For 12 rounders they anounced the official judges scoring every 4 rounds. I like it. I think is harder to steal a fight from a fighter, if he knows how crooked the judges are ealier in the fight(4th rnd). He will know that he has to pressure the action thus giving the public a more action packed fight. We 'll also get to know which fighters show no heart by coasting ( a la tito-de la Hoya fight) when they are ahead comfortably on the cards.
This is a good point but I don't think it will stop hometown decisions because let's face it some of these judges wouldn't give a shit if it was open scoring or not. I'm against open scoring at the minute but just because I'm not used to it I think, maybe in the future (providing they continue to use it) I'll change my mind.
Any body notice the screaming at the winky fight? Its not just normal fans, the same voice screams none stop. I notced it in the mayorga vs de la hoya fight. None stop OSCARRRRRRRRR chant same in barrera rocky winky ike mosely vargas. Kind of crazy, its the same damn guy.
This is a pointless thread by the way. Just wondering if anybody else notice
Jesus that guy was annoying. I was dying for somebody to knock him out.
I live in England so it was 4-5 am when the Winky-Quartey fight was on, I was pissed off and tired.
its a bit early to judge khan yet
of course he has been fighting hand picked opponents,he is just starting out.
hes only 20
At last someone with a bit of sense!!
:stupid: oh dear we are going to have at least another 2 years of glass chin kahn fighting hand picked oppenents making millions off the back of us brits who are gullible enough to think he`s a great fighter . then he will fight a world class fighter and get knocked out. another 2 year of hype and con oh shit.
If I was you I would seriously consider taking a long walk of a short pier, Amir Kahn is not considered to be a great anyone yet. However you can see the potential he has to be one of the best unless your blind. Of course he's gonna fight some more stepping stone fights you loser its part of his learning process.
Every time he gets in the ring he looks better and one day your gonna wish you didn't start this thread.:boxing:
Was it just me or did the guy sound like Sloth from the Goonies?
http://lacrudarealidad.blogsome.com/uploads/lacrudarealidad/sloth-goonies.jpg
LOL, yeah but sloth was more intelligent.
Hopkins wants Calzaghe, Calzaghe wants Hopkins. There should be no reason why this fight cannot happen.
Let's hope not, but you know what Warren's like he will try to protect his investment, which I suppose doesn't make much sense because if he wants a maximum return on his boxers he should want them in the big fights.
The HW is becoming the worst division in boxing....4 title holders that with all honesty could have aspire to be maybe journeyman in the bigone era of the Golden age of the HW's....
Vladimir Klitschko- a KO waiting to happen
Valuev-nothing more than a circus act....no skills and who ever said he does, please better buy a copy of "Boxing for Dummies"
Oleg Maskaev-won the title on one of the most boring HW fights I saw up to that date...worst that any HW fights on ESPN Friday night fights..a disgrace for Rahman, but he has walk that path before...many times...
Briggs- well up to Rahman v. Maskaev that was the worst but then came Sergie and Shannon...OMG....this was painful to watch....to Serguei's credit he was not 100% begin Kenny Weldon not to cancel the fight....and Shannon a man that can threw more than 13 punches per round for more than 3 rounds ....embarrasing...
I want to see Peter v. Vladdy;s rematch and maybe finallywe can start unifiying with worth while boxers....
I think you might have been a little bit harsh on this thread but I can understand your frustration with the HWs. Its been boring for a while now, I would rather see a pair of good welterweights, light-middleweights or middleweights go at it.
I know what you mean, mate, but I just dont see Warren risking his only world star against Hopkins, I really don't. He might risk him against Taylor but I really can't see it against Hopkins. The only reason Hatton fought Tszyu was because he was threatening to leave Warren. Calzaghe isnt, and won't, and so I don't think he'll get the Hopkins fight. There'll be some excuse from Warren, just like with Haye vs Maccarenelli and god knows how many other fights that never happen.
Good point. As a fighting man Calzaghe must surely want to fight the best (and has been quoted saying so) but if he doesn't step up and demand to fight them then I would have to concede your point that Warren won't let him. Which is a big shame because Calzaghe is wasted on fighters like Lacy who wasn't an established boxer like B-Hop, Lacy was (I hesitate to say "is") a good prospect rather than someone at the top of his game.
I hope he fights Calzaghe next, but it wont happen cos Joe's promoted by Frank Warren.
I hope he fights Calzaghe, or Calzaghe fights Taylor, I really want to see Joe fight a big name. Also, Frank Warren might be a wanker (and he probably is) but he's a businessman and would probably make a decent fight if he can get the right money.
