GGG wins and there is a lot of chance with a bang of a knockout! The hype of GGG is getting me, I have to admit :). But in my opinion the hype has some truth...
I have seen a few good ones: Khan, Berto, Ortiz, Kirkland...
All boxers who haven't reached what was projected.
Mine personally (based of a documentary on him) is Dmitriy
Salita, thought he was promising, but that KO against Khan
obliterated my expectations...

Nice video man! This got me hyped up for this one. I really can't tell who will win, because they both have such different styles, strengths and weaknesses.
Obviously Chavez is much bigger, stronger and from what I've seen in his last bouts, he has a tremendous chin and some serious body punching. His weaknesses are imo his speed and experience. Yes, he can punch with great power, but he has to connect and that is not easy with a boxer as fast and slick as Martinez.
Martinez in contrast has great speed, technique (his angles and footwork), slickness and overall a better physique. Most importantly, Martinez has much more experience on the highest level (although it looks pale in comparison with that of his (higher) peers in the pound for pound list) and that can become a significant factor in the later rounds. His power doesn't compare to that of Chavez and the question is if he's able to hold off Chavez the whole 12 rounds, because Chavez improved his ability to cut of the ring and as result to do his magic, meaning breaking people down with his ferocious body punches (which I love btw).
Overall, a great matchup and let the best win!
still picking Martinez right now
but closer fight night gets, leaning more toward Chavez
just don't see why Martinez is expected to outright destroy him
he's a better fighter, but Chavez isn't a a pushover
he's just too big for Martinez to walk through him
even a decision win, which is the pick, should be a competitive one
This matchup somehow reminds me of Cotto-Pacquaio. Everybody was saying Cotto is the bigger man and Manny will have a hard time holding him off. In retrospective, Cotto did just that in the first rounds, but Manny adjusted and got a convincing TKO. Same will happen in this bout, Chavez will establish himself in the earlier rounds, but Martinez will adjust (he is a smart and slick fighter) and will be very fast to avoid the sweeping punches of Chavez (Yes, he swings wide). Martinez will win I think, but still in a very competitive fight.
I'm really pumped up for this one, don't know why, but these two will perform on a high level I think with lots of intensity and that is what we (the boxing fans) want to see. To be honest, first I was more inclined to liking Martinez, but Chavez Jr. really has stepped up his level in his last bouts and he has a likeable style imo (his body punching!), so let the games begin.
Indeed his body punching!
P4P Dinero de Vaca is one of the best Body Punchers of all time, and He's the best body puncher without a doubt right now in Professional Boxing.

The persistent body punching is something you don't see that often in boxing anymore, while it can be very efficient. If you think of Barrera, Chavez Sr., Duran, they were magnificent body punchers with a very good uppercut, something Chavez Jr. also exhibits time to time. A thing that 'concerns' me a bit for Martinez is the weight of Chavez, who has much power and will be heavier on fight night. This can be a dangerous combination. What i really wanted to say, is that I like the good use of body punching and imo it can be a very effective way of making it a lot easier for a fighter to win a bout and it is a spectacular way of boxing imo :boxing: . Ooooh, I'm gonna enjoy this one!

