These are amazing
Bud is too explosive you going to get Manny put to sleep as he was with JMM, TC will deliver that kind of finish, and Team Pac knows it they aint fighting TC.
They went from talking it up about GGG Spence Crawford, and all the while he was backflipping by signing to get McGregor until Con fkd that up getting stopped, when that died and became public he was stripped because the WBO didnt even know he was signing McGregor and locking up the title, then whispers of Mikey now silence.
Manny is between a rock and hard place where the best take him out and he wants to bow out graciously, If I were his manager Id be running Thurman again, Keith has more surgery and time out and the metal loss adds up to an easier fight for Manny next time around while the other top dogs blows Manny away at this stage.
Honestly, I think there's a good chance Manny does get KO'd but I think the potential upside is worth the risk for him, from the eyes of a boxing fan, maybe not for him personally if he just wants the biggest fight for the most money, which he has every right to go for. I get he might just want a farewell fight against someone he will beat, but I'm looking at it as a boxing fan's perspective and I'd rather see him give it a final shot against a great. And in terms of Crawford, do you not think Pacquaio is a better fight for him than whoever Bob matches him with in his final Top Rank fight, given Bob has thrown him under the bus, if he doesn't fight Pacquaio then Arum is unlikely to pay up for anyone decent. Crawford isn't going to fight Spence or Porter next. Mikey G and Vergil Ortiz are highly ranked with the WBO and would be good fights although I don't think he'll fight either next due to promotional issues, there's also the Taylor v Ramirez winner but that wouldn't happen until late this year on next year probably, and given Crawford's WW competition Pacman would still be his best win at the weight if we're honest. I'm not saying Pacquaio should fight Crawford because he definitely wins, I'm saying he should fight him because it's not totally unfeasible he could win or lose a competively close fight if he can turn in a performance similar to Thurman (which was a competitive but decisive win for Manny), and witnessing a great fighter at his age pulling off a performance is worth it because it would further enhance his legacy and would be amazing to see, whereas if he loses it doesn't matter at all and Crawford isn't going to fight anyone better.
If Pac beat Bud it wouldn't be an ATG victory imo.
Maybe not, ATG may be an exaggeration but it would be an outstanding win by a ATG fighter at 42 years old.
It'd also be a rare chance to see him die in the ring. I don't think he's that stupid.
Leave off. Pac fought Thurman in his last fight who was supposed to be the KO artist of the division.
if pac beats bud then it will be another first time in the history of boxing that an old and past prime atg fighter beat the current no. 1 ww and lb4lb boxer and that would be another insane and unbelievable achievement for pac.
Absolutely, and the chance of seeing him do that makes the fight worthwhile. Because it's modern great history being written that we'd get to witness first hand. And as a boxing fan that's what I'm in the sport for
Hell, even if he loses but is competitive and loses a 115-113 it would be brilliant. All I know if Crawford v Pac is well more worthwhile than Crawford v whoever Bob fishes outta the WBO rankings
I think op is ignoring fact it's dangerous
Dangerous in what sense? Pac might get KO'd? Okay but that's why fighter's get paid MILLIONS and Pacquaio would be at least on a 50/50 deal if not more in that fight. Or do you mean dangerous as in it's a huge risk to his health? Doubtful, Pacquiao isn't a "shot to sh|t" fighter, he beat Thurman (a supposed KO artist in his last fight), so it's not like he's an old guy getting beat off b-level fighters who shouldn't be fighting the top guys. And Crawford ain't a killer, he's an elite boxer and he does have pop for sure, but his power generally comes from his speed as opposed to brute slugging power. I do accept some people don't want Pacquaio to continue, or want to see him go out in a gimme type fight. But I think boxing is at it's best when it produces theatrical events such as the fading champ beating the younger star and Pacquiao v Crawford has the best chance of being one of the most memorable examples in history and it's worth making just for the chance even if it is remote, because it's not like there's much else out there that has that sort of drama or narrative, let's be honest. And like I said previously, boxing is that depressing that whoever Crawford fights next it won't be someone as good as 2021 Pacquaio, so we might as well see it, just on the off chance we do witness a legendary night. If not, Pacman can finally back out saying he lost at the top level and retired.
Compared to Crawford, Thurman is a flailing bum. I don't wish Bud on the Pacman.
