Bernard Hopkins has a greater legacy than Floyd mayweather. Hopkins major wins- Trinidad, DeLaHoya, Tarver, Wright. Mayweathers major wins-Corrales, Hatton, DeLaHoya. Enough said.

Well if its longevity, Judah has that. The only way you can attain that is by remaining relevant. The only way you can remain relevant is by being able to competitively participate in the sport. Despite his losses, Judah always gave a game effort and rebounded effectively. He came back from a loss to Tszyu to beat Corley, loss to Spinks but won the rematch, and gave a good effort in his bouts with Baldomir, Mayweather and Cotto and despite the fact that he loss all three, is STILL being considered for a super fight with Mosley. Not to mention he is currently ranked #5 by the RING MAG, #9 by the WBA, and #3 by the IBF. If you ask me, Judah has longevity and some. Just my 2 cents. I know boxing.

Judah-Mosley? If its true, we're in for a potential FOTY candidate. But this fight is gonna be decided on who has something left in the tank. Both men are battle-torn warriors, who have given there all in the sport and are past their prime. What theyre both fighting for at this point is relevancy in the upper echelons of the WW division. And that can be a very big motivator, especially when you have 2 guys who strongly believe in themselves and their abilities. Both have speed, a decent amount of power and intelligence, and just the right amount of holes in their defense to make a memorable bout. Add on the fact that both have tenacity and pop, and a certain ferocity they can unleash at any moment. Itll be fun while it lasts, and will prove that even challengers can fight like champions. Whats great about this bout is, the winner is almost guaranteed a shot at one of the titleholders, and when you think about it, either of these guys would make a great fight with either Cotto, Cintron, Williams, and Mayweather. is there gunna be odds. like if we were betting real money. like if you call the round cause i gamble a lot especially on big boxing matches. and called the rounds on pavlik taylor I and mayweather hatton and won big money. so i mean maybe it'll be beter if theres different odds on each round or better odds for a KO if the fighter isnt a KO artist and what not. I didnt want to make it too elaborate. I figured it would be in the same vein as a pool, or a lottery. Everyone makes a prediction and buys-in to the thread. Different fights will have different buy-ins, like a craps table in Vegas. The more people who cast a prediction, the bigger the pool gets. Whoever makes the correct prediction collects all the money in the pool. If theres more than 1 winner, the pool money is split.

