These are the guys who make you or break you...
For those who don't know who Terry Norris is, all I can say is: you should be ashamed of calling yourself a boxing fan!! Not only Terrible Terry gave a beating to a decadent Sugar Ray Leonard but also landed one of the most brutal punches I have ever seen against John Mugabi. Felix Trinidad hid from this man for years until Julian Jackson KO'd him and afterwards Mullings, ending Norris's career. He was a brutal puncher but lacked chin, but exciting to watch and very fast and accurate. Youtube the guy, you won't regret it, fake boxing fans...
Shane Mosley is in for the beating of his life. This isnot a slow Margarito where he took advantage of his speed. This is a wrecking machine that throws punches in bunches from different angles. Mosley is gonna regret ever taking this fight. Is gonna be a nasty beatdown...
SEDA GOT ROBBED!!! I watched the fight, paid the PPV and I can tell you that he got jobbed. How stupid was of his promoters to fight him in his house with partisan crowd judging. Seda also got a bad ref who took a point for ghost low blows. Man I was MAD!! Still, Narvaez will stay in Argentina fighting clowns and Seda even in defeat proved his heart, will and technique...
You have in the FW's John, Gamboa, Mikey Garcia, Johnny Gonzalez, Luis Franco, Rojas and Caballero. Why fight somebody who's gonna be 37, you have already KO and quit in the corner. Come on man, move forward not backwards!!
Fantastic fight but i had it a little closer than the other 2 judges.
I agree, I had it a draw and it was a very good fight, wanna see them both again. Entertaining fight, shameful scorecards...
The fact remains that Floyd Mayweather was easily dominating Ortiz and as I knew all along, Ortiz couldn't block a right hand. Ortiz headbutted him out of frustration and Cortez took the point, correctly but then he messed up by not paying attention to the fight and started talking to Ortiz's corner, which is also to blame for distracting Cortez. Floyd Mayweather did what he does best, create controversy by hitting him while they were embracing as he did to Mosley in his last fight. Ortiz broke the cardinal rule in boxing tho:Protect yourself at all times...
Here's Pacquiao's legacy in a nutshell: Great FW and Jr LW, fought and beat HOF fighters. After he got with Arum and went up in weight he fought older, slower, beaten , stand in front of you-punching bags, all hype Pacquiao has been after his big wins at the smaller weights...
Khan won't fight Guerrero cause he's got almost the same physical tools as he does and the last time he made the mistake of fighting someone like that he got KO'd. Khan always fights either smaller, slower, or feather fisted fighters. I don't see Khan fighting a Ortiz, Guerrero, Prescott or anyone who's young, strong and fast. NO WAY!!
If Khan really wants to be great, like he says, he has to avenge this loss. Prescott is questioning his manhood and Khantucky Fried Chicken keeps running scared. I believe if they fight again Prescott KO's him again...
Nonito said one day before he wanted to fight Anselmo Moreno. How come is not Donaire avoiding JuanMa?? Had he asked for Lopez then it would've made sense. However he said nothing about fighting Lopez, matter of fact when Max Kellerman asked him he said and I quote:"I want to unify the division". Is Donaire the one afraid of JuanMa...
While I agree with some of what was written I have to say that also Bob Arum has an ego problem. He took the Pacquiao fight to Showtime as punishment for not taking the Cotto-Mayorga fight(which is garbage). However, HBO paying Berto 1.2 mill for fighting Freddy Hernandez was ultra-moronic. IMO HBO needs to work with promoters but have no favorites and accept nothing but excellence. If Arum wants to sell them Pacquiao-Mosley, the right thing is to decline it. At the same time having Khan-Mc Closkey makes this mind boggling. HBO should not showcase fighters but fights, if JuanMa wants to fight Gamboa have it, if he's fighting Salido don't. If Pacquiao wants to fight Marquez, have it if it's Mosley don't. Just don't take Berto vs Hernandez as it's sending the wrong message.
Montiel-Donaire, Martinez-Dzinziruk is fine, Khan-Mc Closkey is garbage...
Is JuanMa gonna be ready?? August is just four months away and the beating he took IMO was brutal. I think he should wait until december to fight him again or risk having a Roy Jones Jr vs Johnson happen to him...
I would love to watch a Rios-Ortiz fight, those kind of fights were one guy truly hates the other turn out to be awesome. Barrera and Morales truly hated each other and gave boxing fans some of three best fights I have ever seen. Eventually Rios will go up in weight and I hope it gets made...
