Advantages:
You will become more explosive. You don't become slower when your legs get stronger and bigger, you get FASTER, more EXPLOSIVE. Why do you think olympic sprinters, NBA players, NFL players be squatting all day? Foot/leg speed is just as important as hand speed, sometimes more so. Leg training also strengthens your HIPS, your back, your base, and your overall strength, you will understand when you start squatting/deadlifting heavy. It increases the torque on your punches, increases your punching power.
Disadvantages:
Since your legs are literally the bottom HALF if your body, you will gain a good amount of weight if you seriously train your legs. It will be harder to make weight, you might have to move up. If your body is unbalanced(your legs are much stronger than your upper body), you might have to fight in a higher weight class against fighters with stronger/bigger upper bodies, and you might not be handle to take the body blows/clinching/inside fighting...if you start to train your upper body really hard to try to catch up to your legs, then you will gain even more weight and you'll have to move up ANOTHER weight class, and before you know it, the disadvantages of weight gain will be greater than the advantages..there is a middle ground. If you want to keep fighting in the same weight class, you will need an experienced strength&condition coach to train you for SPEED and EXPLOSIVENESS, and you will need a good nutritionist to make sure you eat the right things to keep you the same size. It might also affect your cardio, more muscle = hogs more oxygenated blood = you gas out faster.
Never called out Vivian Harris though. Was too shook to even mention him. To this day Floyd has yet to mention Vivian Harris's name.
He never called out Vernon either haha.
Difference between ODLH and Floyd is, when Oscar was on top and the superstar of the sport, HE FOUGHT EVERYONE! JCC, Quartey, SSM 2x, Vargas, Trinidad, Hopkins, Floyd, Pac.
Floyd on the other hand turns into a diva when it's time to take on big challenges and that's when the excuses start flying
Yeah ODLH was a killer, one of my favorites.
Floyd was calling EVERYONE out from lightweight to welterweight when he was budding as a star, when all the top dogs were in their prime. A lot of them didn't give him a fight(Shane, DLH, etc.) when they were on top, so maybe he is still mad about that and is doing the same thing to everyone else. Maybe he feels that he's earned the right to do whatever he wants now since he's the top dog. I think he really learned from DLH when he finally gave Floyd a fight. He dictated EVERYTHING, from ring size, to gloves, to weight, to conference/touring schedule, to venue, to purse, to PPV cut, EVERYTHING. Now he's making everyone fight on his terms.
How can you guys even blame the weight at all?
1) Pavlik said before the Taylor rematch that the extra weight will help him more than Taylor b/c he doesn't have to cut as much.
2) Pavlik weighs at LEAST 170(most likely more) on fight night. The only difference is that he didn't have to go through dehydration/rehydration which should have HELPED his stamina tonight.
That ain't no excuse. All it means is that Pavlik didn't have to hop in the sauna. He just got bodied. And its not like Hopkins cuts from 190 or anything.
Stop posting dumb shit about DLH being scared...Margarito wouldn't crack DLH's top 10 opponents. Notice how DLH isn't committing to one particular fight? He is a business man.
He had over 50% of his intestines/colon cut out or something crazy like that before the Miranda fight. He was very sick for a while. If they fought again, it wouldn't be pretty. He is a great boxer/puncher with real power in his hands. Big frame. Green is coming back with a vengeance, trust me.
