After watching tonight's Strikeforce matches, I have officially made up my mind that MMA is a joke. It is a ridiculous display of unskilled street fighting with few or no rules that make any sense.
Tonight I found out that it is perfectly okay in MMA to hit a guy in the back of the head with your elbow or fist potentially causing major brain damage, but a low blow is a cardinal sin. It is okay to knee a guy in the head when he is on the floor, but you can't hold onto the cage when you are grappling. This is a joke and in no way will it ever reach the pinnacle that boxing has reached.
:bsflag: :thumbsdow :moon:
Strikeforce is a joke more than MMA is a joke. The UFC has its flaws but it's a pretty good product, Strikeforce (especially tonight and in general recently) is horrible. The announcers are so terrible. Some of the refs are pathetic (blows to the back of the head are illegal, just not always called) and the production just has an amateurish feel to it.
Disgusting...
"heavyweight champion" ummm actually that title belongs to Klitschko.
shoddy journalism.
This is disgusting, I am embarassed as a boxing fan.
We need to redeem our sport and the only way that happens is by a boxer beating an MMA fighter in boxing.
Boxing promoters need to make it happen.
Nick Diaz and KJ Noons are the two most high profile MMA fighters that you could get in a boxing ring these days IMO. I'd love to see either of them get ****ed up by a legitimate top boxer.
Show me where Toney said he wanted Couture. I heard Dana White say Couture called him and told him he wanted Toney.
Toney wanted a fight in the UFC. Couture was willing to give it to him. There's nothing cowardly about it, they both wanted to fight an MMA fight, never should Couture have to fight in boxing.
Kinda cowardly you would beg to fight Toney in MMA but not in Toney's sport. Nobody seems to like to box these slick african americans go figure.
Toney was the one begging to fight Couture, Couture just obliged him. There's nothing cowardly about Couture. Just because you're not a fan of his sport you shouldn't disrespect Couture as a person.
this is true. james wanted lesnar i think.
Kimbo Slice and Chuck Liddell were the only other names I remember Toney mumbling. Kimbo is terrible and pretty much a side show fighter and Liddell's done and Dana White doesn't want him fighting anymore. Toney obviously wasn't getting the HW champ of the UFC without a single MMA victory to his credit. But Toney wanted a fight in the UFC, and that's what he got in Couture.
I have no idea why Anderson Silva would want to be humiliated by a 40 year old man in a boxing ring.
RJJ wants to go in the UFC under MMA rules. Either way it's not much of a fight, in an MMA match Silva kills him and in a boxing match RJJ kills him. It doesn't sound like Dana White is gonna let it happen in the UFC.
The guy's been a good enough fighter to earn some time to decide his future. He has a big decision to make and I can't blame him for taking his time to make sure he does the right one.
