High risk, low reward. Skilled south paw wit4 a lot of power. Enough to take out most heavies even at 42. If you outlast him past 7 or 8 rounds, you win, but most won't.
Greb was obviously great, especially considering he fought a lot of fights without sight in one eye I read somewhere. Tunney beat him 3 out of 4 times I think, and was a career light heavy until the end. Still bigger than Greb but not like he was a big heavy. Tunney was ahead of his time as far as skill, but you can't deny Grebs accomplishments, and giving Tunney his only loss.
Here is what Spence said when asked why he was fighting Lamont Peterson:
“I had a lot of guys not answering the call,” said Spence. “I have a belt and I’m still calling these dudes out. Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman and all these guys. We wouldn’t be sitting here if Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia or Shawn Porter said they’d take the fight. Lamont Peterson answered the call like a real fighter and a real soldier should do.”
He fought Mikey Garcia for the same reason. You can't force them to fight.
Enough said.
Crawford vs Pac is a fight most want to see, aside from the avid Pac fans, that are being hypocritical. He just beat a top 3 welter, has a belt, and now some are saying no, no, no, he is too old to fight this guy or that guy?
Fine. Fight whoever you want, but give up the belt. Don't hold the belt hostage because you think you may lose. No one would be handing out the same sympathy for the guy Pac just beat. Fight the best or get the hell out of the way.
As far as the PPV, it would sell nearly as well as a Spence vs Crawford fight. Pay Manny the $20 million.
Wallin was busy, threw a lot of punches, and pressured Fury, which is the exact opposite of how Wilder fights. This is why Fury has a chance against Wilder. Watch Wilder's last fight and reassess.
Fury has been fighting tomato cans to help build his confidence up. Even his dad said he looked like crap, had no gas in the tank, and was lucky to get the win. You are only as good as your last fight.
Haven't you picked against Wilder in his last seven fights or so?
Again, what's with your weird negative obsession with Wilder? Racism? Anti American agenda? What?
Right on the money. :blackeye: Lots of racism out there. I'll bet he hated Floyd with a passion also.
Wilder should target 210 lbs like in the first fight, he needs to catch Fury, to be light on his feet, he had enough power to hurt him.
If he's too heavy, he will get his ears boxed off as I think Tyson will be in better shape and more economic than he was the first fight.
I think Fury was on his way to win and almost lost by KO because he burned himself out.
Fury is doing mind game, he's not training for a 2 rounds TKO, he's way smarter than that.
The only reason Wilder was so light is that he was still sick. Him at about 230 is ideal.
Fury could have got him out of their if he put his foot on the gas. If he puts it on bumsquad early he can take him out. Bumsquad cant fight on the inside
You need to watch Fury's last fight vs Wallin and re-assess.
If Spence does fight again after his accident, he would be better off at 154 or even 160. He cuts way too much weight to be 100%. I've read him and others saying he walks around nearly 180. His legendary power in sparring is when he weighs in th 160's, not drained down to 147.
Beating Pacquiao wouldn't get him any credit due to Pac's age.
Arreola knocked Ruiz down if you missed it and that was with a 21 month layoff ,who’s to say he doesn’t come in for Whyte much better prepared now being active ?
What has Ortiz done in 3 years to declare Ortiz a better fight ,he was nearly knocked down by Christian Hammer he then fought Wilder who saw that then Alexander Flores those guys are not better then Arreola besides Wilder two years ago and actually Arreola could have gone the distance with Wilder because he was fatigued and quit on his stool near the end of the fight and he had a 3 week camp going into the Wilder fight .
Ortiz hasn’t fought in 11 months , Arreola fought May 2021 and with an actual top fighter not a Flores so I don’t even count that fight that lasted one round . So Ortiz has nearly been inactive in the ring for almost 2 years and counting .

Ortiz is much better than Arreola. He thoroughly outboxed Wilder most rounds but got caught. The 1st one should have been stopped. It's hard to get fights when you are a southpaw with skills and power, and at his age high risk low reward.
spence maybe bigger but he isnt a dynamic fighter than crawford or thurman. he hasn’t fought anyone nearly as dynamic as pac. mikey was too slow and very robotic and spence couldn’t even bully him.
not hating on spence, but he would be an easier fight for pac than crawford. he comes at you chin up no head movement, no defense except to pull back, and pac’s gonna mark up that face with straight lefts.
Robert Garcia says Mikey is the best fighter he has ever coached, and had his way with Maidana when they sparred. Mikey is probably top 5 as far as technical skills in the game today.
People now downplay Spence's win because he didn't KO MG, even though he said he wanted to display his boxing skills. Pac will get beaten by Spence badly. Spence is the real deal. Manny has little experience vs southpaws, and Spence is an elite southpaw.
I had Wilder winning 3 or 4 rounds (including 2 10-8 rounds) with Fury winning the rest. The result being a 2-3 point win for Fury.
I have no issue with you scoring two rounds even resulting in a draw. In fact it is the first comment I've seen here with any merit with regards to arguing Wilders case for a draw.
I can't give more than 4 rounds to Wilder however hard I try so was struggling to see the argument for scoring it even (even though I think it's the best result for boxing).
First of all thanks for the intelligent, well written reply. If it was a points win for Fury, I wouldn't complain or cry robbery. Props to Fury for getting up at the end. I just saw it closer than most I guess with the close rounds. Fury gave the illusion he was in control, but over-all neither guy did a lot aside from a few rounds and the knockdowns.
