Skill wise I dont think NO one was better then roy In the history of boxing...You can argue and say people like Ray leonard but that was at 147 or so..Roy had that same speed At 160 all the way till he fought Ruiz at 193...He was amazing all time list on mine he would probally be 2-3 cuz i usually look at the Talent more than askin my self could he beat ALi....U kno...Roy was so great I think if he had stayed at heavy after Ruiz he would probally be undisputed Champ right now..Think about it..He beat Ruiz...Lennox Retired so I think Roy woulda had 1st dibbs at fighting for those belts...Its sad now cuz I think he has deminished only because of the wieght drain to fight Tarver..Tarver is a big boy I wish Roy woulda just said u want me so bad Meet me at heavy and fight me 4 my WBA belt but he let his pride get the best of him and it cost him dearly...
I wouldn/t go THAT far. could he have been a factor at HW? yes but undisputed? no way too many Jolly Green Giants! he would have beaten Chris bird and held two of the three then he would have probably gotten stopped by Vitali. He is my favorite fighter of our time but not even he could have climbed that mountain.
Agreed, he really wasn't that good and if you took his reflexes away (even 75% of what they were) he wouldn't of done anything in the game at all.
take away your uncle's pecker and he'd be your aunt.
Actually, I belive we are talking long term effects. If it is just what is the most phyiscaly demanding sport "at the time" then yes there are a lot of sports that rival boxing and a few that surpass it, MMA being one of them.
However, you don't get the long term effects in MMA than you do in boxing. In boxing you get hit in the head A LOT more than MMA. Also, a lot of MMA strikes (espically elbows to the forehead) do facial damage while getting tagged on the chin with a right will kill brain cells.
Yes, getting elbows isn't excatly good for you, but based on how many times you get hit, where you get hit and how hard people are hitting, boxing is easily the hardest on the body over a long period of time.
i'll accept that
single contest MMA
longterm boxing
cant believe it took that long to get to UFC (MMA). MMA is the toughest thing to do. any one who doesnt believe me, go down to your local MMA gym and try to go a few rounds and you'll find out pretty quick that your boxing skills will get you about 1 min into the fight. that said boxing is #2
gotta be top 10. no one in our era dominated people like he did. all we have is the competition of our time and he made them look like amateurs making their debuts. I think he lost his focus and thought he could walk through anyone and that is why he lost his last two. If not for his overconfidence, he would have been top 5 no doubt.
silva easily!
but its not a fair match up. without royce, MMA wouldnt be where it is today, and neither would silva. back then no one knew that juijuitsu would be so dominate, so few trained in it. now nearly all fighters use it in their training in some form, but they are also well rounded in all aspects of the game. back then people were good at ONE thing and that was it. so now the fight game has evolved so much since UFC 1 that any good fighter from this generation would wreck the early guys. not to mention one of the TOP fighters.
ok this is a boxing forum, we need to great rid of the freaky MMA people who make threads about MAM street fights vs boxers, what a joke, BOXING FORUM HELLO
Like omg I like just totally like forgot where i was like i mean this is like a BOXING forum. HELLO wake up....lol j/k
snipes12, as you already declared you dont follow mma anymore since your boy frank quit, so dont say stupid stuff that you dont know about.
frank is/was great but definately not the best EVER.(BTW he is signed to fight Caeasr Gracie at the end of the summer if it finally does take place)
I love the UFC but to say they are tougher than Pride is just plain ignorant.
Next, Silva walks around at 215-220 then cuts down to make 205.
He did lose to belfort, but that was a LONG time ago. he is a different fighter now and will slaughter vitor, so i hope they never fight again because i like belfort too much to see him beatdown like that.
and Lidell WOULD NOT KO silva at all. i think it would be a good fight but lidell would lose by tko after alot of punishment.
Arlovski vs Fedor would be very close fight dont know who would win but might give a slight edge to fedor.
and lastly, back to the topic, the only way these guys would have a chance is if they all fought at once and were allowed to strike to the groin, eye gouge, fishhook etc. other than that it would be silva by viscious beatdown.
tyson is a victim of his own success. no one ever accomplished the things he did so early. he was a dominate force before his psychological problems turned him into the whackjob that we know today. im not saying that he didnt disappoint, but he carried the heavyweight division with excitement for 10 years. not many can say that and vitali sure as hell cant even be mentioned in the same breath as mike tyson in his prime. vitali in his prime gave us nothing.
ruiz isnt the most disappointing because he never was expected to do much. he is just the most boring heavyweight ever.
LMFAO at wlad being pedigreed for the title and the heir to lewis. yeah except the fact that he goes down more than a drunk virgin on prom night. come on man you cant be the undisputed champ if you cant take a punch. sure he has skill and ability but there is NO way that he survives all of the "lucky punches" that he will face from brewster, rahman, and toney. on of them will KTFO of Wlad aka "glass joe" kitschko
very disappointing fight. no matter how you look at it, its gonna be an early round KO by someone. i'd lean towards tyson due to speed factor.
i know they both have iron chins but there is too much devastation to take.
id rather see prime Foreman vs prime Tyson
id say roach, always calm, always giving good advice, can get you through the fight with his skill.
i dont think great fighters like rjj= great trainers. he got by on so much natural speed and athleticism that anybody who didnt have as much might not benefit from his style.
i agree. i dont think there is any way that it could have been worse for boxing and the contender.
i bet the season 2 ratings are gonna be terrible and this is the last one.
this sucks my night is ruined i should have gone and got drunk.
i say fack the latin fake and his bullsh!t decision. he can take that belt and his fackin dickface attitude to a real event that isnt in his his hometown with some b!tch judge who doesnt know sh1t and then well see what kinda of gift his lying b!tchass gets.
FACK THE LATIN FAKE!!!!!
Attention: pbds is an official nutrider of the ambiguously gay duo known as the Kiltschko brothers.
he hurt my feelings very much by giving me bad karma for making fun of his gay idols.
i dont know if ill get over this. a blue rep might help some or just make him red that may help too.
neg-rep him and fight the gay power!
after suffering the huge misfortune of seeing that picture i will now never be able to watch either one of them fight again. the pain and feelings of nausea are just too great.
they have been infected with the gay and should never fight again.
...Yeah no shit. Eveyone should have just commented on the thread being funny and all and let the bullshit die for one thread at least. Instead you got the hater assholes conitnuing their hate in this very thread. It's speaks volumes as to who is more pathetic.
