Apart from the bit about race...good interview.
What he said about that undermines himself as a character...it's not because of his skin colour that he's not popular...it's his attitude and charisma that lets him down.
As somebody else stated...look at Tiger Woods, Jordan, Ali, Eubank, Lewis and even Tyson who was by all accounts a nasty bastard.
Shit, name me a white boxer today who is more famous then he should be? except Hatton... :p
Calzaghe gets no respect because he's British it isn't because he's White.
The truth is EVERYBODY looks at race. As long as different races exist people will.......
If Floyd doesn't get the respect he deserves because he is black then why did Ali, SRR, SRL, Luis, etc. get it? They are black all the same? We all know he made a bullshit comment, simple as that.
If Floyd were white/mexican he'd definitely be much bigger and more respected......
Calzaghe gets no respect... stop with the bullshit, Floyd got racial... for no reason, he is my favorite fighter and yours too... but even if we're a fan we gotta admit when he makes a bullshit comment, there was no reason to get racial... at that one point of the interview... he was being a complete dick.
He didn't say Mexican, he said white... truth is nobody looks at race, nobody cares... if it was the case of him not being as big and popular due to his skin color then why do SRL, SRR, Ali, Luis, etc. get a shit load of credit, they are black... if he didn't get the recognition he deserved cause he was black then why would these guys have? He made a stupid comment, and that is that.
Not trying to get racial myself... but all I am saying is there was no need to say what he said.
Agree:
Last time I checked, the biggest names in the sport over the past 50 years have been Oscar {non-white}; Tyson {non-white}; SRL {non-white}; Hearns {non-white}; Duran {non-white}; ALI {non-white}...and the rest can be filled in like Tito, Manny Pacquiao, Lewis (who has the arguement "If I were American" although considering Pac isn't American, maybe he just didn't have the full "it" factor)...and so on.
Jordan and Tiger Woods are Huge Names not only in the Sports-World, not only in America, but the World. And then you have Kobe, Lebron, etc.
Floyd's still lucky he had O$car and Hatton to help him out with those numbers. They needed him as well, but they were the bigger part.
I mean, I aint saying black fighters are better than white fighters cause I think that's a load of bullshit, IMO its just about the hard work you put in the gym and how hard you train (I am white by the way)... but if anything white fighters get less credit than fighters of other races, not saying they deserve more and getting racial... just saying from what I see they don't.
I don't wanna get racial though and be a hypocrite... but what Floyd said then was stupid, he is my favorite fighter but he was being an idiot then just like he was being an idiot when talking about MMA.
I mean I just wanna get everything straight, everything else he said was spot on... nothing else he said pissed be off and all of the rest of the interview was fine to me... and I had loads of respect for what he said for Gatti, its just that one bit ruined the interview a little... being racial will get him nowhere, especially on television interviews.
Floyd claims that he doesnt care about a pfp title, yet the minute Brian Kenny introduced Floyd as the "former" #1 pfp fighter in the world, Floyd caught a hissy fit! LMAO.
I watched the movie Frost/Nixon the other day. Gave me a whole new perspective of what the interviewer has to do to prepare himself if he wants to grill the person hard that he is interviewing.
Just once I'd like for someone to nail Floyd during these interviews unstead of letting him ramble on. There were plenty of opening where the interviewer could've stopped him but didn't.
If Floyd thinks that Bob Arum owes him millions of dollars it is pretty clear why certain fights never took place, even if Arum doesn't owe him that kind of cash but Floyd thinks he owes him money (I am pretty sure Arum did admit to owing Floyd a bit of cash) that would make it kind of hard to just make things work.
For the injury, why do people expect him to give out that info? He has a fight comming up and it behooves him to not really let JMM know right where the injury took place. Also Floyd has always been very secretive about his camp so he could have been doing some crazy shit or something dumb happeaned either way it doesn't really mean anything.
Interviewing Floyd must be fun and irratating all at the same time. He says some outlandish shit which a lot of athletes don't really do, it can be kind of annoying not getting your questions really answered and he also speaks rather poorly.
If I were white I would be huge.
Why not change your skin color Floyd?
You wont be the first black man to change his skin pigmentation and then you can run around and tell the world that you suffer from Vitiligo and while you are at it, get some plastic surgery on that ugly mug of yours because you are looking old in that interview and to make matters worse, you are starting to look like your daddy :crying: So get that mug fixed, make your nose smaller, add a little cleft to your chin and then go around denying that you ever had plastic surgery in the first place even though we will have hundreds of before and after photos :lol1:
But wait!
If you turn yourself into a white man, you are going to have to go fight for the UFC, because according to you, the UFC is only for white boys.
lol lol lol
Floyd you are such a dumb ass most of the time.
:lol1:
dude im a huge fan of floyd as a fighter but as a person hes starting to piss me off...... all these politics and im this im that is really gettin on my nerves...... ill watch ufc until all this bullshit clears up, and when boxing starts making shit happen.....
with that said, mayweather is still the best
Good interview but he said 1 thing that really pissed me off "If I was white how big would I be right now?!", why get racial?

I think he would be as big as a Ali, Jordan, and Tiger Woods if his personality were more likable. But this ain't an ideal world.
There are underlying issues and events from the past which he is still angry about.
He just needs to fight the guys on the "Hit List" and make it exciting.
Though I can see why people are agry about Floyd getting racial and asking "how big would i be if i were white"... To be honest if Floyd was white he would be bigger then the probably any entertainer in the world right now, definetly bigger and more known then Ali and Tyson... and that's just real take how you wanna take it
Mayweather is an idiot. The guy asked "What do you think of the Pacquiao Cotto clash?" and Mayweather said "Well, Pacquiao has the worst contract in boxing.... 27%......Bob Arum.......Pac don't want none.....27%"
This guy does himself no favours and then makes stupid comments like "If I was white how big would I be right now?!".
No Floyd if you just shut the **** up and got in the Ring then you would be an even bigger star... like Manny is.
hes getting dumber by the interview
yeah i know lol, P4P is just a title kinda like how a honda is a lexus. WTF?!? lol
Honda-Acura
Toyota-Lexus
Mazda-Efini
Nissan-Infiniti
22 minutes of wasted time.
:lol1:
agreed. i stopped it half way threw the second, floyd hates on everyone and wonders why he gets hate back at him. he condradicts everything, more mayweather mumbo jumbo.