If it's a case that you think Pacman will 100% get KO'd and don't want to see that happen to Pac I can see your point. I'm just coming from the angle that if Pac does get KO'd it likely doesn't harm his legacy, where as a win or even a competitive performance further enhance his legacy. As a fan any chance to see aged great fighter potentially roll back the years and claim a top win is something worth seeing. At this point I'm not interested in a gimme fight for Pac. If he doesn't want to fight Bud or Spence, I'd probably prefer to see him retire although the Mikey G fight would be a good fight. I just don't want to see him take a gimmick fight (McGregor, or Amir Khan). The fact Bud is expected to KO him is what would make it such a great victory if he prevailed. That's how the fairy tales are written, and the chance (even if it's an unlikely chance) to see a final one by Manny is exciting to me and more intriguing than other fights for Manny.
If you think it's a pointless fight for Bud then my point is that whether we like it or not Pacquaio would still be a better opponent than whoever else Bob picks out of the WBO rankings to fight Crawford next, given Bob has complained about losing money on Bud it's unlikely Bob puts up the money to get Porter or Vergil Ortiz next. So it's likely to be an underwhelming opponent nobody cares about. At least the Pacman fight has some intrigue.
If Pacquiao at his age can beat Crawford....Wow! It blows all of the Bud P4P hype out of the water. I'd be surprised though.
That's why I think it's worth taking because as a boxing fan I think the upside of a Pacman win outweighs the downside of a Pacman loss. If Pacman loses to Bud it's irrelevant in the context of Pacquaio's career. It has zero negative implications on his legacy. But a win, as you said would shake the boxing world. It would be a modern great performance. And it's worth Pacquaio taking the fight just for the chance. Although this is if he still feels sharp and able to perform at the level that he did in his last fight. If he feels over the last two years he's significantly regressed then I'd prefer him just to retire and go out on the Thurman win than take a gimme fight
He sent Eddie on a fool's errand. Look how quickly the Wilder fight got signed, that's Top Rank/Haymon, FOX/ESPN negotiating. This has been in the works for more than a few weeks.
We need memes.
Someone take a picture of Saunders with the towel on his head and impose it on the Street Fighter II game over screen with the caption “Go home and be a family man”
He's been dining out on that Lemeiux win for 3 and half year. Not looked anywhere near as good since against inferior opposition. Prime Canelo gonna steam roll him
I’m in the UK. We pay a little less for the subscription £7.99 pm which is about 11 bucks.
Definitely envy all fights on at social hours but with DAZN I can the whole card without spoilers the following morning. Apps are so convenient.
I think the issue with the UK model is that there's a load of fans who would watch Matchroom on Sky because it was part of their Sky Subscription, but with Matchroom only putting on less than two shows a month on average in the UK asking that casual audience, who have no interest in the US show, to pay £8 on top of their Sky, Netflix, Disney, etc loses that casual audience they previously had. Although to hardcore boxing fans it provides value given the spoiler free access to US cards in the morning.
DAZN is pretty good. Looking forward to the Benn vs Algieri fight next weekend. Bivol too.
The Spain cards can be fun.
Haney Jojo last week, Teo the week before.
Parker vs Chisora will be an entertaining scrap. Also madrimov vs soro, Zurdo cards that weekend.
I’m happy
I think it provides much better value for US fans UK subcribers given that most fights on there are at sociable hours for US fans, where as it's a harder sell when a lot of the content is on at 4am for UK viewers. Wouldn't be so sure of Parker v Chisora being an entertaining scrap, first one was pretty dour imo
I have DAZN, but nobody else I know has even heard of it. Same with espn+, nobody I know has it. I don't think it is DAZN that is overlooked, it is sports apps in general.
It's gonna struggle to cross over to the mainstream, that's why boxing fans need to support it, 'cause their emphasis on subscription level boxing is the avenue that's gonna provide the best value and keep the sport affordable to watch.
Thurman v Barrios on PPV. It's laughable.
DAZN needs to give US fans a reason to pay for the service.
Like maybe giving Golden Boy Promotions a bigger budget and letting them be in charge of fight cards for the American market.
And you do know that DAZN is planning on doing their own PPVs now, right?
It's not quite hit the nail in terms of US content but I reckon at $99 a year it delivers value when you consider the cost to watch the big fights on other networks that end up PPV.
I know DAZN is looking at PPV but I can't envisage a scenario where Eddie Hearn looks at a fight like Thurman v Barrios and decides that's PPV, he's a pompous cúnt but he isn't insane.
Some Americans seem to be under the impression that DAZN is some sort of foreign invasion and by not having it and constantly complaining about it or generally crapping on it they are doing their front line defensive duties for the nation.
