i wouldnt read too much into this, their are different types of punches
Those fast sharp ones you dont see that whip in and hurt you (generally from leaner guys with long limbs) then those smashing heavy ones from a stocky guy
its universally agreed that rotation is key but you swing to your strengths i suppose
you act as if there are a bunch of big names at HW, wilder and AJ will happen in 2018, all the other HWs are just now establishing themselves. the AJ Wlad fight was a business move plus a great opportunity for London. Not to mention AJ said he needed a few fights before wilder. DID YOU MISS THAT??? Fury has been on the shelf for 2 years. this means anyone who he fought outside of those names you all would scoff at outside of maybe Ortiz... everyone else is establishing themselves and will make sense late 2017 mid 2018. Nobody at HW has a great resume 2017-2018 should be the year of better fights at HW things take time. Wilder tried to fight a decent name but was cheated and hes called out everyone including AJ.
Behave, anyone can call anyone out, i can call out wilder, i can call out Charlie Zalenoff. Read any proper boxing books, autobiography's etc from promoters of the golden age and 80's/ early 90's. They all say the same thing, if you want to fight someone, the fight gets made, its much easier than you think
Boxing public/fans aint stupid, Wilder was forgiven for taking an easy fight here and there, heck, all the greats have done it but over time, if you make the same mistakes, over and over and over, people become bored and disengaged with you.
I dont deny Wilder's power but in fights against Washington, Spilka he has looked very average, struggled against C level fighters and then just relies on a big KO against the grain from nowhere - this is not the behaviour of a champ.
You can say AJ's opposition has been poor, i agree his resume is not great but when he has fought those people, he has absolutely dominated them, blown them out, with the exception to maybe 2 rounds against Dillian Whyte and maybe 3 or 4 to Wld. He has barely lost a round as a heavyweight (champion behaviour)
You can not say the same about Wilder!
its not rocket science, he is nearly 3 years as champ and defended against nobody's. Hes 39 fights into his career and fought Stiveren (an aging champion/paper champion at that) and that is all
Great men achieve great things by challenging themselves and he is not challenging himself. If he genuinely wanted to, he could demand his promoters to get him Fury, Wladamir or Joshua. He doesnt want the fights and neither do his opponents.
The great thing about Saturday night is the HW are starting to up there game, starting to face each other, then Wilder will be seen for what he is. Raw power that is incredibly wild, when he fights Fury, Fury will dance round his telegraphed windmill all day. Klitschko would tie him up and beet him to every jab. AJ would KO him
easy answer,
does anyone question AJ hits like a train and has the better technique - no
same question
does anyone question Wilder hits like a train and has the better technique - yes
rest my case
-22 yrs old
-started boxing at 20
- 5"7
-175 lbs ( mostly muscle)
- haven't had a real fight yet but I spar every class( 3x per week)
- I box at an mma gym and our head coach is a jujitsu fighter
- Our secondary coach was a former world champion boxer
- I have power in both hands
-stamina sucks
In conclusion I have a STRONG desire to be a real boxer and if I knew I could not fail I'd pursue a pro career. Based on my stats I have laid out can you please give me an honest assessment of my future in the sport
So to summarise:
You are short, learning boxing in a MMA gym, you are scared to fight and you gas out after a round?
not the best start
Not sure what fight you were watching kid, but Jacobs was not only beat, but his face was the one busted n puffy.
It was a good fight, but a clear win by GGG. Fighting to survive was how Jacobs fought most of the night. Had he fought to win like those few rounds he won, it maybe wouldve been a different story
Agreed, he fought well but never really looking to hurt GGG, he was evasive to keep GGG from hurting him. Not fighting on Blackfoot with good counters but fighting on back foot to not get hurt
