Bernard sounded fine to me. He doesn't have a broadcasting degree you know.
Agreed, this is a piece of garbage thread and needs to be deleted ASAP. It's gonna give people who don't follow B-Hop or boxing a false sense of him. He isn't close to punch drunk.
I watched the movie Frost/Nixon the other day. Gave me a whole new perspective of what the interviewer has to do to prepare himself if he wants to grill the person hard that he is interviewing.
Just once I'd like for someone to nail Floyd during these interviews unstead of letting him ramble on. There were plenty of opening where the interviewer could've stopped him but didn't.
Do you say this just to get a rise out of people.
It's about the same, your taking a guy two full weight divisions past anything he's ever performed at vs having a guy come down 1 full weight class.
same difference
It's not the same difference. I pointed this out for the fact that people are criticising Floyd for fighting JMM, a #2 P4P fighter, and Manny's toughest foe.
At the same time they always point out that Pac did a better Job on Hatton and Oscar, than Floyd did.
Prime Wise, JMM right now is in better shape than either Delahoya or Hatton were at the time they fought Pacquiao. Nevermind the moving up in weight, because Floyd's weight won't beat Marquez, Floyd's superior skills and defense will, IF HE BEATS HIM.
Actually, no, it doesn't. Marquez going up to welterweight is exactly like Pacquiao when he faced Oscar. But here's the kicker--in all likelihood Marquez will be slower and will have less power when he faces Mayweather, who will be closer to his natural weight than Oscar at 147. Incidentally, if Marquez puts up a better fight than most people expect, his performance will be better than Pacquiao's victory over Oscar.
Weight has nothing to do with it. Floyd is a the WEAKEST welterweight around.
If he beats JMM, it will be his skills. And lets not ignore the possibility that floyd may be slower than he was 2 years ago, since he has aged and been out of the ring for a 18 months.
Nah, lets just pile up the excuses for JMM like he is facing Wladimir Klitschko.
yo who really cares, fact is he has a fight sept. 19. Im rootin for marquez...and if he gets past my fighter. The pacs gonna whoop that ass, everyone knows it. Its only a matter of time before pretty boys dethroned.
What a brilliant response. Post of the year honors.
stop crying, little girl. You run like a ****** about to get raped by a woman!!!!!!!!!!!! Running and flicking out feather jabs will never win you a fight, you fake camacho!!!!!!!!!! Go get some trunks that fit and a wig to go with your makeup
rofl.......
Are you pulling my leg here? Floyd being the weakest welterweight doesn't mean he's not powerful enough to KO JMM considering he'll be the bigger man by comparison to the Mexican.
There's no excuses for JMM. A dominant win by Floyd won't overshadow Pacquiao's wins; Floyds suppose to win. And ring rust doesn't factor in here if were strictly talking about skills, right?
Ring rust is always taken into account. Meaning, Floyd has alot more to overcome here then just a very skilled fighter in JMM.
Floyd has Jr.Welterweight punching power.
And again, skills pay the bills. JMM didn't get knocked out thus far because he is a great technician. Pacquaio is a bigger puncher than Floyd P4P and Floyd at 147 is much less powerful than at 135/140. Lets not act like Floyd is Miguel Cotto - a guy who struggled to make 140 and thus moved up to 147.
Floyd moved up for the big fights (e.g. Fighting Judah for the Undisputed title before he knew he was gonna lose to Baldomir, and Delahoya).
There is no way Malignaggie wins this one. Paul made a good point about Hatton having a good KO percentage based on beating bums in England and therefore doesn't have big punching power.
But he should've applied that same logic to his boxing skills. Whan paulie dominated guys with his style, it was against second-rate opponent. When he stepped up (Cotto, Herman Ngoudjo, Ricky Hatton) most of his fights post-Cotto, he couldn't outbox opponents.
Meanwhile Diaz outboxed/out-performed solid guys like Freitas, who can box and punch and he did pretty well against the ultimate boxer in JMM until the KO loss. So he is proven that he can bang with technicians/boxers....Malignaggie hasn't proven shit.
LOL@ the sheep on these message boards. Malignaggie the hype man yells robbery so it has to be robbery.
Every close fight that happens, we got through this. Last time, it was Berto-Collazo. The forum mutants said: 'NO WAY BERTO WON, COLLAZO GOT ROBBED'. Yeah ok, whatever.
It should've been 115-113 across the board whether you had it for Diaz or Malignaggie.
lumpia sounds good. i might cook that for dinner
Please no mutants responding to my threads. Take yourself and that girlfriend poster of yours and discuss your lunch plans somewhere else.
he's just talking for the sake of talking generally. i don't know why people spend so much time analysing his egotistical babble
I realize this, and I generally tell people it's all hype to promote himself as the bad guy of the sport.
Nonetheless, I'd like for someone to confront him with this, whether Kenny or someone in one of those free Chatroom Q & A's he sometimes participates in.
Kind of a valid point however all of Pacquiao's lineal title fights were with legitiment champs @ their respective weight class. Past prime is a different argument but weight drained i think not
The past is the past, he gets props for the coming up in weight and never stopping Ricky Hatton. However, he is the one who skipped out on lightweight before facing any real challangers there. Apparently he thought it was good enough to just take the WBC paper belt from David Diaz and move on up. No Nate Campbell, Casamayor, Guzman, Juan Diaz....nobody.
