bud would fuck him big time. Which is why he doesn’t want any smoke from Crawford at the present moment or Tim Tszyu.
Now that we know Ortiz is packing a biscuit chin, how may rounds does it take Craw-daddy to Ice his ***?

I voted 6. Vergil will be minced picadillo by then.
Let's see Ortiz go flash KD against a 6'1 power puncher while You're craw daddy got put on skates against a 5'2 blown up Featherweight in Gamboa.
Guess youre craw daddy must have a China chin
