I think he does it, thinking he'll get away with it. Then he gets caught, and he apologizes.
Not sorry he did it, but sorry he got caught doing it.
I laughed when the ref told ortiz not to touch gloves or hug lopez when the action resumed cuz we all know what happened against mayweather LOL.
BUT SERIOUSLY this is a bad habit ortiz has - he has no self control. Lopez was bent right over facing away from Ortiz and Ortiz still thinks its a good idea to throw a punch to the back of his head right in front of the ref? It was a clean fight for the most part besides that incident. Ortiz got away from his jab that was really effective and hid the fact that ortiz has no upper body movement defensively. He would have won the fight if he learned how to dodge a punch here and there. This is really a trainer issue.
Now this guy is clearly defined as a hater
I am a fan of Ortiz and was at a shock bc I did not know why my guy quit.(while fight was going on), but that doesn't mean I am going to say he is a p***y after knowing his jaw was broke. Be a true fan and not some douche. It is clear you don't care about a person's health and prefer the Gladiator fights with deaths. Grow up be civilized. FYI just bc ur a human and got surgery that ended up far worse than a man with greater injury does not mean S**T.... Ortiz got top dollar care you on the other hand didn't or maybe it could be bc Ortiz had upgraded technology or a better surgical team etc.... My point is nobody cares about your tooth n ur childish attitude (:gives:)...... Hope Ortiz gets well and he still has time to be a champ. :notworthy
Im the definition of a hater? You clown ass Noob or dirty ass alt. My rep is set around here. Dont come on here questioning me because I have an opinion that you dont agree with.
1st off I had my wisdom tooth pulled and its normal for alot of people's jaw to swell so why are you saying all that extra **** about money & care? It doesnt even make sense.
2nd, I never called him a ***** so dont put words in my mouth, *****. I like gladiator fights with death yet Im probably the #1 guy on this forum who sticks up for pure boxers the much and say that there is nothing better than a high speed chess match? Again, know wtf youre talkin about.
So I dont care about Victor's health because I said he should go out & try? If you read all my other post, my stance is that he should just try to stick, move, jab, run because the fight is close and its not like Lopez is some killer. Lopez is also beat up.
I never said Ortiz is a ***** who should finish the fight. I said he quit because he didnt try to come out for the 10th. He gave up immediatly. If he came out for the 10th, took a couple of hard shots and saw it was too much then its ok for him to stop but my point is to try to see 1st.
Instead, he paniced. I dont care what anyone says. He paniced. He didnt even try to hear his corner out, reason, or anything. He basically pushed his corner out the way and screamed for the ref to stop the fight. Now if you dont agree then fine.
I respect everyone's opinion. Now respect mine before you call someone at hater who you know nothing about. Ive been on here since 04 and am well respected. Everyone knows I dont talk **** so dont start labeling someone
ya real nice guy with the rabbit punches...wtf is up with that and then after he is SUPER apologetic! what a weirdo
I think he does it, thinking he'll get away with it. Then he gets caught, and he apologizes.
Not sorry he did it, but sorry he got caught doing it.
That's why he's one of the most exciting and dangerous fighters in the game..... Lol
that kid too nice for boxing.
you can tell he enjoys every bit of media and attention, but having that true warrior mentality thats just not him.
i wish him all the best though

I think I was to hard on Ortiz right after the fight because of what happened in the Maidana and Mayweather fights. After getting the facts I don't think he was wrong to quit when he did.I look foward to the rematch if it happens. I think Ortiz will win next time.
He quit. I dont care what anyone says and I was a fan. Also, dont forget 2 things. No one is claiming that he didnt not break his jaw so IDK why people keep saying "see, look at that".
Also, this pic is "post surgery". I had my wisdom tooth taken out on Friday and my jaw was even bigger than that. The point is could he have "tried" to go out in the 10th, stay on the outside, and see what happens? He doesnt have to finish. Just try and be mentally tough. If its too much then you can quit but he didnt.
Im not buying the 5th round stuff either. Again, Ortiz was the one who said it happened in the 9th himself but everyone is now going to believe his team who is trying to save face. The same team who was upset and tried to stop him from quitting?
Good kid but oh well. I wouldnt be smiling right now. His hole career just took a huge step back

