DeGale is right, Murray should win barring a questionable decision in Germany. Then once DeGale beats Bute, perhaps they can collide in a unification clash
You're right... Khan is too big, his reach is too long and if he uses his jab and moves he can win by decision. But if he stands and trades he plays into Pacquiao's hands...
I get that you love Khan and think he is one hell of a fighter. I have seen all of his fights available to be seen. I disagree with you on how good he is and on the statements you make about other fighters being afraid of him. He just isn't that good and he is famous for his weak chin. He has yet to beat anybody good at 147. He struggled to beat Algieri and never hurt Algieri while Algieri hurt him several time. In his fight before Khan Algieri fought Pacquiao and lost one of the most lopsided decisions in history. He lost by a score of 120 to 103 and was knocked down 6 times. Algieri said Pacquiao was vastly superior to Khan in every way.He said Pacquiao was faster and punched much harder than Khan. He should know since he shared a ring with both Pacquiao and Khan just a few months apart. I'll take Algieri's word of yours on how Pacquiao compares with Khan. Plus I have seen Pacquiao and Khan fight many times and I think Pacquiao is much better. What has Khan done since his miserable showing against Algieri? Absolutely nothing. Khan does no fighting at all but expects big fights handed to him on a silver platter and when the big stars don't fight him he claims they are scared of him. Khan is a delusional joke of a fighter who is wasting his prime years by inactivity and cherry picking.
But you're basing it on one common opponent. I understand if you think Manny beats Amir, but to base it on one fight I disagree. Khan is a world class fighter. Pacquiao is a legend. Khan has fought a high level of opposition for most of his career. Kotelnik, Malignaggi, Judah, Maidana, Peterson, Garcia, Alexander, Collazo & Algieri is no joke, it's an impressive list. I do agree that he does need to be more active now though while in his prime years... But I don't blame him for chasing the biggest names and best fighters (Floyd & Manny)... Too often we are here criticizing fighters for ducking and dodging other fighters, but now we are criticizing Khan for wanting to face the best... !?
I like how Gary Russel is mentioned over the guy that blitzed him(Loma). That's alright, we beat him 99 times out of a 100. Loma just caught Gary on an off night.
Hahahahahahaha
Holy crap this card is freakin stacked.
I'd lose my shyt if they added Abraham/Ramirez.
Sauerland beat Top Rank at the purse bid... The fight is confirmed for April 9 in Berlin, Germany
That fight will happen in Germany probably. Can't pay Abraham title holder-money on an undercard of a fight that is probably going to do 600-800k ppv's and has Pacquiao on the main event. Walters and Uchiyama are easier to pay. Just guessing here, but Abraham probably does 3 million euros for his top fights, or more, whoever knows how much, correct me. Regardless, Abraham vs Ramirez is probably unaffordable, it's a main event in itself
You're right, Sauerland beat top rank at the purse bids... It's confirmed for April 9 in Berlin
Yes, he has to make a mandatory title defense against Dejan Zlaticanin next. The two sides are in negotiations, and the WBC deadline for a deal to be reached before purse bids took place was Friday. However the WBC extended the deadline because the two parties informed them that a deal is close and will be officially announced (date, location etc) before the new year or just after the new year has begun
Also hold up, it has been reported that Linares is in talks to possibly fight WBA champion Anthony Crolla in a WBC/WBA unification in Manchester, UK in March/April time.
If this fight does not happen thought he's facing Zlaticanin next
anyone know if hes fighting soon and who? :boxing::boxing:
The other guy explained it perfectly, but yeah, it's basically when an organization orders a champion to face their mandatory, no.1 ranked contender. champions get a voluntary title defense period where they can fight anyone in the top 15 of that governing bodies rankings eg Linares is the WBC lightweight champion so can defend against anyone in the top 15 of the WBC lightweight rankings, but then after a set period of time they must face the mandatory challenger, which in this case the no.1 ranked WBC mandatory challenger is Zlaticanin.
The two respective sides - Linares & Zlaticanin's teams - have a certain time frame to do a deal and come to terms of purses for the boxers, venue, date, TV network etc. if a deal is not done in that time frame then a purse bid will be held, where the side who bids the most will get full control over the venue, date etc and will be able to announce it when they have it sorted (which of course must be within a set time period, a very short one). Usually with a purse bid the champ will get 75% of the purse and the challenger 25%.
The only thing that takes preference and allows a champion to not have to make a mandatory defense is if they agree a unification fight ie Linares as WBC champ agrees to face the WBA, IBF or WBO champ.
Hope this helps!
If Khan was half as good a boxer as he claims to be he would be twice as good as he really is. He has been inactive for almost two years and shouldn't be rated a top 10 welterweight until he beats someone in or near the top 10 if he can.
What is the top 10 at welterweight in your eyes? Tell us your rankings

In fact, make it your top 15
Thought he suffered a loss when he received a gift SD a few fights ago. He should have a loss on his record
Bounced back well, thought he looked great vs Thomas Williams Jr & Seanie Monaghan, spectacular displays which highlighted his potential & stamped his mark as an emerging contender.
Very disappointed that he withdrew from/ducked the WBC-ordered eliminator vs Gvozdyk, to me it says a lot that he & his team opted to duck that particular Bout.
Chad Dawson with a bit bigger pop; seems to have better mental makeup than Chad did, but not sure if he's fully confident in his ability just yet.
Won't know his true trajectory for another 2-4 fights; next few fights are going to be real key for him (needs to be thrown in with another peaking fighter like him, say a Bivol or Gvozdyk, or simply put in with an aging vet with ability still there, like Pascal or Chilemba).
The WBC ordered him to face Gvozdyk in an eliminator & he opted to withdraw/duck the Bout, which is very disappointing.
he has tax problems. cant come to the US or they'll arrest him at the airport.
People said this months ago and yet he was literally in the US about 2 weeks ago in the ring after Spence vs. Garcia & he also fought in the US just over 2 months ago...
Where is he? Who is he training?
Any notable fighters?
I was just watching Cotto Maragrito 2 and thought to myself where IS Diaz now?
I haven't been following our sport closely as of late, anybody know ?
He trains Ivan Baranchyk who won the IBF 140lbs World Title last year, lost the IBF belt via UD in a great battle vs. Josh Taylor & returned on the GGG-Derevyanchenko card with a 4 round demolition of Gabe Bracero
If you check Kovalev is with Top Rank as is Gvozdyk.
Bivol is with Ryabinsky's 'World of boxing', and Beterbiev as of 2018 is with PBC, so it's a bit of a soup.
The only two I see fighting each other in the next year is Bivol and Kovalev. Bivol stays busy and is fighting Smith Jr on 9th March.
Beterbiev will most likely fight bums for the foreseeable future and hold the IBF belt for ransom unless he truly wants to challenge himself.
I can't see Gvozdyk risking his belt for a while.
Bivol v Kovalev late this year might happen, but that depends on Buddy McGirts advice to Kova.
One thing preventing certain belt holders sitting on them are the prospects and contenders coming through.
Bivol signed with Hearn & DAZN. Co-promotion with World Of Boxing. Bivol also said he's moving down to 168 after the Smith fight.
Beterbiev isn't with PBC anymore. Haymon released him & Beterbiev signed with Top Rank.
