Ivan Calderon IS the #1 P4P fighter in the world.
14 title defenses at minimum weight, 3 defenses at light flyweight. The slickest southpaw since Pernell Whitaker. Magnificent timing, fantastic footwork, incredibly accurate punching.
Nobody comes close to being able to do in the ring what Ivan Calderon can do.
that makes your opinion worthless doesn't it?
My opinion is just my opinion, if you wanna think of it as worthless then i dont give a **** think whatever you want just dont be gettin all pissed of that i dont think calderon is the best fighter ever. people look way to far into everything.
But im gonna stick with what i said which is if calderon cant physically beat his opponent and only win by points then he shouldnt be considered #1 p4p
so??????????
You said he wasn't rated higher by The Ring. He meant pound for pound, hence why I explained it.
I'm not in a rush to see Gonzalez-Calderon right now. I mean granted, yeah I'd love to see it, but I want Calderon to actually unify and face the top contenders. He hasn't faced the top 3 or 4 people in his comp ever except when actually facing the titlist. Juan Esquar and Nelson Dieppa weren't ranked top 5 I know that. I think they were a bit lower. Dieppa was ranked 2 before. Hence why Cazares vs Dippea was for the vacant belt.
Wrong.
You get call by a guy who fights in a lower weight class than you and he is virtually unknown, plus he is just a prospect. And you expect to get a fight!!!
The next guy by the ring???????
The next guy by the ring? The next guy by the ring is Solis and then Sosa!!!!!!!!
Gonzalez is rated higher in RING than solis or sosa, he is 36 and calderon can make 105 easy
And who Calderon is ducking? You are a delusional fanboy!!!!!!!!
Your the one that keeps spouting P 4 P, you cant have it all ways, if belts dont matter and its all about RING , then lets fight.
And who Calderon is ducking? You are a delusional fanboy!!!!!!!!
You get called out by the next best RING rated fighter, whenever , wherever at whatever weight, what else do you wanna call it.
He fought Varela after Calderon and Tellez too. In fact calderon KOd tellez first
Keep making shit up!!!!!!!
Sorry 8 months apart and Gonzalez was in his 14th fight and it took one round. You really didnt do your argument any favors bringing that up.
Gonzalez was so bored fighting tellez, it was funny and he still mopped him up twice very quickly.
They are two fighters going in different directions. Boxing fans deserve to see it. great champions never duck.
keep dreaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too bad that this fight wont happend. So we can end this bS!!!!!
It will happen late this year, after Calderon, Solis. Gonzalez people will make it happen. he will put himself in position to fight the winner. he wants solis just as bad too so it all fits perfect.
Calderon wont have to worry about paying all the sanctioning bodies, because he wont be leaving with any of the belts.
According to idiots here. If you are not a KO artist then, you are not worth of being elite or for that Matter ATG
What we are saying is, no matter whether he runs or not Gonzalez will catch him, and those uppercuts will slow him down, if they don't knock him clean out.
The rest will just be a mop up job until he gets saved by the ref or the corner.
I was only aware of one world class contender or champ that Gonzales had fought, Niida. Very good win. Was it a fluke? We don't know yet. Does it mean that he'll KTFO of Calderon? Absolutely not.
I take it you have seen the fight with Niida otherwise you really shouldnt be having a conversation about someone you havent seen. If you have then you will realize that it was no fluke. RING magazine called it a " bludgeoning".
He also took out Varela that went 12 for the title with calderon in one and that was before calderon fought him. he beat gejon who fought for the title twice in one.
Calderon has done everything asked but he has been run very close by Barrera and cazares, neither of which Gonzalez would be a dog against.

Well there won't be no rematch for sure. Niida retired because of him. Kind of wish Eagle Kyowa didn't retire also. He would have been a nice other test for him.
Also Gonzalez has also fought a top contender in Jose Luis Varela (who was shutout by Calderon) and top 15 contender, but not top ten Eriberto Gejon (also shut out by Calderon. They were both destroyed in a round...
if he stands like that in front of Gonzalez, he will get his clock cleaned. He hates uppercuts and that's gonzalez's bread and butter.
The scary thing about Gonzalez is , his performance goes up 100% the better the opposition. His three fights against world class contenders and champions have lasted 5 rounds total. One of the two guys who went the distance with him hit the canvas 7 times.

Did Oscar beat anybody before he won the title, did maywether, did hatton?
No there title win was a defining moment and so was gonzalez against Niida.
he retired a respected champion in spectacular fashion and he will do the same to calderon because it's his time.
Says the guy who nuthuggs a guy with one decent win. Comparing Calderon to Niida dumb again!!!!!!
Does this looks like running?????
Gonzales wont touch Ivan!!!!!!!!! Keep dreaming !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Running scared from a man your own size is a bitch move, dancing because your giving in, 6in in height 5 in reach and 17 pounds is call having P4P skills, Moron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
He runs every fight, if he had to trade, he get the shit beaten out of him.
The ring won't be big enough for him when Gonzalez gets in there and that uppercut will tear him to bits.
If he makes it through six I'll be amazed. Niida looked like he'd been it by a truck after 3.
When was the last time you saw a great champion of 6 years retired after 3 rounds.
Your kidding yourself if you think Calderon can hold this kid off.
