Some of these gatekeepers seem too low/high. A gatekeeper has some name recognition but has lost at least a few times. Lamont Peterson has only lost once I believe, but def on his way. Clottey is a bit too inactive but his losses put him up there. Carson Jones is spot on. I opted for Miranda over Bika because I believe Bika could beat a number of super six guys but not Miranda
Hahahha
This article is coming out after Floyd tweeted to his 900K followers links to all of Manny's losses.
Does everyone think a 50-50 revenue split is fair?
Good Catch about no Vitali Klitschko. I lumped him in with the other Klitschko and counted the higher man's stats since, well....they are making contracts to fight "either/or"
Vitali Klitschko has 14,612 Facebook Fans, which is still not in the top ten.
Floyd could probably make $50M if he had fought Khan, Berto and Bradley this year. Why doesn't he?! What would you guys do to jump at the chance of making that kind of money?
There's also concern from his betting activities on Twitter. He only posts his wins and never the losses, and clearly spends a ton of money. As annoying as he can be, it'd be no fun for him to be the next Evander Holyfield.
Floyd needs to be more active
That's the sad yet cool thing about boxing
In one sense, even non-celebrities have more fans and exposure than some of the bigger stars.
However, as a fan it's easier to influence the sport and have direct interaction with the stars. Ive received tweets from Mosley, De la Hoya, Tarver and other big names. Try getting a response from Lebron James or Chad Ochocinco...much harder
Nope, it's a Top Rank (apparently) owned page.
Check it out here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/TopRankMannyPacquiao
Floyd's Twitter is @FloydMayweather
It's a small gap between the two, and only a point of argument over "Who is really more popular?"
Someone Tweet it at Floyd
The WBO is the best of the alphabet belts, but that's like saying that Stalin was more saintly than Hitler and Pol Pot. He was, but that ain't saying much.
Lol!!! Stalin, Pol Pot, WBO, Gilberto Mendoza = all bad for humanity
When I said "mismatch" I mainly meant a fight with a substantial favorite. Unlike Bradley-Alexander, where Bradley was a slight favorite, these fights involve Much clearer favorites.
Ortiz and Dzinziruk aside, the rest of these fights I don't believe will be even close.
AdditionallY, i didn't include Abraham-Ward because it's a tournament. The fights above were made with no real outside pressure except for mandatories
You are right. Drummed those up real quick. Did so because K9 is current champ and Mora bores Us. Do you think Mora would beat Ishe in a 10 round rematch?
Also, I'd love to see a season 5 at Heavyweight.
Oh uea, I think Troy Ross will rise to be a top cruiserweight
Come on Dan would look great bald. It would bring out his curves and he and Dibella could form a standup comedy team.
To see how he'd look bald, see: http://theboxingempire.blogspot.com/2011/04/why-dan-rafael-needs-to-shave-his-head.html
Nobody noticed this thread starter is only here to plug his own website? This will be deleted shortly.
For the record, Andre Dirrell.
Nah, if I could post the entire article I would. But I am banned from posting links until I have made so many posts.
My focus was generally on guys whobeither go through long unexplained bouts of inactivity, or do not make the best fights possible. I understand some of the guys named, but if they are active I can appreciate it.
Oh and by hate i really mean "currently annoyed by...". All of these guys have given us great entertainment. I'd never want anything bad to happen to them, including real annoying ones.
Definitely should have included Amdre Dirrell.
Can't be mad at Super Six guys. How many fighters who are Undefeated are willing to fight in tournaments?
theboxingempire.blogspot.com/2011/01/scoring-shane-mosley-vs-andre-berto.html
Berto is everything that is wrong with the sport today. The joker spends more time on twitter than he does training and trying to improve himself as a fighter.
Thanks! And you are right. Berto may never fight a legitimate contender, but he will have the unified Twitter title belt
He was bragging the other day that HBO was at his house filming, probably preparing for his next bout against semi-retired Randall Bailey or a Freddy Hermandez rematch
