Orite, have been following the forum for a while but havn't posted until now.
The problem with Floyd is that he makes it look TOO EASY! he makes his opponents look like amatuer fighters, and this is where all the hate stems from. Floyd is cherrypicking, Floyd is fighting another guy who's over the hill etc. Casual boxing fans love to see toe-to-toe battles and will say 'But Floyd hasn't been in any wars, he cant be deemed as great'...But as Floyd himself says 'There is nothing cool in taking punishment' and why should he, for the fans? If i was in Floyds shoes and had the same talent i'd do the same, and im sure if you are all honest so would you.
When you look back before his fights you never heard any of the excuses....Mosley was going to KO him, Hatton would pressure him and bully him, Corrales was too big and would KO him....the list goes on. After the fight is done it was Floyd cherrypicking. No, the realities are that Floyd is lightyears ahead of any of this generation in talent and skill.
Sure it would have been great if Floyd was in an era with Leonard, Hearns, Chevez Snr, Whittiker but he wasnt and that is something Floyd can do nothing about. He might not have kept his '0' in them era's but you can guaruntee he wouldn't have looked out of place.
I've got laugh when people call him a coward and question his resume, someone who is a 5 weight world champion regardless of who he fought is not a coward. Now, for him to cement his legacy I reckon Martinez has to be the fight he takes and I reckon its a toss-up. Floyds lack of power at 154 could be a major factor in the fight but if he boxes smart he takes a close UD.
The only problem is if he outboxes Martinez , it'll all start again. The reality is folk will want him to keep fighting till he drops his '0' and until then they'll continue to say he's a cherrypicker and a coward, when in reality he was just too good in this era.
(And before i get the usual hate, i am also a massive Pacquiao fan)
