The man has never been a champion. His biggest win was against a unproven, non champion, pillow puncher Bryant Jennings! He went life and death and got knockout by Wilder who got schooled by Fury!
IMO! I can name 5 heavyweight currently that will beat Ortiz in 2019.
-Joshua
-Wilder
-Fury
-Whyte
-Usyk
- and possibly Parker & Ruiz!
He is an alumnus of the Cuban school, trained at La Finca.
He beat Bryant Jennings more impressively than Wladimir Klitschko did and almost slept Deontay Wilder.
Of course he's really that good. Just ask Dillian Shyte...he's terrified of facing Ortiz.
You're not hearing anything but selective viideos. Ortiz has been challenged by Joyce while he was with Haye. Ortiz declined Whyt e in 2016 and wanted more time to prepare for Whyte in June 2018 which he said he needs a few more months and he would need until October. Ortiz could have fought AJ but left his mandatory spot to fight Wilder after he was guaranteed a contract but didn't want to hear it.
You guys just be in need of a father figure of sorts to pump this guy up, even David Allen jumped at him ? He's not avoided at all.:bottle:
And Ortiz has accepted the challenge just like he accepted Dillian Whyte Challenge...
Lets see if it happens but don't hold your breath, Joyce Trainer is saying "No Yet" which I agree
As for Whyte, Luis Ortiz had to jump on Twitter and respond to Dillian Whyte and issues the challenge. However, Ortiz manager Jay Jimenz said when speaking to Eddie Hearn they was offered a 3 Fight deal for a lot of money to go back to Matchroom with neither of them being Dillian Whyte
If he wasn't then people would be rushing to fight him but instead Ortiz is being turned down by other contenders because he is clearly dangerous despite being "OLD"
This is part of the myth that it seems some still believe.
Ortiz has had loads of offers to fight people. He turns them down. He had an offer to headline a ppv with Whyte but didn't take it.
Some people say well why doesn't Joshua, Fury etc take the fight. Why should they? What has Ortiz actually done to deserve a shot at the elite? For his fight against Wilder he fought a guy who lost 3 of his past 5 fights and was given a shot at the title because of it.
If I remember correctly Parker offered him a deal prior to the Whyte fight.
Ortiz is just looking for that last pay day and he doesn't deserve it until he actually does something of note.
he would put Shyte and AJ in bodybags. that's all you need to know. Shyte was offered a direct shot at WBC title if he got past Ortiz and turned it down like a hoe so all this talk that the Cuban brings nothing to the table is nonsense. and the way AJ was getting lit up by Povetkin is all i needed to see to know Ortiz flatlines that juiced up weightlifter.
Re
His last couple of opponents thought he was getting old, and thought they were gonna be a tough guy :lol1:.
They get hit, either shake the head "no", or sign language with the gloves, "bring it on" or "so what". When Ortiz sees this, he goes, okay, here's some MORE punches that dont hurt :lol1:!
The one guy got knocked down, and was stumbling around the ring, and the other got decked 2-3 times :lol1:! So he very much still has it, but guys feel like it's not worth the risk!
I agree. I said "becoming" because father time is catching him from behind as he, like all of us is losing a step. he is at a point where at any time he will become old, heavyweights get a few more years, but it happens to the best of them. But I think he is a fantastic fighter.Yeah, I hear ya. I get your point bro. Really no one knows for sure how old he is anyhow. He could be as young as 39 or as old as 50. We will never know.
With only one loss I just don't see how he can remotely be a gatekeeper. A gatekeeper has several losses on their record. He is favored to beat all of the top ranked contenders that's why he is being avoided.

I think Ortiz and Whyte are probably 4 and 5 in the Heavyweight division. You have to give Whyte number 4 because of his resume but I think him and Ortiz could go either way.
What are you comparing here? People have to evaluate performance not simply wins and losses. Ortiz almost beat Wilder, thats pretty damn good. Hes smart, has elite level skills with fading physical ability due to age. Probably becoming more of a gate keeper at this point but always a live dog. Whyte Ortiz would be a great fight actually. I think both guys are excellent and had a steller performance against one of the top dogs. With only one loss I just don't see how he can remotely be a gatekeeper. What does it mean "Really that good?"

If you cant see his skill then you an idiot trying to downgrade him to take away credit from Wilder.
There's a reason other HW's pretend he doesnt exist. A southpaw with one shot KO power lol. Not a lot of HW's want smoke with king kong
Yes! He must be that is why he is being consistently avoided and ducked. Anthony Joshua shouldn't allow Wilder to show him up. He should challenge him also. As a matter of fact, if I was him, I will make Luis Ortiz my next title defense if there is no Wilder undisputed bout.
Some people get sold on hype, they don’t even need to prove it in the ring. The “No one wants to fight him” is the easiest excuse that boxing fans always throw out. They did with Margarito and they did with GGG. If you are not an attractive opponent that brings something to the table then some boxers might not want to give you a chance unless you are a mandatory. Ortiz is good technically but it would be nice to see him against then other guys at HW.
