i could only give my ten cents worth on how i read these things....
bob, i think by saying someone has to guarantee floyd's purse and also asking for a late may fight is tossing the ball into floyd's and gbp's courts...
bob is trying to put pressure to gbp (who bob may rightly or wrongly think gbp is presently not in a position to make the guarantee) and luring floyd to go tr way for floyd's guaranteed purse...
the late may sched is to give time for raising or completing investors/promotional contracts-which are not really so easy to finalize considering the staggering costs...
Floyd is his own boss as he says, so that means he pays himself. Why does he need a guarantee from himself?
He also can't just be moving his agreed date. He did that in Atlanta last year, and the judge didn't like that at all.
Same threads over and over.
Floyd can't just be changing the date with the judge that he agreed too. Did you see what happened to him when he pulled that in Atlanta?
The judge didn't think that was alright, and penalized him.
Most of these high level athletes are using PEDs, so yes I think he used them and still uses them. Sports medicine is designed to get 100% out of your bodies potential.
Legality of it, is the only question.
Pacfans will all vote no.
The truth is because they are not American #1, boring stiffs #2.
Vitali quitting against Byrd made me not a fan of him.
They are great & effective, but not too exciting.
The reason this fight never happened in the first place, I think is nothing more than realizing that money would not be as great as it could be.
Pac beat Clottey as expected, and Floyd beat Shane as expected. Heres the deal.....No matter who Floyd had fought (Paulie, Shane, Matthew Hatton<---heard his name tossed around at the time), it makes the best sense money wise.
Now you have the fans (and sadly the "fan boys"), who are willing to leave their wives to see this fight happen. Its getting that intense. It seems like a plot from the beginning. Give them a taste, then leave them wanting more.
What this does is now, makes 2x the money they wouldve made had they fought in March. March to me was never realistic. A fight this big, is not gonna just have a road to Vegas/Dallas promo with 1.5 weeks of promoting. 24/7 will rise to a whole new level as interest from people who could care less about the sport and are pro MMA.
This fight will get DONE. This just seems to me nothing more than a way to market this fight and get everyone all worked up. Heck i wouldnt be surprised if the PPV cost went up. It wouldnt matter because we are going to BUY IT. Bob Arum and GBP behind all this just makes it kinda hard to believe that this fight is on its last lifeline. Now the money is going to 3x over what would have been made in March. This whole drug testing is nothing more than to create sides and make people tune in, and have their passion for one fighter become stronger, while making hate for the other just as strong. It pleases the masses.
I'm inclined to believe most of your post. I think they can continue to make $ outside of each other as long as one of them doesn't lose. The $$ and demand will be so great that the fight will have to happen and the fans will pay for it.
$79.95 PPV is going to happen.
Sorry mate Floyd didn't have a hand on Vegas/Dallas talk, apparently Golden Boy is pretty tied up with the MGM as Arum is with Jerry Jones. It was GBP who balked at going to Dallas FYI.
GBP was going to go to Dallas just to humor them, Floyd side said no. They told Arum, "Floyd isn't fighting outside". This is what Arum said, maybe GBP told Floyd it isn't in their best interest.
Back to the 14-day number.
The number will never be back on the table.
OK fair enough.
I think all along it's ARUM who don't want this fight. After the 1st negos he was the first one who went to the media and said the other team don't wanna fight, he said the 14 day offer was made after the negos with the mediator and was later refuted.
Now all these and Arum's turning to the media again and not on the proper negotiating table.
Arum is a clown and wants total control of everything. When the negotiations were going on he said there was a gag order but he kept leaking stuff and GBP called him on it. Floyd said if the fight happens, it is happening in Las Vegas not anywhere else, but Arum insisted on having a meeting with Jerry Jones in Dallas and said Floyd was disrespectful for not going.
This fight ain't happening, and if it does it will be full testing no cutoff.
Just shut the hell up, boy.
there's no need for OSTs if it's easy work, easy payday.
He's cleaning up boxing. :boxing:
Arum is just trying to get the public opinion back on is side, he doesn't care about the fight.
Floyd is relaxing and is not negotiating with anybody, when he does there will be no cutoff, then Pacfans will say Pac doesn't have to give in to that and Floyd's ducking him.
For testing to matter, there needs to be 0 cut off.
