Usyk trains in kickboxing, sambo, wrestling and judo and has for years.
Honestly Jake may well be a little safer in boxing.
Correct, and Usyk would have been great in MMA. But with his talent level in boxing + the money the sport brings, it never made sense to go that route. I cannot see this happening.
All credit to Bivol.
I think you are right. I don’t argue your ratings. But I do think that we are starting to see Beterbiev’s age show. Bivol looked so quick tonight. He really had Biev almost turned around a couple times.
Man. Some people on this board truly don’t know boxing. Floyd would absolutely put on a clinic against Crawford in his prime. Even now (if Floyd really trained), if I had to make a bet, I’d put my money on Floyd.
Good God. Who posts these ridiculous troll like responses.
Some of these threads start off great and then take a turn for the worse. And 99% of the time it’s Amir Khan trolls that start it. Someone ban these clowns please ?
Anyway, this is a GREAT debate that will rage until a few of these special fighters step in the ring. Here are my candid thoughts.
Spence - Bud: This is the fight everyone wants now and I think it should happen. But I’d like to see Bud fight someone like Danny or Porter first. He’ll beat those guys, but another fight at 147, against a really good fighter, will leave him better prepared for Spence.
I’m very rarely torn on who I think wins a fight, but this is one I’m not sure on yet (another fight for Bud at 147 and I’ll make a call). Spence is just tough and hits hard as hell. As someone said earlier, Floyd spoiled people. When focused, he literally wouldn’t get touched. Bud isn’t on his level defensively and against someone like Spence that can get dicey really quick. I do think Bud is a superior boxer and would have the right game plan going in, but I’m not sure he could avoid Spence as much as he would have to. Tough to call.
Thurman: he’s been out too long. And honestly I think he’s too small for Spence. I’d love to see him fight Bud though.
The rest: a lot of other very good fighters at this weight. But the three above are a level above. Hopefully it’ll get sorted out sooner rather than later.
Fatigue and skill are not the samething, the fact that you don't realize that makes me laugh.
Good point - let me correct myself. If he were a smarter fighter.
All these things are relevant in this game. Gassiev at 24 fought a much smarter fight than the 31 year old, arrogant Dorticos did. I don’t see him beating Gassiev.
Great fight ! Lot of respect for both.
