Jahnsportforum, Neubrandenburg, Germany - There is controversy in Germany, after Yoan Pablo Hernandez (25-1, 13KOs) won a six round technical decision to capture the IBF cruiserweight title from Steve Cunningham (24-3, 12KOs). After getting dropped and hurt bad in the first round, Cunningham survived until the bell and managed to box his way back into the fight.

During the sixth round, a clash of heads opened up a bad cut on Hernandez. At the end of the round, Hernandez's corner informed the referee that Hernandez was unable to continue. The referee sent the fight to scorecards. Scores of 58-55 and 59-54 for Hernandez, and 57-56 for Cunningham.

Cunningham is screaming robbery, believing the fight was stopped by Hernandez's corner because momentum was starting to swing in the other direction.

"I am outraged by this decision. The fight could have been stopped much earlier, but this was done only after the sixth round to take my title. I'm mad, but I know one thing - I'm coming back to regain my title. I'm the best cruiserweight in the world and I can beat anybody. I'll be fine, and I'll regain the title. In the first round I had some trouble, but I quickly came back from that and I won this fight. I am a fighter. I am a champion. I will pick myself up and get back to the top," Cunningham said.