Also we got these PBC fangimp morons who see DAZN and Eddie Hearn as the white devil sent to destroy Al Haymon and his black business for black Boxers. They are fkking stupid but most of these are not actual Boxing fans they are all about using the sport for their racial narratives.
But either way, if they are happy to spend thousands on weak PPV's with pathetic undercards while crying about the price of an App and the Boxing it provides then that is up to them. As long as they have an idea of how fkking salty they sound when they trying to play it down.
I get their hatred, it's okay to think Eddie Hearn is a stuck up, pompous, twat AND to like the fights that are on DAZN. Hearn wins himself no fans with his persona, but you don't gotta like him to appreciate DAZN's effort to provide subscription level boxing across Matchroom and Golden Boy

It's crazy. People can't afford this shįt it's making this sport completely niche. Fans need to say no to this shįt. PPV should be the elite of the elite, not for contenders like Ortiz, Martin, Thurman and Barrios, genuinely what the f\/ck has happened?
DAZN can't even make in-house fights.
Yeah but Ortiz v Martin and Thurman v Barrios for a combined $80+
Or Gonzalez v Estrada III for $9.99 on subscription?
There needs to be a reality check with the state of PPV in the US, how the fūck has it got so bad that Thurman v Barrios is PPV? That fight would have struggled to headline a Boxing After Dark show on HBO 10 years ago.
There’s not one DAZN fight that I could give 2 sh.its about. Their roster is simply twat and there’s no way around that. So I’ll stick to streaming their fights for free.
No but, they're the network that gave you 6 Canelo fights on subscription, PBC got one and charged you $80 for it. You should support the network trying to deliver enough value that you don't mind paying for it.
History was made today when the tiny island of Malta celebrated its first major world champion when Joe Cordina ripped the super featherweight belt from the beaten ogawa. This is a truly historical occasion.
Do you happen to know what his exact connection to Malta is? Is it a parent or grandparent born there?
Fury by points. Dillian is a lot stronger than Wilder so he’ll be harder to wear down (see Wallin). Whyte does gas, so a late stoppage isn’t out of the question but I reckon it’ll be a physical, tiring 12 rounds.
US fans getting mugged off being charged more on PPV for this than the UK fans.

Bob Arum: “We won’t have anything to do with Probellum and we’re looking to cut whatever ties we have with MTK,” the Daniel Kinahan-linked promotional and managerial companies.
Does this mean TR is cutting ties with Fury?
I read that TR deal with Fury expires after this fight. Even if it’s not boxers, promoters and broadcasters will all cut ties with Kinahan. Nobody who wants a legitimate career will risk doing business with him. It’s over for Kinahan in boxing.
This is Fury's last fight with TR but with the potential undisputed fight after this fight, no way does Arum not want to continue doing business with Fury.
I think Fury and Arum will continue to work together. It’s Kinahan who will get discarded. The microscope is well and truly on Kinahan and all those involved with him now. Joshua and Matchroom will never sign for a fight which has any association with Kinahan. He’s a pariah now. It’s like doing business with Putin, unless you plan on living and spending your money in Russia, it’s a worthless endeavour
Too weird. Briedis looking for a PAY DAY. He's lost touch with reality, however. There's no way in hell that Jake Paul fights him. Paul has so many options, and I'm pretty sure he's guaranteed to not pick someone who will put a heinous beat down on him like Breidis would. Paul fighting Mairis is like committing suicide. He'd have NO chance.
Not to mention Briedis is completely unknown outside of the boxing circle, he has zero name value to the mainstream audience. Jake Paul can fight Chavez Jr for waaaay more money.
Wonder how negotiations will go seeing as matchroom just had a show with 200k peak viewers with 90k average whilst Frank Warren about less than 5k average i believe lol.
Those figures for Frank’s shows are terrible. His comeback shows haven’t been promoted well. His figures aren’t normally that bad, as BT is quite a big platform.
The main thing is he can get rid of the problem with Whyte by making him fight Dubois or Joyce brillant plan.
Zero chance Whyte takes it
You don't fight, Helenius, Chisora x 2, Parker, Rivas and Povetkin to give up your mandatory spot to a huge fight against either Fury or Joshua, to fight a dangerous prospect like Dubois. After Whyte beats Povetkin he's sitting out until he gets his shot.
Never. Within a year even the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO will be relegated to secondary, lower tier of boxing after The Saudi's, Warren and Hearn complete their privatisation of boxing and launch their new UFC type organisation, with their own titles and rankings, where only their 200 contracted fighters are able to compete. With everyone else, including the 4 sanctioning bodies, left on the outside. Struggling to survive.
