Would he have made around as much money as his typical UFC fights? Say he were to have his boxing debut against someone like Omar Chavez or Antonio Margarito, beat them...then have his second fight against someone like Gabe Rosado or James Kirkland. Would those events bring in good money for him to be worth it?

I barely got to download the replay yesterday, I couldnt watch it live as I had to be somewhere. When it first got made, I was really excited for the fight and couldnt wait to watch it because I was sure it was going to be a great one. Seeing Martinez train with an elbow brace and knee braces made me lose some faith in the fight but I was still hoping for the best. Then I read the news and hear peoples comments and it sure seemed like a dull fight with Martinez looking worn and not like the fighter we've known. It sucks when great fighters like Martinez go out like that and dont get to show their worth in a particular fight. Then theres the hype that comes after fights like these, Roach and some media start talking like hes a miracle worker and then his other fighter gets out boxed a few days later. It just sucks when a fight of this magnitude ends up being a letdown, especially because one of them comes in with limiting issues that sucks the life out of a potentially great fight.

In between rounds and after the fight. Some of those slow motion Danny highlights were laughable. Al Bernstein had the difficult job of commenting on the highlights "and here we can see Danny throwing a nice combo...and uhh, even thought none of those punches really landed he showed good effort." I didnt see many highlights for Danny where he wasnt shown mostly missing punches or hitting Herreras gloves. He was actually shown getting clipped by Herrera in many of what where supposed to be highlights of his side of the offense.

Last weekend me and my friends were in LA for the Lopez-Maidana fight so I decided to get some training in at a world class gym on Saturday before the fight. I have to point out that with-out a doubt, Ricky Funez is one of the nicest, down to earth people I have ever met. We went in on Friday before they were closing up to ask if I could train there the next day. He told me of course and that it would be $10. He talked boxing to my friends and I for a few minutes and after we told him we were going to the Lopez-Maidana fight, he invited us to follow them to the fight after the gym closed on Saturday. The next day I show up to train and he sees me and greets me really humbly telling me to get to work. He did not charge me to use the gym and we later saw him after the fights at the Home Depot Center and he gos "hey guys!" and came up to us to talk, really cool nice person. Andre Berto is kind of a jerk and thinks hes the ish. He showed up about an hour later and started to warm up and do his thing. I was on one of the heavy bags when he passed by me and I went up to him to greet him "hey Andre, Im a big fan of yours." All he did is nod his head as to say "yeah, I get that alot." Later on, I was sitting down against the front and was drinking some water so I thought I would take my phone out and get a pic of him hitting the bag. He saw me with my camera and told his buddy to tell me that I cant use my camera. Later on, Im on the heavy bag again and hes sitting by me on the ring. I go up to him and tell him "hey man Im sorry for using my camera I didnt knw." He again nodded as if to say "what ever." There was 3 other people left in the gym when he left and he didnt care say bye to a fan. If I am a famous boxer and a fan comes up to greet me telling me he is my fan, I am going to say "thank you for your support I appreciate it." If he then comes up to me saying sorry for using his camera on me, I am going to say "Its cool dont worry about it, its just that..." Before I leave the gym, I am going to make sure that I go up to my fan and say goodbye. When I would hear people hate on Berto, I would always back him up. I have always been a fan of his. Ive met other boxers that are bigger names than him and were much nicer and humble. Victor Ortiz comes to mind, a guy that beat his ass. I remember he started a 2 minute conversation with me while being surrounded by other fans wanting pics and autographs from him. I also remember Robert Garcia and Nonito Donaire were talking to my trainer and I at the Ward-Bika fight. They got up to talk to some people that they knew and were about 20 feet away by the ring. When they were done talking to those people, they could have just left but I was shocked that they remembered us and turned around, came up to us to shake our hands and say good bye, then they left. Sergio Martinez is another really nice and humble person that I got to meet and talk to. But Im not gonna lie, it was still pretty cool training right next to Andre.

Im glad to see him back in the boxing world, I hope he succeeds in his comeback, boxing needs an exciting star like him to make big fights.

I was in Vegas for the fight and this is the only round I recorded, turned out to be a pretty good one. The arena was going crazy.

The situation with Victor Ortiz and his manager got me thinking. Almost 200k out of a 800k purse...OUCH that would hurt! The hurt would not be so much as a part of me having to give a piece of the pie away. It would just hurt me to think of what I had to do to give that piece of pie away, and what the person on the receiving end did to get the piece of pie. I don't care how many documents were read, how many minutes were spent on the phone, how much thinking was done, how much writing was done. In the end of it all and up until the night of the fight, the boxer(and trainer to a lesser degree) went through 100x more than the manager did. As a boxer endures the agonizing trait of peak athletics and multiple rounds of sparring through training camp, the manager works for the boxer while sitting down in the comfort of a desk. As the boxer enters the ring with an opponent opposite to him who's goal is to rip his head off, the manager gets to watch in the comfort of his ringside seat. All the pain the fighter has endured in the weeks leading up to those moments that the manager is witnessing ringside, all the pain the fighter is fighting through in the ring...and the manager gets to enjoy the part of his job where he gets to spectate. This goes for promoters too...and uncle sam that crook bastard. In any type of job, the employee should get paid. Every one should rightfully get paid. I just feel that people take too much from the person that has to carry the load that no other person within that group comes even close to carrying. I think if you have boxed even in the amateurs you would feel this way more so than others. The boxers are the ones that go through levels & LEVELS above any one else involved with them. Its like...damn take it easy on the boxer. He only gets to make money only off of himself for so long. Every one else involved in getting their hands in the pot gets to make money off of multiple boxers for an extended period of time.