Good contributions thus far. I want to set up a prediction thread like this weekly when there are fights. Been thinking to do it for a few weeks, see how the reception is and them maybe introduce a buy in for the predictions. I know alot of u guys have e-money on the board and bet on fights and what not. Oscar could beat Floyd if... He worked on his conditioning, utilized his jab for the duration of the fight, and attacked at a steady but consistent pace. You cant wait for Floyd and let him set himself up. You do that and he just picks you apart. Oscar fights flat fooded to conserve energy. What he doesnt realize is that by doin that, u give more of a stationary target to your opponent. If he works in his conditioning, he'd be able to fight on his toes, coupled with a consistent jab, and he has a really good chance. But honestly, the strategy to beat Floyd is nothing new. Problem is, no one has been able to consistently go through with the strategy. You saw Oscar do it for 4 rounds, Zab Judah do it for 5. Bare in mind the last prime fighter Floyd has fought is Ricky Hatton, a natural junior welterweight. Before that, Phillip N'dou is 2003. I think he beats Cotto due to speed, beats Cintron due to speed/intelligence, beats Mosley due to prime skills, but will have fits with Margarito and Williams, big guys who have the height/reach advantage, big punch outputs, and good speed. I agree that Floyd is picking a safe fight to pad his pockets. They made stupid money in the first, and lets be honest, if any of us were floyd we'd naturally want to make stupid money again. Pavlik moving from 160 to 175 would naturally slow him down, it wouldnt make him faster. The weight would suit him well becuz of his tall, lean frame, but it would hinder his speed. You cant really say if his power would increase/decrease. In any case, Jones is the natural LH and would obv have the speed advantage. Speed kills, unless nullified by power or ring generalship. Pavlik's work rate would enable him constantly apply pressure to Jones, but the added weight might limit the amount of punches he can throw. Jones also has the intelligence on his side, whereas Pavlik is pretty one dimensional (double jab- right hand). Jones' speed, intelligence, and weight advantages could give him a really great chance to win this fight. Pavliks reach, height, power and punch output advantages give him a really great chance as well. All this makes for a great fight. Unfortunately, I seriously doubt itll happen. Win lose or draw Pavliks fighting Duddy later with a unification with Abraham later in the year. Im thinking Jones will be sidelined and face the winner of Calzaghe-Hopkins in his next fight. Now, the fact that Hatton is a natural junior welterweight is another issue, but it doesnt discount that this was a welterweight defense. We have to stick to the facts and adhere to the rules when we form our opinions. Granted, I agree that Floyd should be fighting natural WW fighters in their prime, it doesnt change the fact that he became linear WW champ when he beat Baldomir, was allowed to fight at junior middleweight against Oscar, and then came back to WW to defend against Hatton. I believe the WBC should be enforcing its mandatories upon Mayweather instead of giving him repeated extensions. And Mayweather, as a true prize fighter and champion, should be constantly seeking to fight the best. floyd would need to give up his belts to fight Oscar, or be stripped, unless the WBC gives him an extension for the Oscar fight. I believe his talent has lead to those accomplishments, its never been denied hes one of the most talented fighters out there. If his intelligence is measured by those things you named, what do we measure his lack of focus, staying out at clubs all night, and messing around in the ring causing him to get KOd by Kostya, a fighter he was clearly better than??? You chalk those moments up to him not utilizing his intelligence. Just because you're intelligent doesnt mean ull never lose, or make mistakes. Boxing is a competition. Yes, Judahs a smart fighter. But there are smarter fighters, more intelligent fighters than he is. But that doesnt take away from his own intelligence.

i like both fighters.. but at this point... its LONG from a superfight I think you might be underestimating Shane Mosleys star power and celebrity. Itll do great PPV numbers and will sell-out wherever they place the fight. But I think what makes this fight more super than anything is the electricty and fireworks both men will produce in the ring.

Darkvladimir How can you rate Joel Casamayor above Juan Diaz given Casa's last performance and Diaz's last 2 performance? Also, what DO you think of Floyd Mayweather's career as of now? I didnt rate Casamayor over Diaz. The thread in question was asking for opinions on who was the best LW in the past. The 4 in question were Casamayor, Castillo, Corrales and Freitas, to which i felt Casamayor in his prime due to his handspeed, his punch output and ring generalship. In terms of now, Juan Diaz all the way. In terms of Mayweather's career, hes had an illustrious one. You cant take away from his natural abilities or his P4P status. What bothers me is the criticism he is receiving from the boxing world on his opposition lately. I wish that he would move to focus more on fighting the best fighters out there, instead of the most financially beneficial fighters. I mean, IMO Mayweather beats Cotto, Mosley, Cintron. I just wish he would fight them becuz that would further his legacy and add more great fights with fighters in their prime to his career. All in all, his career has been great, but not as great as it could be becuz of the caliber of fighters he has faced as of late. If you dont have 10,000 ill give you it. I will then copy-paste a Bodog.com betting sheet, or some professionaly made odds from a website on all the fights during the upcoming week, onto a new post in this board. And you can choose which fights and which bets to bet on, but u must bet all of your points. So the bets include who will win a particular fight, and if the fight will last over/under a particular round. You can choose which bets u wanna bet on and how many points u want to bet on each one, and all that stuff. but again, u have to bet all ur points every week. At the end of everyweek, the 2 lowest scores get the boot. Any revisions to the idea or any new ideas??? Cause this is also easier for me too it just relies on honor stystem. Oh, and you bet by donating points to me and in "donation reason" you put ur bet. So the players will also have to trust me too, but im not gonna keep any of your points. thoughts???
