He's a good prospect, but what that clip shows is that Williams is not that big of a puncher, which is not a good sign for a guy with an open D who's fighting at an artificially low weight, because he's probably going to grow into a middle.
Let's see how he does against a serious puncher at 147/154, because even little Sharmba was able to get in on him and land some nice clean shots. He definitely will be fun to watch, either way. I like his punch output and loose D, he'll be in some exciting fights coming up.
lol, yes thats floyd MO, get the most money out of it... like he did with zab, fighting him after he lost to baldy or fighting mitchell after he gets KTFO by zoo... by waiting, how much more than $8 mil can a fight with margo make? not much more...
He's making less than the guaranteed $8 mil, but he may make more than that depending on how well the PPV does. Goosen kept dancing around the issue and would never say that he guaranteed Floyd $8 M. As Arum said, sooner or later the contract has to be filed with the commission and then we'll know exactly what he signed for. But remember, Arum's offer as he stated it guaranteed Floyd $8M with an upside as well, and no strings attached.
Floyd took less to fight Baldomir, but hey, that's not a big deal. It's where he goes from THERE which will be the issue, because Arum is still going to be all over him for a Margarito fight after Nov. And I'm guessing that's still going to be the biggest offer to Floyd, and that he's still going to have no interest in it.
LOL, what you just said that you place the belts higher than performance. Baldo beat Zab. Floyd beat Gatti and Zab. Baldo is going to lose to Baldy.
You're praising Baldo to criticize Judah. It's so obvious.
Someone apparently does not understand boxing and how championship lineages work.
The reason for any confusion is because Mayweather went ahead with the Judah fight instead of fighting Baldomir. Baldomir chose Gatti because it meant more $$. Notice a common theme with any and all fighters that Floyd proposes a fight with? "They priced themselves out." Yeah, I'm suuuure they did. What you meant to say was that they didn't sign for peanuts.
Baldomir is the champ at 147, period. If Gatti beats him, then he will be the champ. Floyd fought the LOSER and Gatti fought the WINNER. Wow, that's a tough concept, eh? ;)
Never rule out Glen Johnson. Adamek is very tough, though. Should be a good fight. I think Adamek may stop him late, corner or ref stoppage from accumulated punches.
You must feel like shit for BS'ing yourself. Byrd a heavyweight threat? Nope. He has been inactive and he can't hurt Wlad nor get a decision in Germany. Get real.
That's what Wlad fans do... make the opponents seem like Ali. Byrd would get TKO'd by Brewster the guy Wlad should be fighting.
You've already said you think Byrd will beat Wlad, but that he'll lose only if he gets robbed on the cards.
So if Wlad "upsets" Byrd and there is no controversial decision, then that should impress you, right? Anytime you think a fighter will lose and he wins, then you should be impressed, I think.
There is no way this fight will not be exciting. Byrd cannot stand on the outside and win, so he's got to actually be the agressor, which will lead to an interesting fight, I think. Wlad doesn't like being pressured, and Byrd knows that's his only chance. Pure Boxer vs Boxer-Puncher. It'll certainly be more exciting than that embarassment of a joke of a fight called "Rahman-Toney."
So Flyy, would you mind listing off your top 10 HW's? Should be interesting...
Why does he need to destroy Gatti AGAIN to be the man? That's the question.
First of all, don't count your chickens before they hatch. Baldomir just beat Judah- he can certainly beat Gatti. This will probably be a war, and eventually the wars have to catch up with Gatti. We are going to see him get old instantly in the ring, and it could be against Baldomir. I'm actually amazed it hasn't happened yet.
But the real reason for the confusion was Floyd fighting Judah instead of Baldomir. That was Floyd's choice. If he wants the real championship then he'll have to fight the winner of Gatti-Baldomir. THAT is why you don't make big showcase fights with losers if what you are going for is championships. Nobody to blame by Floyd.
No, that's not in dispute. Brian "Biased" Kenny equates belts and best fighter. That's not the case. With an idiot like Kenny, Floyd would need to beat Gatti again for him to call Floyd the best.
Ring Magazine usually doesn't play that childish game. Having the belt doesn't always mean you're the best.
You're confusing "belts" with "linear championships." They are vastly different.
The lineage doesn't change because a champion lost to some guy a year or so before. If Gatti wins, he is the linear champion, and that is that. What you're proposing is pretty funny...if a fighter wins a championship and he's already lost to you, then that championship immediately becomes yours??? LOL Stop being silly, please.