Johnny Tapia at #8. Every now and then I like to check the trends to see whats going on. I was pretty surprised that they were there but I guess these tragedies really created alot of buzz. Still really shocked about Paul Williams tho mann..

Ive been thinking about it and I just dont get it. I look at that belt and I see a smelly garbage can I wouldnt want to be any where near. WBC might as well make a cubic zirconia belt for fights involving prospects, and many more for many other circumstances. Is there something Im missing here? Did the WBC offer it for free?

I cant think of any other fight at the highest level with a prime boxing star at the peak of his career with so much hype/expectations behind him. Especially considering they waited 4 years to rematch a 38yo lightweight champion against the #1P4P welterweight champion.

Their case is that while he was high/drunk he started to act aggressive and intimidating after she wanted the party to stop and he insisted that it hadnt. Oscar ordered drugs to the room and told her to invite a friend since she was not too enthused. He was wearing both their lingerie. She pretty much screwed a guy she just met so she could get her teeth fixed. Now she wants millions of dollars because Oscar made her feel uncomfortable prohibiting her from leaving. They go around saying JMM will give him trouble. Then they go around talking about how Pacquiao is going to destroy Mayweather, who is 10x better at anything Marquez does plus things Marquez cant do. Shows how bad they want to make this fight look good.

I know they are pulling in huge PPV numbers left and right especially in todays more advanced technology/more homes having PPV and I saw Pacquiaos bad acting commercial all over TV for a while and he has a line with Nike. I was talking to a 21yo girl who is a co worker and we got to talk about how I love boxing and she asked me who was my favorite boxer. I said you probably dont know who he is but its Sergio Martinez, you probably have heard of bigger names like Pacquiao and Mayweather. She said she didnt know who they were and she only knew of bigger names like Tyson and De La Hoya. I was kinda shocked at first because I see Pacquiao as being more renown than Mayweather so I thought she'd at least heard of him. And I know they do big numbers but Im talking about being renown as in the amount of people who know who they are. I think that Tyson and De La Hoya still are the top dogs, more people know of them. You can even check Tyson and De La Hoyas media resume from today or back in the day and its much longer than Pacquiaos especially Mayweathers. I mean you see Mike all over TV and in movies and Oscar made something like 12 appearances on the Tonight Show!!! All hail the star power of Tyson and De La Hoya!

Leading up to the Marquez-Pacquiao 2 fight I remember pac fans talking about how Pac was going to destroy JMM, KO him in the 1st, this an that...even after the fight for months pac fans were arguing that Pac would murder JMM in a rematch and I cant even remember how many times I got into it with pac fans saying JMM sucked, is overrated, is a bum. Now its the opposite, I see pac fans all over the place pleading that JMM is a great fighter and that he is going to give Pacquiao a helluva fight. Lol just found it funny.

I dont understand why people are all over are wasting time arguing that it was legal, lets talk about how they charged the most PPV fee ever for this fight and how Floyd chose to end the fight in one of the shittiest ways ever. Floyd could have easily took a step back after they hugged, put his guard up like so many other boxers have when they meet in the center of the ring at the start of a round, and allow for the fight to proceed. I also dont understand why people are arguing that it was karma so some how it was OK to still take a big dump on the fans that shelled out the $60. Lets talk about the fact that he had 8 rounds left to sneak in a hard low blow, an elbow, even a headbutt. What Floyd did and the "protect yourself at all times" thing is something that would be more appropriate for a ball room bout with some no names, not a fucking mega PPV fight in the 4th round.

Pacquiao vs JMM is complete BS, terrible, terrible, and I cant believe people are not grasping the severity of this fight. Mayweather is feather fisted compared to Pacquiao, add to that his style. I mean its just an over all crap fight. If Marquez had any chance to beat Pacquiao he would have to stay on his legs the whole 12 rounds...he got dropped by Katsidis. Pacquiao will have absolutely no respect for his mosquito punches at welterweight compared to Cottos, Clotteys, Margaritos, Mosleys. Hes going down 5 times before a stoppage possibly a Hatton type KO. Just imagine if Mayweather vs Marquez was a shit fight at welterweight against an old JMM. Pacquiao is now doing the same thing over 2 years later!
