Poker, bodybuilding, golf, chess etc are not sports IMO.
A sport to me is a game/activity with rules requiring physical exertion and skill engaged in competetion. Poker does not require any physical exertion/prowess, unless you call moving the cards that. Bodybuilding doesnt either, in the actualy competetion they just pose there and it requires no skill. The training may require physical exertions but thats like calling miss universe a sport cos those women may have had to run to loose weight and look good. Golf requires skill but not any physical prowess, same as snooker. Tennis, football, boxing, wrestling etc on the other hand, it has it all. Physical prowess and skills required, you cant be a skinny lil geek who has the skill but the energy of mr.burns to win those.
All of that except for Golf my friend...IMHO. Golf is on the same league as Billiards/Pool and Bowling (as demonstration) sports.

I agree with most of that but not golf. It takes physical prowess to drive the ball 300+ yards and to hack the ball out of the long rough.

Guys, the number one sport on average that pays the most is Baseball. You have your Arods, Carlos Beltrans, and Adrian Beltre's making 150 million easy....... There is no salary cap in baseball, such that the yankees payroll is in the quarter BILLION dollar realm this year.
It's a freaking leisure activity.
some fighters consider boxing their leisure activity.
just like most people consider golf a leisure activity. does that make it not a sport? laughing at your ignorance.
my brother, through online poker alone, has accumulated $20,000
nice
the thing thats hard about online poker is that the biggest advantage an adept player has is taken away. the biggest advantage in poker is how to read someones face, actions, or etc and assume what kind of hand they have off of that reaction.
How is it?
It's about as much of a sport as jacking off. Don't let the fact that it's on ESPN make you think it's a sport.
It's a freaking leisure activity.
and i guess, according to you, when you win in poker, it's called luck?
my brother, through online poker alone, has accumulated $20,000 since school ended the first week of May. I'd say poker pays the most
but the NBA probably pays the most, seeing as first round draft picks are guaranteed $800,000 starting salary
Another way to look at it, is that in his prime Mike Tyson was making 10 mill or whatever for less than 3 minutes of work in the ring a couple times a year. I know there is training and all that, but baseball players for example put in close to 500 hours of on field playing time per years.
If you string Tysons earnings out to reflect a normal 40 hour work week the guy was making in the billions. lol

Aw shit! My cycling idol was at #9?! I never thought cycling would dish out such huge amount!
ok boys and girls let me school you on this.... pro sports do not pay as much as people would think, GOLF!!!!! i seen that a few people mentioned golf well if you did and think that your a complete moron! if you win lets say the us open you win 2.5 mill, minus taxes fees managers, caddies etc.. u get 1 cash, now where ALL pro athletes make all there money is ENDORSMENTS!!!!!! not actually playing there respected sport but from ENDORSMENTS!! so it doesnt matter which pro sport pays the most its the person playing the sport, personality, stats, charisma many things come into play in order to make a multi million dollar enforsment deal. Lebron James made around 2 mill playing for the cavs this year he got 105 millin from nike and 10 mill from sprite thats where he made his $. Now soccer on the other hand thats a per goal payment plan for instance david beckam or however you spell it makes over 25 mill a year 2 mill per goal and insentives.now the MOST paid athlete believe it or not is schumaker he races formula one cars he makes around 750 mill a year reason.... he is sponsored by ferrari and endorsed by over 50 companys thats how the race car drivers make there money with all those little stickers on there cars, so people please! remmember!!!! its not the sport that pays these athletes all this money its the major corporations that shell out millions upon millions so an all-star caliber athlete would endorse there product! thank you and i wish i taught some of you fools something! BYE!
idiot. Only thing you can school other people on is how to be a dumbass.
