Ten Reasons Dan Rafael Should Shave His Head
Here at TheBoxingEmpire, we've heard rumors that ESPN's honored senior commentator Dan Rafael made a promise. A promise that he did not keep.
We tried to brief you on it yesterday here, but we need your help.
Specifically, in a chat on September 11, 2009 NO LESS, Dan clearly stated the following:
Tomas (Texas) Do you predict May/Marquez bringing in good numbers? Over or under 1 mil?
Dan Rafael
(12:16 PM)
Absolutely under. If it does more than 1 million I will shave my head on national television if ESPN gives me the outlet.
Richard (Kendall Park, NJ)
"If it does more than 1 million I will shave my head on national television "... But you're keeping the beard, right Dan?
Dan Rafael
(12:20 PM)
I'll lose the beard too.
Yet to date, Dan Rafael still has his golden locks of hair intact.
We say, not any longer.
Now many of you were less than enthused when we first broke the idea, so we here at TBE wanted to give you ten reasons why it is worth having Dan Rafael shave it off.
The Boxing Empire's Top Ten Reasons Dan Should Shave It Off
10. It's not like we're asking you to shave your nether regions.
9. It grows back.
8. You won't get confused for Michael Moore any longer.
7. You could sell your beautiful locks.
6. We hear Mrs. DTM has a thing for bald guys.
5. You and Lou Dibella could go as twins for Halloween.
4. It would emphasize your curves.
3. TBE won't release any of those embarrassing photos. Dan, we know what you and Oscar de la Hoya did last summer.
2. You can moon people by putting two bald heads together.
1. You can benefit a great charity!
Think about it Dan. You could help veterans by supporting Wounded Warriors. You could do a going "Bald for St. Baldrick's" the charity that encourages you to shave your head to raise money for charity. You could help build a Habitat for Humanity.
But please, just don't do nothing.
How You Can Help

2) Write on the Friday Night Fights Facebook Page that you want to see Dan go bald for charity on the Friday Night Fights before Pacquiao vs. Mosley

You want us to contact another man about shaving his beard??? How bout contacting him about losing weight.
Come on Dan would look great bald. It would bring out his curves and he and Dibella could form a standup comedy team.
To see how he'd look bald, see: http://theboxingempire.blogspot.com/2011/04/why-dan-rafael-needs-to-shave-his-head.html
I was misled by the content of the topic and assumed that helping Dan shave naturally meant his beard. I can think of at least 2 reasons to help him by shaving his beard off, and only one for shaving his head, which, since he is no longer a small boy, should not be neccesary.....
Apart from that, I think that except for some perceived advantage it may give professional athletes, like boxers or wrestlers, I can see no reason to do so. It seems ostentatious and attention-getting to me, and counters the custom of millenia.
And, unless one has a well shaped skull, it often looks rather odd.
