I don't know @fightposium but I actually posted this on twitter 2hrs before and my own site. Oh well, hope this happens!!!
"In speaking with a source close to the camp of Denver’s undefeated “Mile High” Mike Alvarado (33-0-0, 23 KOs), they have confirmed to me that Alvarado appears be close to finalizing a deal to face former world titlist Zab Judah on the September 15th Chavez/Martinez undercard."
Here's what I think happened. I bet Arum and Top Rank had Alvarado sign his end of the contract, getting the hopes of Alvarado and his camp up. TR getting their ducks in a row to perhaps offer Marquez a "fight one of our guys and then get a 4th Pacquiao fight". Just my guess...
I agree. I'm from Denver, Alvarado's hometown, and the word has made it around town. No real reason for Marquez to go up to 140lbs, fight one of the biggest punchers at JWW who holds no title.
I can't see Alvarado beating JMM. Alvardo has a tough time fighting inside, he needs space to throw his big shots. JMM would press him inside. No doubt that it has potential to be a good fight if it is indeed signed, but I still can't see why it would be made. No 140lb belt up for grabs, unless they're getting one of the sanctioning bodies to make it for a vacant belt.
Hard to believe. Dude is notorious for dropping weight in last week if not day of weigh in. Couple fights ago, he was 149 day of weigh in and missed weight on his first attempt. Had to go in parking lot and jog and jump rope to drop last pound. Not uncommon, but doubt he's that close to weight two weeks out.
Where is the information about this being at Cowboys Stadium? I haven't heard that anywhere....
Mannix of SI.com broke the story. Rafael mentioned during his chat.

"OK, Freaks, we have breaking news.
Dan Rafael (5:02 PM)
That was Vinny Scolpino, Josh Clottey's manager. He told me he and Bob talked money in the last hour or two and they have agreed on their end of the fight. He said Clottey was ecstatic and will be returning to the US from Ghana on Monday. Nothing signed yet, not official but their side is in."

Nail in the coffin.
Exactly. Just look at the weigh in photos and you can tell the difference. Look at his face and how sunken in it is from draining weight compared to him fighting at a more "natural" weight.
dude delahoya outweighed him by 20lbs and landed flush shots and floyd smiled every time and kept coming. he was never once hurt. Floyd took shots from the hardest hitting ww in judah and was never fazed. Chico Corrales who was bigger than floyd and a big puncher never fazed floyd. lol
How quicly we forget abouth the knockdown that wasn't scored in the Judah fight...:bsflag:
Who cares about Mayweather??? Am on a thread about Pacquiao, So please dont come ask me questions about Mayweather when my post was in answer to a Pacquiao post.
Don't be so adamant about one fighter and not another. Call a spade a spade.
then why is floyd fighting paulie or mathew?
at least yuri has a belt.
Exactly. Floyd fan's will come in here and bash Pac but really who is May gonna fight? He's the epitome of a "cherry picker".
I dont give a toss about Mayweather, You guys dont get it. Because i dont agree with Pac doesnt mean i like Mayweather or agree with his decisions. Your boy" WTF is this high school??
I hear you and you're 100% right about your feelings for one fighter doesn't mean you don't feel one way or another about another fighter.
In all reality, is it the best fight @ 154? No, but none the less it is a move up in weight and a NEW challenge. I can see calling him a cherry picker if he was going after an unproven, smaller fighter or even same class. He's moving up in weight, fighting a naturally bigger man who will out weigh him on fight night easily by 10 lbs.
And let's not kid ourselves, "paper champion" is straight bs. They didn't give Foreman his belt with the purchase of a medium pizza and soda. He earned it and now has the chance to defend it.
I am not from Puerto Rico and no it wasn't. It was a close fight. Tito swept the last 4 rounds. And, for the first 8rds Oscar did not win every single round.
The reason it was is because of the way it went down. Al most everybody had ODLH winning the 1st 4 rds and one judge had given 3 of 4 to Tito. The same judge, realizing how far ahead he had Tito because of his bias judging actually gave DLH the 12th rd. A bit of a robbery.
All of the sudden Flomo and Pac Hater are saying Pac is bigger then king kong and posting muscle pic of Pac..
What is it.. Is Pac small or is he big..
Solid Post, green K headed your way. :boxing:
Agreed.
Is it right? No.
Is it smart? Yes.
How can you say it's not right, but it's smart? Why justify something that's clearly wrong? Such a B move.
It doesn't matter who's doing it or why, it's a good thing for boxing again that is if you're a fan of boxing and not just a fan of Pac.
I have no problem actually with the testing, should it be mandated by the proper comissions. I think it is good for the sport and is needed, again mandated properly. Not by one camp, fighter, promotional company.
How am I justifying it? I said it was wrong if that was their intention.
Its smart business for Floyd to set himself up for an excuse or at least a rematch if he loses.
Has it crossed your mind that team Mayweather might actually believe that Pac is juicing?
I suppose, but who want's to having anything to do with a business like that?
But what if the Mayweather camp actually believed Manny was juicing and thats why they asked for it?
I wholeheartedly believe when Sr. originally said what he said he believed what he said.(even if it was Sr. dumbass)
Theres no way to know what camp Mayweathers intentions were. More than likely they figured Manny would take the Olympic style tests. When he didnt they used it to their advantage.....
Oh well, Paulie-Pac tix will be way cheaper when we're there.:boxing:
Are you kidding me? Floyd is doing this "to clean up the sport"? The sport that he has proclaimed to "steal some more money" from? Floyd could care less about boxing legacy, history, and the future of it. He is all about the here, now, and self. Be real.
so lemme understand you correctly....
the drug testing idea is fine. you like it, and think its a good step for the sport and all.....
but you don't agree in this case, b/c it's floyd mayweather jr., that decided to bring it up?
:pat:
My issue is not with Floyd bringing it up, but any boxer requiring it. Why didn't Floyd bring it up in any of his prev. fights? I'm saying the powers that be need to make this the standard, not just for one fight. I'd applaud FMJ had he come out while not negotiating for a fight and said "you know, we should have more in depth testing".
Paulie is a decent fight, at best. Paulie is active enough to score on Manny and quick enough to give him fits... for about 5 rds. We all know that May isn't going to fight Mosley/Berto winner in May. No way, No how. I'd love to be proved wrong. Can't see how anybody could justify a Mayweather/M.Hatton fight. Sounds like May "steal some more money".
