A natural 140 easy to make 147 as you state all true than what was the IV for against Pacquiao ? Steroid flushing
Well just going off his size, height, and walking around weight. But everybody's "body" is different. So I don't really know. His skills carried him well. I don't know anything about Floyd taking steroids. Far as I know, Pacquiao was the dude who didn't want the blood testing when their initial negotiations started. And since he started blood testing, his KO's disappeared. I'm not saying he took anything, but it seems odd. But then again, De La Hoya and Cotto were both dehydrated against Pacquiao.
But to be on topic. I just feel Floyd so good he gets compared to so many guys. This guy would've done this to him, that guy would've done that to him. It's never ending. Floyd's a small guy who's able to beat some 154lbs, that's awesome.
Size wise, Floyd Mayweather is a true 140lbs. He use to walk around in the early 150lbs? But I think 147lbs was just easier for him to make. Barely any weight cut at 147lbs. He's a small guy. 154lbs has never been his weight. It's stretching it for Floyd. For those who think weight doesn't matter, you obviously have never sparred or fought inside of a boxing ring. Weight divisions exist for a reason.
Chris needs a new promoter. 50% goes to his promoter for what? Dat fool isn't fighting or promoting. I only know Chris Algieri from those 3 opponents he fought. So they promoted him more than his own promoter did.
Welcome to a month ago
It wasn't "official" a month ago. Rumors aren't concrete info to me. What are your thoughts about this fight though? Good match or what?
To me, it's fine. Bundu is old as heck, but he was already old when Thurman fought'em and that was ok with people. Good experience for Errol Spence to keep building up his resume. The kid is doing what he's suppose to, keep winning fights in a dominating fashion. Hope his big shot comes late 2016 or early 2017.
Its a 50/50 fight imo, maybe 6040 in favor of Bundu, dont sleep on Bundu or he might lay the Boom Boom down on you. On the other hand if Spence manages to get by Bundu, I will definitely be on his bandwagon, quarter final olympian, a Floyd Mayweather recommendation, a win over Algeri, then a Boom Boom Bundu win? Damn, future ATG credentials, he should call out Floyd after this win if he manages to get by, thats a BIG IF though!
It's a good test for sure. I believe in his skills. So we'll see what happens. Bundu ain't no slouch. Tough and awkward with experience. If Spence manages to KO or stop Bundu? Will Bundu's old age be used as an excuse? I hope not.
He's not even strong at 154lbs, don't know if 160lbs is a good weight for him. His issue I see now is he doesn't land enough punches. There's a difference between boxing and running. What Mayweather did to Canelo, that was smart boxing. What Lara did with Canelo, that was running. He fought good, just didn't try to land enough punches to win the fight.
Miguel Cotto is the A-side fighter. He can make that demand. I don't see the big deal. Canelo fought Mayweather in Vegas? That's Floyd's backyard. So what's the problem?
He should be the one fighting Andre Berto in September! Leonard Bundu would also be a good test for him, maybe someone like Jo Jo Dan. He has to work his way up not a fan of just forcing him up because he beat a guy on short notice on National TV
I agree. Move him up gradually, he'll gain better experience that way.
Berto or Guerrero
Good choices. I kinda feel bad for Robert Guerrero. He was one of my favorite fighters before he moved up to welterweight. But he's now become like a stepping stone type of fighter.
Chino and Thurman at 147lbs? I heard Robert Garcia talking about Maidana done blew up in weight on his time off and they may need a long time to train just to get the weight off. Maybe get Chino some tune up fights, let him get back in shape that way. He'll be ready for a big name fight sometime next year.
Everything started with the Gamboa fight, he wanted more money and the Cuban comply, still no fight...
How much was Mikey Garcia suppose to get for that fight? I don't remember the details but I do remember he was suppose to fight Gamboa.
Probably won't know the full story about this for years if ever, but the fact that TR had 3 or 4 notable fighters sitting for a year within the last few years suggest something they are doing isn't on the up & up & the fighters figured it out cuz this happened too many times to too many different guys.
They let Chavez Jr. go right? I remember Arum had issues with him too.
Idk what's up with Top Rank and Brandon Rios but he's been benched for a little too long after his last victory. Now that momentum is gone for him. It was a good opportunity for Bob Arum to bring Rios back in the "W" spotlight. Idk Rios is an elite fighter, but he's solid and he can give fans exciting fights. I wanna see Rios vs. Providnikov at 147lbs. Rios vs. Bradley next is interesting.
Didn't Oscar De La Hoya eventually have a falling out with Arum back in the day? Idk, but I know Floyd and Arum had their grudge for a long time. Best decision Floyd made was leaving Top Rank. I'm not saying Mikey Garcia is on Floyd's level or anything like that, but I think he's talented and it's going to waste right now. He's not making money not fighting, Arum isn't making anything off him keeping him shelved, I say just cut it off and go separate ways.
Not entirely sure, but I think that all of the issues started was when Garcia-Gamboa was being discussed, and it got leaked that Gamboa was getting north of $1m for the fight, while Garcia (undefeated champion at that point) was only looking at getting $500k-$600k.
Garcia asked Top Rank what was up, and Top Rank hasn't talked to the man since.
That's f+*cked messed up. It's not like Gamboa was a bigger star either, not significant enough to make more money than Mikey Garcia.
Canelo doesn't know how to cut off the ring. He doesn't do well against boxers. And he's also flat footed. Don't know who would be a good trainer for him, but he does need a change indeed.
Amir Khan has bad footwork. He's a guy that fights in spurts. When he throws he plants his feet. He's good at putting combinations together but I don't think he has the footwork to catch Floyd. Maidana is more of a pressure fighter. Amir Khan is not. Floyd can fight in the pocket or while he's moving around going forwards or going backwards. I think it's a hard fight for Khan. But Floyd these days likes to lay on the ropes too much so I can see those opportunities open up for Khan to engage. I pick Mayweather for the UD Win.
Amir Khan vs. Maidana 2 would be a good fight. Khan is still the same fighter he was back then, Maidana with Robert Garcia is not. I'd like to see that one.
Guerrero, Soto Karrass, Berto, Josesito, Victor Ortiz, etc.
Is Victor Ortiz really a test for Errol Spence though? Lol. I think Ortiz would quit. He don't wanna get beat up like that. Soto Karrass is 1 tough son of a gun. He might be a stepping stone, but I still like watching him fight. He's always gamed.
Spence should just fight thurman and KO him
That's a great fight. I'd love to see them match up in 2 years or so. It would honestly be a good fight right now, but I think star power wise Spence is still building his up.
Actually he sounds stupid thinking the man he's suing going to offer him fights. That's just not how the world works.
The right thing to do is to fight until you contract is finished and then pick another promoter.
What happened that made Mikey Garcia sue Bob Arum? Like the full story? Idk the entire story, just read things and seen videos here and there.
Yeah but it would be hilarious.
I see what you mean now.
Spence is a true talent and future champ. I see a lot of good choices here so I won't add any. I just can't wait to see him in the ring again. Dare I say this kid could be the future p4p king. I have a feeling he might be. Only time can tell.
I agree. He COULD be the future guy. But at the same time I need to see him tested first. A lot of names in the welterweight division for him too. I wanna see him fight on Mayweather's upcoming September undercard. Hope he gets a known name this time.
