Taylor has been overrated for a long time. He was one of HBO's "glitter children" i.e. a fighter with a contract.
Look, he got one, if not two gift decisions against an ancient Bernard Hopkins. Drew with an older Winky Wright (who is really a Jr. Middleweight) and then looked pathetic against a collection of Jr. Middleweights and Welterweights.
What the hell was so impressive about Taylor?
Taylor has so many flaws that even Manny Steward can't fix them all.
Editor's note - I've laced up the Reyes. Stepped through the ropes. Gotten a bloody nose, bruises.
My point is that Jones and Trinidad were great fighters. They are both nice guys. I have no problem there.
My problem is the crazy prices and the fact that one of them could get hurt in this fight that really shouldn't be happening. If either had proved themselves worthy with recent accomplishments and good performances I'd be all for it.
But they are faded beyond all rationalization.
I agree...
I agree, I think David Diaz will beat Erik Morales.
As much as I like Erik Morales his best days were a long, long time ago. He's running on fumes now and he has been for a while.
David Diaz is a youthful and strong lightweight and Erik Morales is: (A.) Not a Lightweight, and (B.) Not young.

Angulo could use an uppercut. If he added that to his arsenal he'd be the total package. He cuts off the ring nicely, targets the body wonderfully and is strong as hell.
If I was a 154-pound fighter I'd be doing what I could to avoid Angulo.
The referee in that fight was a sadist. He did the right thing by not stopping it in the 3rd but he let it go on too long at the end.
I think a few things:
(1.) Manny uses his speed to zip and zig and zag and that he'll move in and out.
(2.) Cotto is a sucker for uppercuts because of the way he leans over his front foot. He's also open for a right hook over the top.
(3.) If Manny lays on the ropes it will be a problem. Cotto throws quick combos, too and he can hurt a guy if he stands in front of him or has his back against the ropes.
Pac has to be cautious because he's not a real welterweight - or at least not as real as Cotto.
It's a cartoon fight.
But that's what boxing is all about. It's certainly not an unprecedented occurence where a small man moves up to fight the big man.
I like it. Should be interesting.
No surprise that he may have had an issue making weight.
It's only the second time in Salita's entire boxing carer that he has scaled 140.
I wouldn't say it was a "struggle" just because he had to strip down. A "struggle" would be if he was 1 or 2 pounds over and had to go to the sauna and run around in a rubber suit for an hour or two.
Now that would be a "struggle."
He did, Steward said Lee would beat Pavlik "right now".
Steward said Pavlik, but he also said Winky Wright.

De La Hoya is a sick young man
I always thought parts of the story were real. I believe that De La Hoya and the stripper had a long term relationship, that they met for frequent sex sessions in hotels and cities around the country and that Oscar probably promised her the world.
I believe that she took photos of Oscar, but my guess is that the pictures we saw are a creation of Photoshop. I'm sure she probably has real pictures of him, but none in fishnet stockings or wigs - but who really knows except her and Oscar?
Whatever the case, I know Oscar a little bit. He dislikes any sort of confrontation with anybody. I saw him blush one day when we were in Denver back in 1997 when Hector Camacho started to intimidate him and call him a "pretty boy". Hector was pretty sharp with the tongue and he did quite a job on The Golden Boy. Oscar just clammed up, didn't say a word and actually looked like the little skinny kid being picked on by a bully.
We'll see what happens here. My guess is that Oscar pays her some money and makes it all go away. I think it's already having a toll on his marriage. Oscar hasn't been at home much lately. Hell, he's been at every fight and every press conference going since these pictures first hit the Internet a month or so ago.
I think Millie has probably told him to "hit the road".
So that's what he's done - literally.

Tarver vs. Dawson
I'd like to see Tarver fight Dawson or even Clinton Woods for that matter.
If he was able to beat either of those two he could make a lot of people shut their mouths. Especially if he beat Dawson who looks pretty good to me.