Similar to the way somebody tried to poison everybody against Pac. Its not fair to taint a fighters victory or career. Innocent until proven guilty!
I second that!
What a great fight btw.
I thought Bradley was far more interesting than Pacquaio and skipped therefore the whole part about the bible stuff. You noticed how he keeps repeating that the bible is the manual of life? Just like he was brainwashed or something.
The excuses he made for the Marquez fight were kinda pathetic, because what he really was saying that he lost the fight. Is is as simple as that. The whole excuse about underestimating him was lame. You had fought him already 2 times and it really wasn't a walk in the park :smashfrea.
All together I liked the episode, thanks to Bradley who really seems a genuine friendly person, something we don't always see in the boxing world.
I always get pumped up by HBO's 24/7 or HBO's legendary nights, these just wanna make me start boxing. I wish you good luck with convincing your friends!
Martinez will win this one, no doubt in my mind. Few days ago I said it would be 50/50, but after seeing some footage from Chavez Jr, I'm not convinced anymore that he is a threat for Martinez.
Martinez is one or two classes higher than him, he has much more speed and his volume punching can tire fighters down, especially a bigger fighter who has often problems making weight. Once the first rounds are over and Martinez wears Chavez down, he will do some hurting with his precision punching and even thought he hasn't got the power of Chavez, he can hurt you big time (last 4 fights a stoppage).
It will be a very entertaining and interesting fight, really looking forward to this one!
I do agree with you that Marquez maybe had to take more chances this fight, but it is not that Manny was like dominating him in the last 2 rounds, let alone in the previous rounds.
That reaction of Manny after the bell was in my opinion him admitting defeat. When the final bell rings in such an important fight for both fighters, you're not gonna think about pleasing the fans or your own opinion about your perfomance, but about if you won the fight or not and letting your emotions go after 12 rounds of boxing. Even Roach wasn't sure and telling Manny to go for the KO. You really think he would say this with Pacman winning the fight and the knowledge of Marquez' superior counter-punching ability and therefore risking to lose the fight. No man, he just thought they were losing the fight. All of this is off course my opnion and it was without any doubt a close fight, but in my book with Marquez winning the fight.
I just heard it, this is just terrible news. Damn those bikes!!! Hope he can recover and a mircacle takes place so he can do again what he does best. Get well P-Will!
From what I've seen from him, I must admit he looks very good. Great positioning, balance, power, all derving from his great footwork. Is he perfect? No, but who is (maybe Floyd, he could have been nearly perfect, if he wasn't such a chickenboy with no offensive plan). A lot of people are criticizing his defense and foremost his head movement, but like as been said in this post, he doesn't need that for now, because he's a pressure fighter and nobody could hurt him in the past, so he just walked the punches off. His defense has to be good, because how do you have 350 amateur fights without ever been knocked down?
I must admit, he hasn't had a big test in his career, but they are building him up and I think in two-three years he will be a big star.
Shane needs to stfu. After I saw his 'fight' with Pacquaio, he clearly is in there for the money and to make sure he doesn't get hurt. Maybe the most frustrating fight I ever saw with the constant hugging. It was like watching a children's program instead of a professional fight. Canelo hopefully retires this old man who once was a great fighter.
I'm rooting for Salita on this one without any doubt.
I saw his documentary and really loved his spirit.
I'm not saying he'll win this bout, but he has my support.
:notworthy
I'm not the one who regularly comments on judges decisions, but I also saw this one in favor of Marquez. Manny was not himself, he was offbeat during the whole fight and Marquez was just counter punching the whole time and executing his gameplan.
I don't think Nacho Beristain, a HOF trainer would tell Marquez that he was winning in such an important fight, without being absolutely sure. Roach on the other hand was telling Pacman to go for the knockout. At the end of the fight, we saw Marquez raising his hands and Pacquiao holding his head down. If anyone knows who won the fight, it is the fighters themselves and Manny didn't look all that confident.
All things together, Marquez was clearly robbed and politics are still playing a major role in pro boxing in my humble opinion.
lol people are so used to watching Pac dominate when he wins any type of close fights its called a robbery? lol. Its ok JMM chose not to take the belt away the final 2 rounds. If you wanna beat the champ you got to step it up and take it in those final 2 and not coast thinking your winning. Dumbest move he could have made was listening to his trainer tell you your winning in a very very close fight.. And it means nothing when Pac has that disappointed reaction right after the final bell. He has that reaction because he didn't like his performance against a guy who will not throw anything unless you throw. He felt he didn't give the fans a Crowd pleasing fight which disappoints him, not because he lost like some of the simple minded guys here think.
Close fight and the right guy won that fight. Wayyyy too many close rounds and the rounds that were close Pac landed more, but some were still given to JMM. I had Pac winning cause the final 2 rounds. These championshiip rounds in this fight meant a lot. Pac wanted it, you don't win a fight by just backing up the entire time and not wanting to take the belt from the champion unless you are 100% certain you are up by 5 rounds or so. Then if you still lose after that, then you can call it a robbery. This fight was in no way in hell a robbery. Its one of those 50/50 fights that can go either way.....
Hopefully this performance will give Floyd the courage to fight Pac now and get off this PED BS. Cause Pac is a super small dude and nothing in this fight shows me hes on PED whatsover. Grow a pair Floyd and fight him now while your both still in somewhat decent form.

Two or three years is way too far. He needs to show what he has in 2013 against the top guys. I think GGG would already be a star if the other guys would be willing to fight him. Geale/Quillin/Chavez/Pirog should be on his radar.
I get what you are saying, but what I meant is that in 2-3 years he will be a star and making BIG fights for a lot of money. Really rooting for him!
