This is the type of BS that gives boxing a bad name. How can the biggest fight in boxing history, not happen b/c of something so arbitrary?? I dont blam either of the fighters, i blame BOXING! the sport is so corrupt with the underhanded, behind the scene dealings of promoters and managers. To the sometimes flat out injustices of judges cheating a fighter. We as fans need and want a commsioner like David Stern or Roger Goddell to be able to officiate the goings ons of day to day boxing. Then the boxers can have their own union that will set up pensions and stuff for them. One of the biggest problems are the promoters. they have free reign of the sport. with the ability to make or not make fights. with a commissioner, they would have someone to answer to or risk that they could be suspended for a length of time or fined. Although having a commisioner may not gaurantee us all the big fights, but im sure as fans we will get most of the fights we want, almost wehn we want then. we need rules and guidelines for the the entire country, not state to state commisions or rules. BOXING needs to get it together. and we as fans need to pressure the sport into becoming better. Im a HUGE fan and this what we all should do...boycott both of these fighters next fight. no PPV buys or ticket sales. let them know who they really work for and who pays them

I have been triung to figure out why JD is called an all time great. His best win is against Jess Willard who only won the title when Jack Johnson threw their fight. Dempey did beat the hell out of him tho, but after that he lost to Tunney twice. who besides Willard did he beat to earn an ATG stamp? He didnt fight Sam Langford or any of the top blacks during his "reign". but yet he is consistently rated as a top 5 HW. i may be far of bases with this. so would someone please educate me?

Can someone tell me what ring generalship is? b/c it seems to me that most people equate it to a fighter "supposedly" fighting "his" fight. Like in the Hatton/PBF bout, the commentators and fans on here keep saying that hatton controlled the fight by doing what he wanted to do and so forth. they would say hatton controlled the "real estate" and wanted it to be rough. but whose to say that, that wasnt PBF's plan coming into the fight. maybe his plan was to stay in close, take his time and slowly dismantle Hatton?(which is what he did) just b/c he hadnt done it in previous fights people are saying that hatton made him fight that way. i disagree! he knew he was stronger than hatton and knew hatton would tire in the later rounds. so PBF worked his game plan to perfection. but hatton was awarded a couple of early rounds(by his fans) for effective aggression and ring generalship?? in the first three rounds hatton didnt land 20 punches, yet Letterman gave him 2 of the 3 rounds! and he said it was b/c hatton was controlling the tempo of the fight...oh really if he was controlling the tempo of the fight, why was he slowing down as early as rd 5? just want to understand how fans judge these 2 aspects when it comes to judging a fight

If boxing had a commission it would rival the top 3 sports in the US. A commission would regulate the sport and rid it of the corrupt organizations that run it now. The public would see bigger and better fights on a more consistent basis. Which would allow the fighters to become better known and more of a national sports figure than any other time b4. We would, could and should have 1 champ per weight class. which IMO would lead to a lot more competitive fights and a more recognizable champion. Gone would be the days of one fighter "ducking" another fighter. B/C the commission could order a fight or the 2 fighter would lose their ranking or get stripped of their belt(which if there is only one champ, stripping them of their title would actually mean something). i want to know what the rest of you guys think about this

If Paul Williams beats Margarito this summer, he has the golden path to become P4P king by summer next yr. There are many potential big fights between 147-160 for this guy. And i think he has potential the be the next big thing in boxing. any opinions???

Here's and idea--instead of guaranteeing the fighters a particular amount of the money(i.e. a 60/40 split b/c one fighter is more of a draw than the other), why wont promoters and boxers negotiate a split, but for the winner and the loser? I think it would make for better fights. Both fighters will have something to fight for instead of these half-assed performances we have been seeing. It would be less likely that a fighter would take a dive, knowing that he has a chance to make more money if he wins. These fights with garaunteed money to the fighter lead to them not training as hard as they should which leads to lack-luster fights. Lets' give the money to the better fighter that night. And if the fight was cloase and good, then it would be alot easier to make rematches. what does everyone think?

Honestly i think DLH is overrated. Sure he has been in MEGA fights. But howmany has he won? When he has faced competition in their primes--he lost. 2x to Mosely, Trinidad, and Hopkins. I'll go as far to say, who has he really beaten since '99? JCC(2x),Vargas, Mayorga? Is that it? I dont know why he is considered the "cash cow" of boxing when he hardly ever "WINS" the fight. Also, throw in the Sturm fight(which was a gift) how many fights has he actually won, this century? in a word DLH is overrated---comments, please
