When is the last time Chris John actually defended his belt against anybody worth a damn? Did they force him to fight Celestino Caballero? Or Barros? Or Gamboa? And he has had that belt for God knows how long. You can say what you want about the other sanctioning bodies, but the WBA is the absolute worst of them all. They not only have a Super Champion and a "regular" champion, but sometimes they have 2 Super Champions at the same time.
Let me see if I understand this correctly? The WBA has a super champion a regular champion and a interim champion and possibly even a champion in recess? So if they had three champions in recess at the same time in the same weight division, is it possible that just about all the fighters ranked in their top ten could be a champion of some sort? And I guess this doesn't even include what ever regional belts the WBA may have? And if one fighter unified all the WBA belts would he then be the unified WBA champion? How the hell can anyone keep track of this crap without going crazy?
I have said it before and i will say it again. The WBA is the worst of them all.
The WBA is on a mandatory rampage. If only they did this for ALL of their beltholders ALL of the time.............
But they dont. They pick and choose and that is why it is horse sh**
the fight wont be at 140 so why even discuss it. it would be for manny's ww title. so stop with that nonsense please.
of course manny is smaller than sergio, as is floyd. the size disparity is what makes the fight for either with sergio closer and more competitive.
you asked who should manny fight next and I answered, i didn't just bring floyd up out of nowhere. I don't know who he is fighting next but it seems that decision will be made after the cotto/trout and manny/jmm fights, unless of course the Canelo fight is already signed and thats why Canelo isn't fighting until May.
just because we don't know doesn't mean manny and his team don't.
if manny were to fight rios after jmm that would be 4 straight versus smaller guys moving up to ww. is that acceptable for a ww champion?
What WW Title?
U can defend him all u like but FM Jr. is wastin his prime. hes takin so much time off that it's like MJ comin' out of retirement. Im not referrin' 2 it in the sense that the expectations people had of him were hopes that he 'still had IT'. Im talkin bout the 'past his prime' Roy Jones Jr. style where here it is, we have a great boxer fightin' nobodys winnin lame matches on mixed decisions n no one really cares!
He keeps this up, after his first loss, it's gon be a reality!
Never known a boxing champ 2 achieve so much more rep and status the longer he stayed away from the sport!
All that big talk and status is easy 2 maintain when u ain't in the ring. He's so untouchable he ain't fightin'!:boxing::boxing:
How is he fighting nobodies when him and Pac are fighting the same damn fighters?, and 3/5 times Floyd fought them first?
And weren't Mayweather's last 2 fights 8 months apart?
so GGG wants to fight a junior middleweight or a guy who was just knocked out by Grady Brewer??!! Whats the motivation for a middlweight to have a goal to become a MIDDLEWEIGHT contender if he gets passed over for a junior middleweight?
A: It was 4 fights ago that he lost to Brewer
B: He didnt get stretched he blew his load and got gassed out
C: Who gives a sh*t that he lost? People lose, move on, and fight for/ win titles.
D: This isnt Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao or even Sergio Martinez we are talking about here. its Gennady Golovkin. a guy most people havent heard of anyway. He is building his name, and Guerrero is just as good a name as any after Geale, Chavez, Martinez, and Quillen are unavailable.
Having said that though, why arent they revisiting the Pirog fight?
Ward is very much in the driver's seat right now. And even though his resume is impressive and he appears to be the heir apperant to the P4P throne, his unwillingness to fight outside of America in the Super Six and only agreeing to fight Dawson if the light heavy champ drained himself and agreed to fight in Ward's backyard just doesn't smell right to me.
Gtfoh. Fighters come to America to make it big. Not the other way around. What does he have to prove by going over to Denmark to fight? People act like he has been winning razor thin decisions in Oakland (and Atlantic City) where there is all this controversy around his victories. Last time i checked he blew all these guys out the water. It's crazy! He sells out the Oakland Arena and now people want him to fight somewhere else, but in the Andre Berto thread people are calling Berto a dud because he cant sell out in his home state. Jesus Christ! I didn't hear Ward say a damn thing about refusing to fight outside of Oakland. He just has a good management team and fights in the same country where the premium networks who air his fight are based out of... Guess what folks? HBO and Showtime are American TV networks. 99% of the fights that are seen on these networks are fought in America.
And are we talking about the SAME Chad Dawson who called out Ward after looking like sh*t against BHop? I mean, the man just said after the fight on national TV he was willing to come down and take Ward's belts. I dont really care what was said at the negotiating table, Dawson made it CLEAR he was willing to come down, and was classy enough in defeat not to use weight as an excuse, because even if it WAS the reason he lost, he made the mistake of saying he was more than willing to go down to 168, and talked sh*t about how it wouldnt affect him in the build up. So guess what? He took his L like a man. Wish Kessler could do the same thing.
The same Kessler who had eye issues and didnt finish the damn tournament! If you wanted to fight Ward so bad you shouldve finished the super six you flake.

But he doesn't question Margarito vs Pacquiao for a vacant 154 lb belt.
All in all this is a smart voluntary defense choice for Froch. Someone game, who doesnt have a horrible record, and can be knocked out. Wise move to not jeopardize the Bute rematch.
