When Gonzalez moves up to 108 they will start showing. With Sosa, viloria and calderon there are some great matchups. The division just needs someone like Gonzalez. Lopez got shown when he was around and Gonzalez is from the same mould.

Highlights from last night, his opponent was no mug either.
I appreciate the advice but it starts shortly and fight fans should know when one of the great young stars of the game is fighting for them to be able to see.
Movement and defense, neutralises, punch out and effectiveness. enough said
Cazarez was the best 108 pounder. Gonzales with the exception of niida as only fought cab drivers. He havent fought nobody near the caliber of Calderon or Cazares!!!!!!!!I think you make some good points Champ but Gonzales has a better guard, better footwork, throws much crisper punches than cazares.
He is a legitimate 108 and took out Varela in one round in only his 14th fight at that weight.
I know he has yet to beat one of 108 champions but Solis couldnt put away Gonzalez team mate Espinosa and if you had ever seen what Gonzalez does to him in the gym, you wouldnt talk like that.
Calderon is a great champion but they should fight and hopefully by the end of the year.
First Comparing Gonzales-Calderon situattion to Hatton-Pacquaio is a travesty!!!!!! Pacquaio is the ·number 1 P4P fighter who happends to beat a guy at 147.And Gonzales as of now is just a pretender trying to become champ!!!!!!!! God!!!!!!!
Second Gonzales had done jack shit to deserve a fight with the lineal champ. he needs to beat a coup'le of big names first. Viloria should be a good start and then beat one of the other champs. He brings nothing for Calderon not even money!!!!!!!
Champ, he beat a 7 yr world champion , thats hardly nothing. And retired him too at 28.
That Koki video got me hyped up, and Donaire is pretty famous too, both would make huge money. Much better than this guy who I found out about two days ago
Therin lies the problem I suppose, boxing writers rave about Gonzalez but because he fights in japan for teiken, the western world knows little of him.
But if they put it on in Japan there would be a big purse for Calderon because Gonzalez is adored there even though he destroyed their best champion.
There is a lot of money in Japan for the little guys.
That was at 105. Im not saying he doesnt have talent or anything. But he havent done anything compare to Calderon, Cazarez,Sosa or Solis. Im mean Calderon is arguably the best 108 pounder of All Time!!!!!!!
I couldnt agree with you more apart from Ricardo Lopez of course. But he had a shorter career at light fly.
calderon has no chin at 108, whats the point going up.
Im just worried he will get beat at 108 before Gonzalez gets his hands on him.
It took calderon untill he was 33 to make the top 10 p for p Gonzalez is already at 36 and calderon would put him top 10 at the ripe old age of 22.
u are right...
ironboy doesnt need kos
he just

ooooooooooooooleeeeeeeee!!! them
lmao @ your sorry Asss loooking for peanuts from the spic! :lol1:
Dosen't need, can't have you surely mean.
Deep down inside, you know you don't want this fight. The Solis and Sosa's bring nothing new to the table, old dogs can't learn new tricks.
Perhaps you should find another Puerto Rican horse to ride.
Im not say that they shouldnt fight, ofcourse they should fight. But saying like the other poster sai, that he will beat everybody at 108 an that he will beat Calderon easy is absurd. Plus the fact that the are like 5 or 6 guys ahead of him that Calderon should fight
But isnt there 5 or 6 guys that should get a shot at Hattons title, Pacquiao is unproven at 140 and dont tell me the Oscar debacle proved anything.
Money wise I understand but you cant blame Gonzalez for calling him out, he has done everything asked and is starving to make 105.
Calderon is going to get beat soon because of his age and would be foolish to go up as cazares proved his chin cant take it.
Gonzalez wants to be the one to dethrone him.
I dont think he wants the fight right now, I think he is just setting it up, all great matchups have to build a momentum and gonzalez has got the ball rolling. perhaps the fight after next could be on US tv, that would help a lot.
Two more fights each and then the big one in the fall.
Calderon deserves the payday to take on a dangerous guy like Gonzalez.
Gonzalez will have his paydays after when he dethrones him.
looks like all the Puerto ricans have had enough
why i shouldnt want this fight??
im not a cheerleader like you kid.... i already told you.. if gonzalez gets a belt @ 108 calderon will gladly fight him why??? cos that would do something for his legacy....
not going back and get the 105 belt... and then again... see how no ones wants to unify with him...
get a belt @ 108. then we talk.
this is boxing 101 boy. dont come here with your shitty insults.. and expect not to get :owned:.
so if you cant get a fight against the best, in your mind, why not take the next best option at 108? Gonzalez has stated he is ready to jump up.
Feb 21, Calderon will fight a bum I expect.
What your really trying to say, is, its too much risk for not enough money, although you dont respect Gonzalez, which is somewhat contradictory.
Gonzalez has looked like a young master cutting off the ring, but against who? Get my point? Landing those nasty upper cuts is great if the guy stands in front of you against someone who's not there makes you look foolish, pretty much what happens to every Calderon opponent, I've seen Gonzalez, wonder what fight of his against a great boxer/counter puncher you've seen?
You make a valid point but what you don't seem to see is the way Calderon can no longer run for 12 and Cazares hit him with two uppercuts which put him down, even though the referee didnt seem to agree. He ducks into an uppercut, it's his way to be elusive, Gonzalez takes that option away. But for clash of heads I think there would be a defeat on his record already.
No one is invincible for ever and should Calderon take the fight, it will be over by 6.
All I keep hearing on this thread is styles make fights but for the wrong reason , it his calderon that is tailor made for Gonzalez.
Check this out and see how vulnerable he is to the odd uppercut let alone 30 a round.

Ricky Hatton is greedy. The Brits can claim that it is a "privilege" to fight Ricky Hatton for 50-50 because he brings in the most money. It is just another example of the rich exploiting foreign labor and the poor.
The Brits think that Pacquiao is another poor soul that they can tempt with a low offer. If Pacquiao was British, he would have gotten 60-40 easily. But he is not which goes to show the inequality in the world.
If Paq was British of course he would get more money because he brings the crowd and he is the P for P champ.
Silly statement
eh not bad
he's a beast and he just offered it to calderon in an interview on Fightnews.
Quote
When asked about the prospect of fighting the great Ivan Calderón, the humbleness disappears out the window as the alter ego of Gonzalez oozes with anticipation. “I don’t have a great deal of experience against lefties, but if Calderon wants to fight, I will gladly jump up a weight class and accommodate him, and I guarantee, I will be ready to give him a real beating.”
Gonzalez, although having the utmost respect for Calderón’s achievements, seems to have little fear of the pound-for-pound star. “I will fight him anywhere: in the backyard of my house or his,” he jokes.