I hope whoever wins the rematch leaves no question who wins. I have a feeling it will be controversy via cut stoppage or some bs.
I see several here have trouble with reading comprehension. Wilder was being critical of Hearn not having confidence in AJ, (which also affects AJ's confidence). Hearn reached out for the Wilder fight AFTER he sealed the deal to fight Helenius.
Whyte would be Wilders best win, last time I checked he never failed a pre fight physical like 48 year old Ortiz did against Wilder who is his best win . Everybody saw Ortiz looking worse and declining ,so the second fight isn’t even bragging rights .
Ortiz is 40. Him being so old is just an excuse to not fight him. He looked better vs Wilder last time out. Yes he lost by KO, but would have beaten any other heavy that night. If he is so old and washed, why don't any other top 10 heavy step in the ring with him? Use him for a tune up.
I truly hope venue doesn't stop the fight from happening. If Fury beats Wilder I doubt it will be a big issue, unless Fury thinks having it in the US will be a disadvantage for Joshua.
Wilder touched his chin last time. Fury won.
Keep dreaming, re-watching, etc. It was a draw, and it was the right call.
Fury being robbed of a decision pretty much equals Wilder being robbed of a KO. 99% of refs would have stopped it in the 12th.
Quit crying.
Fury's sounding confident, but he has to say those things. He knows he got away with one with the big rabbit punch and the headlocks. We'll see a different result this time. Wilder will show a new body attack followed by hooks to set up the straight right, if needed, Give credit when it happens.
There were plenty of rounds where he landed 2 more. 6-4, 5-3... Those shouldn't be hard rounds to score. They're not that fine margins.
Usually I'd agree with you on punches thrown... but when the guy is being made to look stupid I think it should have the opposite effect on the scoring.
Final punch stats, as Old Terry pointed out, were 84-71, which averages out to 7 for Fury, and 5.9 for Wilder. Basically one per round advantage for Fury. I don't think punch stats tell the whole story, but considering Wilder had two KD's and was the aggressor, those saying Fury won going away is down right false.
With a different ref the fight would have been stopped in the 12th. Fury ducking Wilder for a whole year tells me a lot. Him looking like dog **** vs Wallin makes me think this fight will end up inside of 5. Wilder will jump on him early, because he won't want to be behind if the fight is stopped after 4 when the cut re-opens, and it most likely will.
LOL, your the one defending Wilders duck. Us Joshua fans have nothing to excuse. Joshua clearly wants the fight and is saying so, Wilder doesnt want the fight and is saying so.
I know you like the idea of pretending Wilder did not say "I WILL NEVER FIGHT ANTHONY JOSHUA". But the rest of us heard it, we also have had to watch Wilder turning down offer after offer, All for more money than hes made from a single fight, some of those offers were for more than Wilder has ever earned in his whole career put together.
We aint making excuses for Joshua. But you have been making excuses for Wilder for over 2 years now.
You keep spouting BS, hoping people will believe it. Keep things in context dude, or stfu. Wilder said he would never fight Joshua because of them not wanting it, not that he is afraid to fight him.
Yes, Ortiz's team turned down the Joshua fight and promised him a Wilder fight. It was a short notice fight, the only way Joshua will ever get in the ring with him. Ortiz would box Joshua's ears off, and most likely KO him.
Main point of emphasis with Keith Thurman vs Crawford. I’ll break it down for you for layman boxing “fans”
Keith is weak to the body and his chin is very suspect. Watch the Lopez fight and when pacquaio landed some not so clean shots to his chin . He gets rocked. Crawford is a great technician and counter puncher . If he can land one clean like he did with benavidez he can finish Keith. But it took til 11th rd with benavidez. That’s a possibility of how Crawford fans beat Keith . But what’s more likely this fight will go the descision . If it’s descision fight Keith has a real chance to beat bud Crawford. Bud doesn’t have a high output til he gains control of the tempo and timing of his opponents. He is not Errol Spence . But with Keith , he can’t gain that tempo with Keith. If you learned anything from Keith vs pacquaio, even after his knockdowns and his face getting smashed in the 5th rd. Thurman came strong in the middle to late rds. Bud, even he has succeeded in the early rds, that’s not gonna stop Keith’s momentum and aggressiveness. Crawford will get punish from a heavy and legit welter weight. Keith is not benavidez or Jeff horn. Not even close. Bud is notgonna impose his will on Keith. Keith is gonna outwork bud and can put bud in the defensive mode, we have not seen so far. So when u hear bud is gonna crush Keith, they are just looking at their names and believing on hype and name alone. They have no clue how it will play out.
Your post seemed like a drunken layman boxing fan post.
Stop the bull****. It don't matter what he weighs on fight night. This guy hasn't ever fought at 168. This is a cherry pick **** fight period. Typical Canelo bull****.
I somewhat agree, and yes, Canelo is using this to duck the best at the weight. I hope it backfires. Mell is a big guy, but we'll see how his chin holds up.
If you don't see this guy's talent, you should follow a different sport. His resume is lacking, but he's tried to get big fights. Canelo, Charlo, Munguia, Dervenchenko, GGG, Plant, Lara, Saunders are all examples of guys that wanted nothing to do with Andrade in recent years.
I think the Benevidez fight will show us why he was avoided. If I'm wrong I'll admit it. May the best man win.
