What is up with all these nationality, origin and ethnic boxing threads? It's called tribalism. It's a known fact that people tend to root for individuals, who share similar backgrounds, values and ones who closely resemble and look like them. There's nothing wrong with that. It's the way of the world. It's been like that since the beeginning of boxing.
Spot on. It's built in us. It's human nature.
Everyone does this. But hey if you're white then it's racist lol.
The guy starting the thread was being sarcastic though...some people took him seriously.
This was not a robbery. It was a close fight.
The problem is that these close fights never ever go to the B side fighter.
I think I agree with the decision, but if Porter was the A side fighter he would have gotten the decision 100%.
And that's disappointing as a boxing fan.
In the US where they put so much emphasis on effective aggressiveness this fight should have gone to GGG. Canelo was on the ropes practically the whole fight.
Respect to Usyk for defending in Russia and representing like a true champion.
A boring fight however, I was not impressed by Usyk, more dissapointed in Gassiev lack of effort; most of Usyk's punches just pinned Gassiev hands to his high-guard looking flashy but doing little damage -- basic fundamentals. For all the punches Usyk thrown if he had real power he might of got Murat out of there ; but Usyk seems to be pillow-fisted and this is the dull type of performances that I expect from the Ukrainian from now on, congratulations.
Agreed 100%. Usyk fought a good fight but people are getting carried away. Didn't even land clean that much.
I'll disregard his out-of-ring past for just one moment to say holy shit, that is one lucky break. How come Watson, McClellan and Colon ended up as they did, but Stevenson seems just fine?
This just goes to show that Nature picks and chooses at random. No good, no evil, just random lucky breaks.
Yes, but we can only say thay with certainty when his life is over.
Who knows what happens with him later on...
I hope he'll be fine though. No use in wishing anyone bad fortune. And people can change.
How old was he when he comitted those crimes? Like 20 year old right?
Thats basically an adolescent....
We've all done stupid stuff and if you come from a difficult background you'll do even crazier things.
His victims and their families will have other thoughts though...understandably....