I wanna see Khan-Guerrero, I think it could be a great fight. Guerrero is not only young but fast, a lefty and has the size and reach to compete very well and may pull off the upset win. Judah and Morales are old and the Maidana rematch needs another fight to get really desired. Maidana didn't look his est vs Morales and could use another tune up fight where he needs to look spectacular...
Prescott looked good and I see Amir Khan running as far away from this guy as humanly possible. This guy matches him size and lenght like no other at 140. Khan only will fight Prescott on Fight Night 4, that's as close as a Khan-Prescott fight will be...
McGirt sucks as a trainer, I dont understand how he keeps getting fighters!! Dude blows, anyway Martinez went into another level after the knockdown. Few fighters have another gear and he is one of them. Chavez jr will continue to duck him forever, or at least till he is 40. Good win for Sergio, like it or
not he continues to dominate the best in his division...
How is it possible that the WBA has 3 FW champions?? Gamboa, John and Barros. Then, How is it possible that you loose to a nobody and then become a mandatory?? Ridonkolous!!
Hagler vs Heanrs all over again. What a awsome fight!! I thought when Kirkland got dropped that it was over but my God it had just started. Props to Angulo for having the heart to keep fighting, I thought the corner should've stopped it...
Moreno is the longest reining champion at 118 with the most title defenses and the hardest opponent Nonito will face at 118. Even if people think Nonito is gonna win Moreno is the hardest fight he has at 118 and the way to unification and that's why the road for Donaire has to go thru Moreno. Mares-Donaire will never happen because this kuntz don't wanna match their fighters which IMO is hurting boxing. GBP and Top Rank need to stop acting like children and make up for the sake of the sport...
Great step up fights for both, with 21 years old and less than 20 fights these guys are going up in competition while the Chavez Jr and Canelo's are still fighting chumps after 40 fights. Orlandito is an amazing prospect and was a outstanding amateur, he even beat Luis Cruz back in the day as amateurs. Del Valle handspeed and stamina are great, Gonzalez is a bit slow and has a lot of work to do but overall they both showed me that they're at least progressing...
I think the reason boxing doesn't get the best matchups is what we see here. Once a fighter looses all of a sudden he's exposed. Even if they show heart and resilience and other great qualities we love in fighters it looks like we can't help but call the over rated, exposed or bums when in fact they're good fighters who lost to a better fighter that night. JuanMa, Berto, Kirkland, Lemieux, Marroquin and Perez are all good fighters who lost to a better man that night. It doesn't make them bums. They're all good fighters who just happen to loose a fight. They can all come back like Khan, Ortiz, Vic and others who have lost. Imagine if whane Pacquiao, Morales, Marquez, Khan, Maidana and others were bums when they lost a fight? We would have no good fighters...
I'm actually kind of sad that Margarito may not fight again, I really wanted to see Cotto and him fight again w/o plaster to see what's what. Now that is out the window I hope he recovers and think of his health, there's life after boxing and who knows, maybe he can become a trainer. I imagine if he does everytme he wraps hands they will be supervised...
Lebedev is a OK fighter, gave Toney a sound beating for 12 rounds. I think Lebedev didn't want to ko him but punish him for as long as he could.
Sylakh is the story here, this guy is a force to be reckoned with and IMO he beats every single LHW in the world...
I agree with Cunningham, the fight could have been stopped in the 4th when the cut was actually bleeding but they let the fight go on. When Uli Wegner saw that the fight was shifting towards USS Cunningham they stopped it even know the cuts were no longer bleeding. I knew they were gonna eventually rob him out there, he wasn't gonna get away with giving all those guys in Germany beatings like he did to Huck. They got to complain and get an inmediate rematch by the IBF but outside of Germany...
The difference between WV2 and JuanMa is that Vazquez hasn't gotten respect from the boxing world, he has a former world champion as his trainer and WV2 is always in the gym. Dude is a gym rat cause he knows he has no amateur background. I think Vazquez should winnthis fight by KO...
A Roman Gonzalez-Gio Segura fight has the mekings of Carbajal vs Gonzalez more than 20 years ago. Is the best fight that can be made in those weights and HBO/Showtime should pay attention to these two. I can't wait!!
I am Puertorican also and what I saw from Juanma was a guy who hasn't worked on his skills and still takes stupid punches and his punches lack technique.
Rocky Martinez has improved a lot in his skills and Oquendo fought a hot dog stand guy, so no surprise there. Had Juanma fought more rounds he would've taken more punches but IMO Salido beats him again if he doesn't work in his skills, making weight is not enough to win fights...