You don't seem to get the simple concept here. Emotion ≠ mental lapse.
Anyway, we'll see how you handle a broken jaw in your future, if it ever happens.
I've handled it well. I wasn't fighting though, but I broke my jaw wrestling in high school. I lost in the pub, but i finished the match. I am an extremely competitive person and the type of guy who breaks stuff when he loses. I just refuse to lose. It sucks and it will probably get me killed one day, but hey.
Well then you have my sincere apologies in assuming you had no fight experience and good luck with your career. I'd like to see some of your fights in the future to see just how well you can deal with adversity and pain. You talk a good game, not doubting you but I'm just curious if you practice what your preach.
I don't agree with you on the topic we have discussed so we can just agree to disagree.
For the record, I'm a bit of a headcase too. I'm hoping it doesn't become my Achilles heel. But I'll admit to having times where I didn't appreciate the blood flow from my nose (i'm not use to it, it's something that never happens) and wished I could get the hell out of there LOL. But, work is work, we get through it and work on why the nose bled in the first place. But by definition (as i call it), things like that would make me a headcase. God forbid I have those thoughts when it actually means something and then I for whatever reason try to find a way out. You know?
It's entirely possible. I'm a realist above all, I don't put myself above anyone, we're all human. I could very well be a headcase too.. but we go hard here in Philly, so I'm hoping not.
Ortiz did this because he had a mental lapse
Ortiz did that because he had a mental lapse
Ortiz did it because he had a mental lapse

Umm are you sure he didn't do it because he was angry? You're mixing emotion with what you call a "mental lapse". Normal human beings show emotion.
But rather than Ortiz headbutting Mayweather because Floyd hit him with multiple elbows, it was rather a "mental lapse", right?
Bro... even that anger is a mental lapse. He isn't a poise or level headed fighter. I wouldn't call him entirely emotional in their either (like, say, Chad Dawson, Lateef Kayode, and Yordanis Despaigne have been) but letting emotions take over like that, by definition, is a mental lapse is it not? He failed to keep his cool. You're pretty much saying what I said - difference is you're refusing to categorize it. Ortiz, by definition, is a boxing headcase. Why do you guys have a problem with me stating that?
Wait.. I'm confused. When did I say he QUIT against Floyd? Please show me this... I never said the floyd loss was a quit, nor did i sit here and call him a quitter. I said he quit against Lopez and Maidana, and those were mental lapses too, because to me, a quit is a mental lapse. Are you confusing me with someone else or?.... I noticed you were arguing with someone on ANOTHER POST about this topic too and they said he quit against floyd, maybe you're confusing me with them.\
As for the second half of your reply, my facebook info is in my profile. I have been Derrick Ennis and Gabriel Rosados chief sparring partner for the last year now and am working on getting my own career situated. Pics and Videos are all in my FB. So yes, i have stepped in the ring, many many times and have helped some of the best in Philly prepare.

That's not logic, that's common sense. He falls into the boxing description of a headcase. You can't seem to get your damn head around that small concept. Other fighters who fall into it are Miguel Cotto, but you'd have to dig really deep and dissect him to form a case.
People say he quit against Margo - sure, he took a knee, but the punishment he withstood was far worse than that of what Ortiz withstood. I've even seen you call Cotto a quitter - then Ortiz is a quitter too.
Cotto fights like a bully. He's the aggressor when his opponent is on the backfoot, but when they stand their ground he's on his bike - you can argue that's a headcase move too, as IMO he lost to Clottey for this very reason.
But, that's reaching, though not very far. In Boxing terms Ortiz fits the bill of a headcase. He's in there with Judah and Cintron, why is this so hard to understand? There are fighters who lack heart, and fighters who lack mental fortitude. I use to question Ortiz' heart, now I just question where his head is at because he does questionable things when under fire.
I think it's obvious that this dude has a PhD in Sports Psychology and we should all listen to him. I'm pretty sure he has also developed a power in which he can feel the pain every fighter is feeling through the TV while he sits on his couch.
lol so now the Mayweather loss was a mental lapse and not a quit?
I think anybody with eyes can see that Ortiz was robbed in that Peterson fight. Yes Peterson came on strong in the later rounds (even though Ortiz won the 10th round), but could it just be that maybe Peterson is a good fighter?
I don't now why you're so riled up man, just because I don't share the same opinion or view as you? And it's obvious you have probably never stepped foot inside a ring and think it's so easy to stay composed during a fight.
Wait.. I'm confused. When did I say he QUIT against Floyd? Please show me this... I never said the floyd loss was a quit, nor did i sit here and call him a quitter. So you're saying he didn't quit against Lopez? I didn't see a count, or a knockdown. He quit in his corner. Get over what? He's a damn headcase. He had Peterson beat! As soon as Peterson pushed back he let his foot off the gas and allowed a draw. Turned into a scared fighter.
He got frustrated with Floyd and did what? A damn diving headbutt. You seriously going to tell me the Floyd situation wasn't a result of a mental lapse? I guess Tyson biting Holyfields ear wasn't a mental lapse either.
lol so now the Mayweather loss was a mental lapse and not a quit? Which one is it according to you wise one?
I think anybody with eyes can see that Ortiz was robbed in that Peterson fight. Yes Peterson came on strong in the later rounds (even though Ortiz won the 10th round), but could it just be that maybe Peterson is a good fighter?

Again with the "He's different than I am, he must be a nutcase!"
For every action there's a reaction. Not even reaction is a "mental lapse" as you call it. Logic, use it.
