Who is the Most Popular Man in Boxing? The Top 25 Most Popular Boxers
Mean Girls Boxers
Is the old mantra "nice guys finish last" really true in boxing these days?
Who is the most popular fighter these days?...And where do all the rest rank?
You know exactly what we're talking about: The ole do you think he'll like me more if I sleep with him?
To solve this enigma, we wanted to use only the most scientifically reliable sources around: Facebook and Twitter.
THE TOP TEN POPULAR BOXERS
Here we go when it comes to dropping panties drawing fans, these guys are la crem de la crem. And no Mr. De La Hoya, that's NOT what we're talking about.
10. Saul Alvarez

Comment: This is pretty impressive. Could Larry Merchant really have been onto something when he courageously predicted this guy would rise to challenge Manny Pacquiao? Judging by his following already, maybe that one isn't too far off.
9. Shane Mosley

Comment: Can Mosley do the unexpected one more time?
8. Nonito Donaire

Comment: Score one for the little guys! Good luck this Saturday, Filipino Flash. Let's just hope not too many of these followers mistook you for the other popular Filipino.
7. Wladimir Klitschko

Comment: Sorry Dr. Steelhammer, but the Hayemaker has you when it comes to online followings.
6. David Haye
Facebook Likes: 102,786
Twitter Followers: 101,747
Comment: David Haye has more than twice as many online fans as his hopefully future opponent Wladimir Klitschko. Will that help him with his ducking in the ring?
5. Juan Manuel Lopez
Facebook Likes: 131,298
Twitter Followers: 3,619
Comment: The undefeated Puerto Rican star is heading towards stardom and a clash with Yuriorkis Gamboa.
4. Miguel Cotto
Facebook Likes: 154,130
Twitter Followers: 42,626
Comment: Miguel Cotto built his way to stardom the old fashioned way - by demolishing everyone who got in his way. Then came along Margarito, and things haven't quite been the same in the ring. He looks to pick it up and get back to that place against Ricardo Mayorga in March.
3. Amir Khan

Comment: It's hard to imagine, that only a few fights removed the wrong side of a vicious Breidis "Who?" Prescott knockout, that Amir Khan has bounced back to become arguably the third most popular guy in the sport.

Manny vs. Floyd here: http://theboxingempire.blogspot.com/2011/02/who-is-most-popular-man-in-boxing-top.html
That's the sad yet cool thing about boxing
In one sense, even non-celebrities have more fans and exposure than some of the bigger stars.
However, as a fan it's easier to influence the sport and have direct interaction with the stars. Ive received tweets from Mosley, De la Hoya, Tarver and other big names. Try getting a response from Lebron James or Chad Ochocinco...much harder
Floyd could probably make $50M if he had fought Khan, Berto and Bradley this year. Why doesn't he?! What would you guys do to jump at the chance of making that kind of money?
There's also concern from his betting activities on Twitter. He only posts his wins and never the losses, and clearly spends a ton of money. As annoying as he can be, it'd be no fun for him to be the next Evander Holyfield.
Floyd needs to be more active
What was the point of starting at 2008?
lol
The point I was making is consistency. If Floyd were as active as Pacquiao, I doubt there would be a discussion about PPV numbers. But as it stands, Pacquiao has been the more consistent of the two in the last 2 years during when Pacquiao became a big name in sports (in general). Floyd could've kept fighting, but chose not to. The sport goes on.
Yup, im sure it just kills Floyd that some kid in a 3rd world country who cant afford a $50 PPV in the first place likes Pac more then Floyd. Id rather be admired by 10 billionaires then a million homeles people. But this concept, like so many others, are hard for you to handle due to you low IQ.
floyd = A US only superstar
pac = global superstar
im from the east coast......the bolded is funny!
LOL I can care less about PPV numbers, but hey, let's go there.
From 2008-2010
Manny Pacquiao vs JMM II - 400K Buys
Manny Pacquiao vs David Diaz - 250k Buys
Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar De La Hoya - 1.25 Mill Buys
Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton - 825K buys
Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto - 1.25 Mill buys
Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clotty - 700K Buys
Manny Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito - 1.2 Mill buys
Estimated total = 5,875,000 Buys since 2008
Now Floyd:
Mayweather vs Marquez - 1 Mill buys
Mayweather vs Mosley - 1.4 Mill buys
Estimated total = 2,400,000 buys since 2008
We all know Floyd is a PPV seller, nobody denies that, but is that all his fans have to hold on to these days? As it stands, Pacquiao is the more consistent one in the last 2 years and has generated more PPV buys than Floyd. Again, I can care less about PPV numbers because in history it won't determine how great a fighter was (who talks about Leonard and Hagler's gate numbers these days??). The Mayweather fans for the most part are filled with envy that Floyd himself isn't in the spotlight anymore (as far as Boxing is concerned), that's become pretty obvious.

floyd is not an excting fighter like tyson or has the charisma of an ali.....he is big only in the US....he is not a global superstar like pac!....
PPV numbers dont lie
I don't see how Mayweather fans think this is a shock. Pacquiao right now is the figurehead of the sport. He's the more consistent fighter and is being featured in all walks of media from Boxing, endorsements, and now to meeting the President of the United States. Mayweather is dealing with his own personal issues and isn't entertaining a fight with Pacquiao besides posting up videos of Pacquiao losing, something a 12 year old would do.
You reap what you sew.

Hahahha
This article is coming out after Floyd tweeted to his 900K followers links to all of Manny's losses.
Does everyone think a 50-50 revenue split is fair?
Pac don't even have time to be on FB and Twitter and he's still more popular? Waiting for a Flomo to say that FB and Twitter is for losers...
nice sig....asian girls :luvbed:
