One fighter I don't really want to wait to see is Marquez if he ever fights someone like Salido again. It was very boring (even though it wasn't really Marquez's fault, Salido was just too scared to do anything offensive for fear of getting countered)
Come on suckas I want some jibba jabba on the subject
Even if they aren't official, the Ring Magazine is not affected by the bias and they do know what they are talking about.
Plus their belt is the only one seen in the Rocky movies.
I thought that it is good to have a tribute thread for Chris Byrd (and not have this thread started by CITA ;)
I have really enjoyed Chris's boxing skills and determination. I will be eagerly waiting for Vitali-Chris rematch.
It will be a great fight.
A good thought; I only expected tribute threads created for Byrd to be made by no other han CITA. A surprise if anyone else made any
The same people that are saying Gatti is gonna kill Leija are probably the same people that thought Bojado would beat Leija.I'd never count the old warrior Leija out.Theres so many ways Leija can beat Gatti:
1)Outland and outwork him over 12rds.Ward proved that you can wear Gatti down with bodyshot and Leija has the experience and ring smarts to do that.
2)Gatti breaks his hand on Leija's head and Leija wins it by TKO.
I'd go with the latter. But look at Gatti's bodyshot that took out Dorin. You can say the same for Gatti as well. Give me a link to see the fight and I'll be happy
Jose, I wouldn't really say Margarito was exposed by Santos, since junior middle and welterweight are two very different divisions.
Margarito should just stay at 147.
(1) Ronald "Winky" Wright
(2) "El 7 Mares" Antonio Margarito
(3) "Tuaman" David Tua (ok, maybe not that underappreciated)
(4) Jose Luis Castillo
And to round out the top five of underappreciated fighters,
(5) Montell Griffin (because he was recently robbed by Hoye)
And I will defend that statement that he was robbed by Hoye
I'll second that, that was the worst ive ever seen!!
The ref was warning Reid for punching Ottke!! Maybe someone should tell Sven that boxing is a contact sport!!
Thanks for the support on this topic.
Someone should tell the the referee that boxing is a contact sport. I hope he doesn't officiate anytime soon.
Hilarious. Sturm should retire. Plain and simple. He lost to natural welterweight De La Hoya, who got knocked out by Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins would kill the German.
Yes I made the bet and had Hopkins winning, but this site changed and all the cash in the same direction as Sturm and de la Hoya (opposite of "up")
You heard it here
I've only seen a couple Sturm fights, but from what i've seen of him I guess I am one of the few who thinks he is more of a prospect than Jermain Taylor. I think Sturm would give Hopkins a very good fight and I would give Sturm a chance of winning that one.
It's still his fault that he lost his title to Oscar de la Hoya. He'll have to work his way back up to get another title bout.
I can't tell from the article if Murad is telling it as it is or if he's full of it. Only way is to wait and see what happens.
For a guy whose wife has a top position in the IBF, you would think he would have no problem locking up big prizefights for his stars.
I hope Pacquiao fights Marquez or someone of the same caliber very soon. Even though Pac-Man might be taking Fahsan 3K-Battery lightly, the Thai boxer himself has not fought upper-tier opposition himself, and his sparring partner was KO'ed by Pacquiao in the first round not too long ago. They say both have improved tremendously since then, but I'm not so sure from the latest footage (and their latest opposition).
Guess you'll have to find out in December.
#1-Manny Pacquiao
#2-Juan Manuel Marquez
#3-Marco Antonio Barrera
#4-In Jin Chi
#5-Scott Harrison

#33-Rocky Juarez
#34-Zahir Raheem
Here's my top ten. (I see Barrera at super feather because of the Morales fight, so he's not in this list.)
#1 - Manny Pacquiao (Ring Magazine champ)
#2 - Juan Manuel Marquez (WBA/IBF champ)
#3 - In-Jin Chi (WBC champ)
#4 - Scott Harrison (WBO champ)
#5 - Chris John (WBA interim champion)
#6 - Oscar Larios (he moved up from super bantam)
#7 - Ricardo Juarez (WBC Continental Americas titleholder)
#8 - Spend Abazi (WBA International titleholder)
#9 - William Abelyan
#10 - Zahir Raheem
I kind of wished Marquez defended against one of these fighters in this list instead of Salido a while back.
There is no doubt, he the #1 Featherweight right now. However, I still think Erik Morales can beat him.
But Morales isn't at featherweight. He's at super feather. And it would be interesting to see what he does next after his loss to Barrera. Same for Barrera too, what does he do next? Stay at super feather and defend, move up (not likely), or go back to 126?
I have Pac and Marquez tied as #1 in the Featherweight rankings, since they didn't quite settle things in their last bout (but it was a F.O.Y. at least). Pac got the slight edge on quite a few of the observers cards as did Marquez, it was close;
At least Manny had the drive to keep on the offensive, most fighters going against Marquez are frustrated by his counter-punching up to the point that they resign themselves to a pact of non-aggression. Not so for the flamboyant power-puncher, he took the fight to Marquez until the end, and Marquez did what he had to do by countering his charges. I got my money's worth on that fight (since I bet on a draw)
I have respect for both, but I'd need to see the next few months before I change my rankings. Barrera doesn't count here, unless he moves back down, he's #1 at Super Feather (since Morales beat two of the top 130s to gain the WBC and IBF straps, and Morales was decisioned by MAB).
