Reigning WBC Middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is currently in Las Vegas, NV training and starting the final phase of preperation for his big fight with Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez on September 15th at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Chavez Jr made a surprise appearance on BoxingScene’s official radio show The Boxing Lab to talk about his upcoming fight and how he’s feeling only 2 weeks away from the biggest moment of his career.

“We’ve done a great preparation. Everything is going perfect. I’m very happy. It’s a great emotion. It’s a moment I’ve been waiting for, for a very long time and I’m anxious for the fight to get here” said Chavez.

The build up to this fight has been intense as both combatants have done their heavy share of trash talking and it continued on HBO’s Face Off. The bad blood between both fighters is evident which is why when it was reported that Martinez had to cancel his scheduled media workout on Tuesday due to threats and vandalism to his car, many immediately began to wonder who was responsible.

Chavez was asked if he had heard about the incident and what his thoughts were about people assuming he may have had something to do with.

“Yes, I heard about it. Maybe he has personal problems or problems with somebody. I don’t know what happened. Maybe he got into a dispute with someone. For my part and people in boxing, I don’t think had anything to do with it. I think he has personal problems or simply it’s a made up excuse to cancel the open workout,” Chavez would tell The Boxing Lab.

That incident is the furthest thing right now from Chavez’s mind. His focus is on getting in the ring September 15th and coming out victorious.

“I’m going to win. September 15th I will win. I’m going to shut Martinez’s mouth up. I will demonstrate to him who is the real champion."