That's fine, you don't wanna be a lightweight, you aint looking for jr.welterweight challangers, fine too. But then, stop demanding for natural welterweights to make themselves smaller for you. If he wants to show up at 142, that's his choice, but don't make a Cotto or a Mosley come in at 142 as well.
It's not just europeans it's anyone thats not American. Meanwhile in Europe and other countries around the world fighters and fans have alot of respect for American fighters. So much so that they try to emulate them. Anytime you ever see a European fighter in and interview and they ask him who is idol was as a child and they always respond with Ali or Tyson or Marciano. The majority of Americans have no respect plain and simple.
If there are american boxng fans out there who are denying Lewis his place in All-time heavyweight history, then you're right. But I don't see too many of them denying that Lewis was the best of his generation and is a Top 10-15 all time heavyweight.
They don't have to love him like they did Tyson in the 90's or Ali in the 70's to respect him.
if calzaghe was american he wouldnt even get half the hate that he gets right now from you racist xeno phobic americans. the same goes for Lennox Lewis who was widely hated on and disrespected by americans and never got the credit he deserved from yall.
Do I need to bring out my old saying about Calzaghe. The reasons american don't like Calzaghe is because he looks like a queer fighting his way out of spiderwebs in the ring. It's a annoying fighting style.
And if you didn't know, us American's aren't as nationalistic as you europeans BECAUSE WE EVEN BOOO OUR OWN FIGHTERS if their fight is boring. We care about ENTERTAINMENT, period.
And I like Lennox Lewis and acknowledge his greatness. He came to America because he knew that's where the best heavyweights were and he proved himself.
I see Aargh ignored my post. You're a delusional dweeb.
You have to live in America for a few years to realize that we don't even support our american fighters just for being american. If they're in a boring fight, we let them know, boooing their ass off for stinking up the joint.
This is why soccer will never work in America, it's a boring sports that lasts far too long (90 mintures) for us sit through. You guys in europe are so nationalistic, you sit throught that shit singing songs even though the soccer game is 0-0 and it's the 88th minute coming up. AMERICANS would be heading for the exits by that time.
Once more, Calzaghe has god aweful style. When was the last time he actually looked good. Against Jeff Lacy....that's the one time where I appreciated his dominance and didn't notice the slapping. After that, it was all slap scoring victories. The competitive fights weren't wars like Castillo-Corrales or Vasquez-Marquez, but resembled poorly acted Indian amateur film.
ahahah Americans are ultra-nationalistic racist scum. and who cares about soccer(football) anyway? this is a boxing forum i could not care less about any other sport.
and once more im not saying that calzaghe is great or anything, he is probably a step below the guys like roy joens and b-hop BUT you americans seem to think he just some euro-bum. which is not true. man im a LENNOX LEWIS fan not calzaghe fan.
I'm a Lewis fan too. And stop generalizing about americans. I'm sure there are American idiots who think the way you make em out to be but they're on the extreme.Just like you are on the extreme. T
he vast majority of americans just want to see great fighters with great skill that's pleasing to watch.
American's have lived through Ali, Foreman, Tyson, Leonard, Robinson, Duran, Chavez, Whitaker etc,. You have to live up to those standards to get respect around here and Joe didn't do it.
Look, Nate may still get this thing reversed into a No Contest. But it still doesn't change that he quit and lost alot of fans tonight. It was obvious to anybody that can see, that he tried to bail out of there before the 5th round so it wouldn't go to the scorecards.
Even his cutman didn't think it was that bad.
Dedicated boxing fan here from the UK, sitting here at 4.26am having watched local boy Witter quit on the stool and then Nate Campbell hard done by. It is the end of the road for Witter surely. I was fuming when he quit. Re the 2nd fight, why is everyone so anti-Campbell. Look at the footage of the fight, there was a clear clash of heads in the round and that led to the cut. The referee was spouting rubbish because under the rules, its a NC and Bradley didn't hit Campbell to cause the cut. Campbell made good noise about it and he was right to do so. I know he was losing the fight and on the backfoot but it should have been a NC!!!
Enough of the rant. I'm blogging and twittering on boxing regularly @ www.sportscene.tk
PEACE!!!
Like I said in another thread. He may still get the decision reversed to no contest. BUT DON'T BITCH ABOUT FIGHTERS NOT FIGHTING YOU AND NETWORKS NOT GIVING YOU AIR TIME. You had your shot tonight and you decided to bail out early unstead of risking it all. He could've fought on till the 5th round, have the doctor take a look at his eye and then if it got stopped and the ref still didn't think it was a headbutt, I would've been there with him.
But he is the one who wanted the stoppage, not the cutman or the doctor who decides these things.
He tried to get the easy way out when he KNEW he would lose.
Ditto. He didn't even give it a chance, he was in a big rush to get that thing stopped before it went to the scorecards after 4 rounds....LOL.
Whoever is creating threads with fake outrage that he got robbed tonight, save it. He quit and you know it.
yes he deserves a no contest but i dont know why he quit. the cut didnt look that bad compared to cottos cut.
Agreed. I don't feel bad for Campbell one bit. It's up to the doctor to take a look at the cut and stop the fight, not Campbell. It didn't look that bad, and the bleeding was already taken care of when the fight got stopped.
Campbell simply knew that he was on his way to lose the fight and tried to escape with the 4-round-no-contest loop hole. Knowing he doesn't get many chances against top fighters, I expected more out of him.
