I'm not paying to watch this on ppv. Maybe if Mikey had at least ONE win at 147 I'd be more intrigued, but this is just too farfetched. A lightweight jumping up two divisions to challenge the most feared man in the welterweight division? I'm going to laugh if Mikey gets stopped within the first three rounds and everybody who paid an arm and a leg to watch the fight realize they were scammed by whoever's promoting this nonsense.

Lara was stupid for going toe to toe with Hurd. Lara is one of the best pure boxers in the sport, that's his biggest advantage and he didn't even use it in the Hurd fight. And even though he outboxed Canelo he lost the decision because he ran too much. Then he lost the Hurd fight simply because he tried to go toe to toe instead of outboxing him. He could've won both fights simply by using a better game plan. He has no one to blame but himself, and his team.
I really wish the williams fight would've happened,or the ortiz fight, or the kirkland fight so we can see just what canelo is really made of. But I guess it's a money thing.It's now or ne er for these two to get it on and it's just too much money to pass up.

90% of the attendees of that fight won't have the slightest idea of what's going on or who the hell Liam Smith is, just like 90% of them didn't know who the hell Kahn, Lara, Angulo, or Kirkland were. They just go to see and be seen and be part of the atmosphere.
And by "Mexico" they mean anywhere west of the Mississipi River in the United States; Nevada, California, Texas. Hell now that Ruiz is known they can probably turn New York into Mexico, Canelo already fought there.

Danny Jacobs is backed up by Haymon, Hearn, and HBO, that's money on top of money on top of money. WBO champ vs DJ who almost beat GGG, the two biggest names at 160 outside of GGGCanelo. That's a big deal and a big event for Barclays Center or in UK. No doubt BJS gets offered a bigger payday than the Lemieux fight. The winner is almost guaranteed a shot at GGG/Canelo winner. A true 50/50 fight.
There are a million reasons why this fight makes perfect sense for all parties involved, especially the fans.
But it all comes down to if BJS wants to let his nuts hang and dare to be great. Does he welcome a big challenge and a decent payday with DJ or does he play it safe and wait to cash out his belt with GGG/Canelo winner?
Another thing to keep in mind is that a GGG fight probably doesn't bring in much more $$$ than the Jacobs fight, so if BJS does pass on Jacobs he better hope that Canelo wins the GGG rematch.

This whole thing was Mikey's idea. Shafer was against it initially so Haymon was probably against it too. Mikey probably had to ask them more than once to make the fight.
I don't see how this fight benefits Spence other than monetarily. Beating Mikey won't gain him much credit from boxing fans. And Mikey isn't risking much either. If he loses he can use the excuse he was outsized and he can go right back to being a champion at 140. I'd much rather see these guys unifying with guys in their own weight class.
This loeffler guy is a horrible businesperson. He could've easily lined up a fight for GGG for Dec or Jan and still have plenty of time to make the Canelo fight May 5th. Instead he let Golden Boy string him along not committing to the May 5th fight, and here it is almost 2018 and they STILL don't have a deal done.
Not only does this f*ck over GGG causing him to lose out on more fights, but it f*cks over the whole mw division. Guys like Jacobs, Charlo, Saunders, Derevchenko deserve their shot at a belt too.