Haye fought Mormeck (then unified champ), Fragomeni (undefeated), Enzo (WBO champ), Barrett (needed a solid win), Valuev (Champ), Ruiz (mandatory), Audley (OK that was crap) and Chisora who gave Vitali a pretty darn hard fight. You cannot excuse Klitskho's opponents. They are almost all crap and they have never delivered a good fight.
Shots out to your train of thought, to an extent i agree that their opponents have left much to be desired, but.....
Exactly who are they supposed to fight? For the last few years, all the other big name heavyweights have been saying is "I'll be ready for a Klitscho next year. I just need a couple more fights.. etc etc"
Have they been ducking? Other than James Toney ofcourse. I bet the list of fighters that have been ducking the Klitscho bros the last 2 years is hell of a lot longer than the list of fighters that the brothers are "ducking"
And wait a damn minute... didnt Wladamir FIGHT Haye? I mean, you are defending a guy who begged for a fight and got shutout, but you are trashing the same guy that shut him out? How does this work?
Im so tired of hearing about how Haye is the only fighter who can give one of the brothers trouble when he already f***ing fought one and took a big sh** in the ring. And this is coming from a black man from America who has probably only watched 4 Klitscho fights in his life including Wlad vs Haye.
that's if your a cherry picker like Floyd, that only fights two times a year, great's fight 4 to 5 times, and don't pick and choose like crap stain Floyd. Floyd likes to have the anvatage over his oppents, like coming into fights over the weight limit, and not wanting to get weighed the day of the fight like in the Marquez fight.:bryce:
You do realize Pacquiao made DLH come down to 147, and fought both Cotto and Margarito at a catchweight right? You do realize that the reason he didnt fight Cotto this past weekend is because he wanted him to come down from 154 to 147, right? I mean, doesnt that sound like Pac likes to fight with the advantage over his opponents?
Anyway, Floyd would have beat Pac. This loss that Pacquiao just suffered really does not prove that, it is the FIRST 3 fights that do. He was never able to decisively win against a shorter armed, smaller, less powerful, and less defensively responsible counter puncher than Mayweather in THREE fights, eventhough he scored 4 knockdowns in those first 3 fights. THAT is what proves that he would lose to Floyd.
Last night? He got caught with a punch that he didnt see coming, and THAT can happen to anyone.
People, seriously, GGG is not a star. alll this talk of him not having anything to gain by fighting these guys is silly. austin trout has a bigger name right now. These fights are perfect for GGG to take st this point in his hbo career. And I dont think that any of the non champion fighters are afraid to fight him because they have nothing to lose in defeat anyway. Maybe a martinez who has a name, an andre ward or julio chavez who has names and position would have reason to duck him, but not guys like guerrero and rosado.
Yeah, just like Martinez ducked Pirog? Pirog faded away into oblivion just as quick as he took the MW scene by storm. I'll say the same thing about this fight as I did that one........make it happen so my boy can put an end to all this 3G is God talk.
I thought Molina just said he would step up to the plate and fight him? Why isn't he being considered?
Hopefully they realize Molina's style is sh*t and they dont waste any time. now you can talk about how he was robbed vs Kirkland, Lara, and anyone else, but his fights are ugly boring grab fests.
Dumb move by Pavlik if this is true. He should go after Arthur Abraham... that's a winnable fight for the WBO title, then if he still want's to fight Ward he could negotiate more money for a unification fight. Ward end's his career either way though, he should just try to get a Chavez jr. fight.
Couldnt agree more man. Abraham was a fight that people wanted at 160 and never happened. Since then both Abraham and Pavlik have gone through some really rough patches and have seemed to rebuild themselves. This is the perfect fight for both parties somewhere in Germany. I mean, Pavlik has to assume that his chances of decisioning Abraham in Germany, and beating Andre Ward in any type of fashion here in the USA are pretty much neck and neck, right?
Getting robbed?? Did he knock PAC down like 7 times or something?? Dominated PAC for all 12rds?? Dude played it safe and fought a close fight. Ain't no robbery, u wanna get ur hand raise at the end u better come out and make a statement. Tired of hearing all these excuses about him being robbed.
I wonder if people feel the same way about Pac v Bradley? Robbery is a robbery, no matter if there were knockdowns or not. Ask Richard Abril or Erislandy Lara
How? How does K9 repeatedly get passes on fighting top level opposition in a premier weight class?
No disrespect to Ishe, who is gatekeeper level at best, but this is simply pathetic to see Ishe in the ring with K9 as opposed to Andrade, Kirkland, Molina, Lara, Martirosyan, or any other champ at 154.
Hell, Ishe isn't even ranked by the IBF and the aforementioned are all at least in the top 10, according to the IBF.
Bundrage just fought his mandatory in Spinks, so now he gets a voluntary defense. The new #1 contender passed on the fight to go up and fight GGG.
As for the fighters you mentioned, Andrade has made no attempts to fight anyone with a pulse, Kirkland isnt fighting anyone, although if he made a push for K9 that would be a smart move, and Lara and Martarosyan both seem to be saving their virginity for Canelo. Molina is probably deserving of the fight, but Jesus i hate seeing him box. Just so boring and ugly.
I dont know why with so many belts available in a given weight class, fighters seem to focus on just one. Good for Ishe Smith that instead of focusing on the "money" fight at 154, he decided to get off his ass and try to realistically win a title.
Who the f*** has the WBO belt? youd think one of these promoters would get a purse bid and bring the guy over here to the US to lose it.