OK... let's hear who you think is more deserving to fight Taylor now?Taylor says he wants to fight the best in his division.
Winky Wright will not take the rematch now.
Abraham is nowhere close to being ready to fight anyone.
According to Dibella he offered a fight to Sturm, Carrera and Castillejo but they all turned it down.
So Dibella thinks these guys are more deserving than Miranda??? OK, so say he does. Well they turned down the fight. So who's next??? How far down the list he he gonna go to avoid fighting Miranda?
The bottom line is, Miranda scares the shit out of Dibella and he wants to stay far away and protect his money bag. He says he will fight the best, but only if the best can't hurt him! What a bunch of bullshit!
Put simply, Calzaghe. Nobody has mentioned him as yet, I think he has a good chance of beating Taylor but he claims that Taylor isn't ready to fight him (which is bullshit).
Everyone needs to calm down, there are good points and bad about both America and Britain. True some Americans are arrogant but so are some British, I don't see why people are even talking about this on a boxing forum.
Yes Britain colonised America, that was hundreds of years ago were any of you alive then? No, well lets concentrate on boxing and let go of the petty and pointless argument that this has turned into.
The USA has given us the greatest boxers of all time, sorry but it's true, look at it logically. I am proud to be British but I'm not going to say British boxers are p4p the best in the world when its not true.
:grouphug: :grouphug:
You bullshit artist. It's your article you phoney. I can't stand when people try to sneak on here with bullshit stories. "Hey Look I Found A Great Article"
LOL, chill out man, go easy on the guy!!! Its his first post!!
who's going to train you? I mean, no disrespect but do you know what the hell you're gonna do once you get all this equipment (its expensive)? If you live far away from a gym and you don't have at least someone looking out on the way your hitting the bag etc. at least you should get a training video.
To answer your question, you know what I liked a lot, those water filled heavy bags, man those are good, I think they also sell like a round bag which is like 70 pounds or so, for combining upper cuts with hooks, those are good too. If you're going to get a speed bag, make sure the platform is heavy and over 2 inches thick to bounce the bag back at a good speed. Get a good size mirror where you can see your full self, abs bench would be nice and run at least 3 miles a day, combine it with sprint repetitions, try skipping (get the heavy handles to start with, it'll help) at least 6 mins straight. Good luck buddy.
I would tend to agree with this guy but there's nothing wrong with a bit of heavy bag work so crack on. However, 16oz gloves? Sound like sparring gloves to me just use bog standard punch-bag mitts you don't need anything fancy for the presumably limited training you'll be doing.
Lacy finished unlike Tyson against Danny Williams or Tyson - McBride or like Tszyu vs. Hatton. Where are you trying to get at? Or do you just feel like bashing a great fighter? Very unclassy and immature to throw random cheap shots like that... These kinds of posts make me sick of this board... :nonono:
I agree that people shouldn't throw cheap shots at Lacy, however I dont think he's all he's cracked up to be. Just look at what Calzaghe did to him, no torn rotator cuff in that fight he was completly outclassed (sorry Lacy fans).
I know the British people love Tyson, some of them thinks he's the best HW of all-time. I will be pissed too if I was one of the idiots that paid $200 just to meat the dumbest person of all-time.
I'm not hating on Tyson, but all Tyson fans can agree that he's probably the dumbest person of all-time, let's not forget that he made 350 mil in his career but now he's broke.
How can you go from calling him "the dumbest person of all-time" to "I'm not hating on Tyson"? The poster who said you can't fault his boxing knowledge is right, he has an extensive knowledge of boxing history according to those closest to him which is rare amongst any fighter let alone some one who is reputedly ill educated.
Lets not forget education does not begin and end with schooling, I know more than one person with a "poor education" who are more intelligent than some of my more schooled friends. I believe that Tysons erratic and sometimes disturbing behaviour stems from psychological problems rather than stupidity.
Also anyone who thinks Tyson is "the best HW of all time" can't really have enough knowledge to say such a sentence, he may have been one of the most exciting boxers but even Tyson would agree (using his own encyclopedic knowledge of boxers past) that he isn't the best.
It appears that WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe is no longer sure about facing middleweight king Jermain Taylor in 2007. The South Wales Echo reports that after Calzaghe witnessed Taylor's title defense against former junior middleweight champion Kassim Ouma, he felt Taylor is not ready for a fighter of his caliber. details]
If he believes this to be true, when will Taylor be ready? By the time he is Calzaghe would have presumably (and somewhat conveniently) retired. If he doesn't fight Taylor he had better fight Winky or he's going to be considered to be a paper champion. Come on Joe, fight one of the big boys for gods sake!!!
